Whenever I'm listening to music, my Viper 4 AndroidFX app closes automatically even though around 250mb free RAM is always available on my device. I use CM 11 and N7 player. But I'm facing the same problem with other ROM's and music players aa well.
Isn't there a way to keep Viper 4 AndroidFX always in memory?
Kindly help. Thanks.
You can, however use Greenify to end more unnecessary apps running in background.Mine free RAM is about 390 MB on CM11 R22.

I keep getting notifications that my internal storage is low, so I've been having to uninstall apps that I really don't want to get rid of.
I was also quite suprised that I'd managed to fill up the 120(?) or so MB of space, so I thought I would total the space taken up by the apps I have installed.
The total space taken up by my apps ~66.61MB
Available space - 15.35MB
Which makes a not so grand total of 81.96MB
What else is stored on the internal memory that is taking up around 40MB of space? Is 82ish MB in line with everyone else?
Oh and here's a list of my apps:
Mystique Chapter 3
Asphalt
ProjectInf
Replica Island
HTC_IME mod
Guitar Hero World Tour
Maps
Voice Search
Papaya Farm
ASTRO
WebSharing
Defnd Homeland
Robo Defense
Raging Thunder 2
Shoot U!
SpacePhysics
Facebook
ShopSavvy

Flikie Wallpapers
FotMob 2009
TubeDroid

Last.fm
Exzeus
Gentle Alarm
Foursquare
Remote Desktop
Gmote
beebPlayer
Shazam
Advanced Task Manager
Music Junk
Record It
AppBrain Market Sync
Seeds of Life 2
MusicSleep
Uninstaller
Album Art Grabber
try deleting al your caches and emails (esp) with attachments.
Then reboot phone
Oh and you don't need task managers / killers.
Your games will take up space also.
I'll try that and see what difference it makes.
Whoops! Yeh task killers still there from my G1. Takes up very little space anyway.
What extra space yould the games take? Saved games can't be much at all surely
I deleted the cache etc and it's gone up to 16.04mb available :/
Do a reboot, should help
I listen almost 3-6 hours music on my phone per day. But everytime I start another app, e.g. navigation/dolphin HD music stops even using alternatives(poweramp, mixzing). When using stock browser and listening to music the browser is killed. I've heard that this it because of gingebread killing apps intensively, when starting my device i've around 130MB free ram. My rom is InsertCoin nightly v51. I don't want to change rom because is like rosie 3.0 a lot and it's very smooth as well, any app to lock apps into memory or like that?
or any other solution?
Do you use Advanced Task killer or any such task management software? If yes, add the music or browser apps to "ignore list". Then the apps will not be killed.
Did that, same problem, after that I uninstalled every taskmanaging app. Still same problem? Isn't there an app which locks apps into the memory?
my google music app studders a little bit every so often does anyone know why this is?
Is this noticeable if you do many things while listening to music? Like loading sites on facebook, browsing data-intensive sites or some things like that? Try not to do such things that are taxing the cpu too much else you will end up with music stuttering because the CPU is under pressure
and if it continues.. try to use poweramp or something like that..
There is a dedicated sound chip. Has nothing to do with cpu. It's a Google thing that has workarounds depending what you're using to play music.

This happens to me as well when I'm just riding the train and not doing a bunch of stuff (although, there might be some stuff loaded in memory at the time). I just assumed that it had problems when it either uploaded it to Google Music or cached it to my phone...

lol not really, you can prove that to yourself.. by just get alot of apps running and fill up your ram a bit, then listen to music and try to multitask without any stuttering
Does the stuttering occur during normal music playback, or are you playing longer files (podcasts or mixtapes)? There is a bug where long audio files cause stuttering. There are a few work-arounds listed in the bug thread (which I can't link to as this is my first post), but they include enabling the FX Booster in Google Music, or using a third party app like DSPManager.
To get 50GB of storage at Box.com all you need to do is download & log into the Android app (apparently limited time offer) and you're automatically bumped to 50GB.
I got a buddy of mine set up with this where he uploaded his music to Box (since he doesn't have a computer to do it with he downloads music to his phone using the uTorrent app legal sources of music) and I have him using CloudAround Lite to stream all of the music from his Box account to his phone. It has some pretty sweet capabilities to stream from just about any cloud storage (only one allowed with free version) and lets you decide how much to cache on your phone (number of songs unfortunately, so you can't simply limit how much space the phone can use of your storage.) Plus the interface is not so bad either. It needs a bit of tweaking but the dude seems pretty interested in getting your feedback.
If you don't mind spending some coin, there's also FolderSync which is amazing for so many creative uses of cloud storage since it allows for one-way (to local or to remote) and the option to delete from source after sync which is pretty neat if you want to (for example) always have your pictures uploaded on to a cloud storage but not take up space once you have taken them and two-way sync which is just useful if you want to use it as backup type source.
Anyway, this definitely would help with the lack of storage regardless of what options you choose and makes uploading music to the cloud pretty easy and also gives you the ability to do what Google Music can't do: actually would let you sync music from your cloud storage on your virtual storage.
Does anyone this stack with the 50GB I already received for installing box on Touch Pad?

Unfortunately, no it doesn't stack.
Nice, shame it's got a 100mb max file size upload limit for free users though.
Thread regarding this already exists in general

Hello guys,as per title i'm experiencing music stuttering even on JB(given that it might be the leak's fault as it isn't complete yet)the same as ICS(meaning stuttering with FB browsing twitter ecc ecc) but the multitasking is improved beyong possible and anything is perfect,i really don't know what to think.
I didn't posted this in the leak thread because it's so crowded my post wouldn't even be read.
thank for the help(if there's any)
cheers
Dave
Walkman is really heavy. When I was light running the leak (read it: only a few essential apps installed) no stutters at all (and I mean it: not a single stutter), maybe the music stopped playing due low RAM but that was it. With Walkman and PowerAMP, sutter is almost gone.
"almost gone">that's what i don't get. My friend's xperia sola doesn't have this kind of problems neither my 2010 desire hd do.
On top of that the free ram now is like doubled on jb so i don't understand how can the music player stutter.
Thanks for the help though i'm trying to use Gplay music let's see if anything change.

yes i get what "almost gone" mean,i just don't get how a dual core 1(not quite)gb of ram device has stuttering problem and a 2 years old phone(desire HD)doesn't.
Neutron Music Player
I'm using Neutron Music Player on my XPERIA LT26i with Leaked JB 4.1.2 and I have no problems that I can hear.
Even when the screen is off the player is fine and doesn't lose focus.
Don't even need a SetCPU profile to maintain priority as Neutron Music Play must(haven't really checked) lock in a 'required' CPU frequency to support continued and smooth playback, thus overriding lower screen-off CPU frequencies.
Google Play downloaded music plays at 64bit(indicated???) and 320KB/sec and I don't remember hearing anything odd,
Most of my wav and flac music (16 -24bit) streamed off my NAS sounds fine.
I stream 720p TV and videos(mkv H264,AC3) using BSPlayer from my NAS and they play without any lag or 'stutters' and with videos, you'd hear/see anything odd pretty quickly.
AND all this is with the default leaked JB CPU governors(ondemand) and scheduler(cfq).
Think what we could have when DoomLord and others go wild with bespoke Kernels.
I have approx 240 - 300MB of memory available
I've removed about 70 system apps/bloatware.
Calendar, Mail, WhatsApp are the only network background service processes I have running.
I'd probably delete the supplied Sony Music player on released JB version if that doesn't present any problems as I never use it.
The XPERIA S with Leaked JB seems, in general, to be very responsive with no lag, that I've noticed.
I have an XPERIA X10i v2.3 and even over-clocked it still has issues with lag. BUT, again with Neutron Music Player and a 64GB microSD card music is fine on an XPERIA X10i,
So, with music, I'd suggest, the limitation of a given Android device could be compensated with a good Music application.
I note on leaked XPERIA S JB 4.1 that the music player currently being used has focus on the lock screen and that could be Neutron Music Player or XiiaLive Internet Radio player. Very handy for quick music control of the active player directly from the lock screen.
Currently listening to music while 16 app are open (fb tweet 2 browser ecc)with neutron music player and everything looks fine for now. I want to try using walkman app to see if it's the same.
Tried gplay music and NMP with the same opened app and no stutters with nmp i'll try it for a few days thanks for the help for now

Even super low end Samsung Galaxy Y that my friend use doesn't have shuttering problem in music player. .ZZZZzzzzz
I think something is wrong with NXT series apps..
My friends Arc don't have this problem in Stock ICS but when he rooted n flashed NXT series apps like Walkman n all, music shuttering started just like my XS.. We can blame the Walkman app in my friend's case but every other music app is having shuttering problem (same as XS) since he flashed it... Something is wrong..
Precisely my point! even low end devices don't stutter (not that i know of).
I don't know who(or what) to blame though as i tried flashing cyanogen mod and p.a.c but no luck, stutter was always there no matter what.
Cheers
