Signal is one or zero bars until I call - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

So I've been using cleanrom with no issues until today. I tried to switch to liquid smooth. It only got one or no bars until I made a call, then had 3 or 4. Then went back after 10 or so seconds. Now I tried paranoid android 3.0. Same issue. Tried different modems. APN is identical to stock att.
Any ideas?
Edit: ugh. When I disconnect from wifi it stays at 1 bar until I call, but if I call with wifi off, then disconnect the call and use data, the signal strength stays at max for a few minutes. But if I turn on wifi it goes back to one or zero. Wtf
More edit: I'm thinking an apn setting is messed up somewhere or something. I can see now that when I'm on h+ or 3g I can have full bars, no problem, but as soon as it switches to lte it drops to one or no bars
Edit tres: when I do have a 1 bar 4G signal it is excellent, almost as fast as wifi.

[Q] Calls Dropping and Data display issue in Status Bar

My phone constantly drops calls on Vodafone (UK).
I got so fed up I put the latest stable Cyanogen ROM on it but the issue still occurs
I have also noticed that my status bar only displays the "G" rather than "3G" with the latest cyanogen even though I am getting 3G speeds. If I switch the phone to 2G only and back again then displays correctly.
Can you test on other phone signal strenght? Maybe it's weak.
If signal is good try some of sense roms.
For example
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12384604&postcount=12328
I had never drop calls on these roms.
Phone signal if full - it makes some sort of funny sound when it cuts off then hangs for a second or two.
I had the stock ROM which is sense and it happened a lot of the time.
How would a sense ROM help?

[Q] Does Galaxy Nexus 4.0.4 update fix airplane mode/slow restoring network bug?

People have reported that the Galaxy Nexus (Verizon CDMA version) takes on average 30s to a minute to acquire the network after coming out from airplane mode. I've noticed this myself that the reception bars remain greyed out with no service for close to a minute after toggling airplane mode on and off, even when standing just a few blocks from a cell tower. I remember with my OG Droid I had service within a few seconds after toggling off airplane mode. Of course this bug is very inconvenient right after coming out of the subways in the city.
I'd like to wait for the official update but I'm considering doing it myself if someone can check on the status of this bug for me.
tested for ya...
Took ~26 seconds to reconnect to 4G (~20 seconds to connect to voice). Seems long. Running 4.0.4 OS + Radios + bootloader.
Of note: The hand-offs between 3G & 4G have greatly improved; nearly instantaneous. See little reason to toggle airplane any longer.
BTW, I was running GummyNex. I'm sticking w/ 4.0.4, because it really is faster/smoother/better.
Hope this info helps.
Thanks! I'm glad 4.0.4 has improved the hand-off at least.

Question about calls going to voicemail when not using phone.

Something weird happens. I am connected to wifi calling all the time when I am home because I get zero bars here. For some reason though, whenever I dont touch the phone for a lil while, whenever someone calls it goes straight to voicemail. Does not even ring. Almost as if there is no signal, which of course there is. I also randomly call my cell from phones here to see if it happens and they get through fine. Like I said, its only when I have not touched the phone for a while.
I am completely stock.
I have the wifi sleep policy on NEVER and the wifi calling settings on wifi preferred.
Any ideas what can cause this?
Also, cell standby says the entire time I have been on battery, I have almost 100 percent non signal. That happened with my amaze also but it never made me miss calls because it was always on wifi calling.
Any idea of what can be causing this, or what I can do to stop it. Using GB btw, not ICS
bump
Stock GB?
Yup.. Stock Gb

[Q] wifi problems

I am out US on wifi only and there are a few issues i noticed. Im wondering if anyone else has the same problems.
1) If the phone is restarted it shows a full 4 bars when connected to wifi. Once the phone goes to sleep and has been sitting for a while then when I unlock the screen it says I have one bar and it performs that way. Toggling the wifi on and off has no effect the phone must be restarted to get the signal back strong.
2) The wifi reception overall generally seems weaker on my G than on other devices. In certain areas wife's Galaxy SII and my iPad both have signal of 2 bars and the G has nothing plus my G keeps disconecting from the wifi.
3) Power saving mode when the phone is down to the last 30% it turns off the wifi and turns on the LTE. Shouldnt it be the other way around!
Thx,
Mark

[Q] sound/vibrate/mute switchin on its own

I am not rooted, original sprint rom etc
every time i put my stteing on vibrate it keeps on switching back on on its own, or it goes into ringer off mode,
same thing with the wifi it keeps on turning itself on/off by itself
any solutions???????????
Thank you
The wifi is from sprint connection optimizer. It turns it on when a steady connection is around. Personally i keep it on because I get much battery life just using wifi over 3g with 2 bars of connection since it struggles. But for the sound, I have no idea.. That's interesting..
anyone out there have any ideas how to resolve this?
