I have an extra adaptive fast charger for my note edge and wanted to know if it would be ok to use for my tab s over the included one. I charge both of them on the same night stand and it's a pain to try to figure out what Samsung cord is which because all I see is the micro usb end, not the wall plug. If I plug the wrong one into my note edge I don't get the fast charging and the only way to know is plug one in and see if the "adaptive fast charger connected" notification pops up. So will using the fast charger on my tab s hurt the battery on my tab, or will it charge it slower/faster than the included one? Thanks in advance.
It should charge as fast as the Tablet allows - it will negotiate a speed with the charger for how fast It can be charged. It shouldn't cause any damage.

Hi guys,
I've noticed that my galaxy s4 mini 3g comes with a 1000 mA (1A) charger and it charges at a very good speed compared to when I plug it to an ordinairy USB port (500mA only I believe) on the desktop.
It gets warm after a while while charging using the official samsung wall charger (1A)
I plugged it in my battery bank where the output is said to be 1500 mA and it charged up much faster but gets a little more warmer in the back.
I have an ipad charger here rated for 2.1A but I haven't tried it yet..
I want to find the fastest but also a safe way to charge my phone in order for the battery life to become longer before I need to buy a new one. So I want to ask you guys here in the forum what chargers do you use?
A good read that made more familiar with charging via USB:
http://www.extremetech.com/computing/159727-how-to-charge-your-smartphone-and-other-usb-devices-as-quickly-as-possible
For the battery life to remain long you should stick with lower amperages. The 1A charger should do you fine. USB ports are typically 0.5A, unless its a USB3 port which gives more amperage I think.
I've used a Mega 6.3 charger on the S4 mini before (2A).
My sgt 3 wont turn on. haven't used it about like 2 months, so It has been completly shut down, now when Im trying to charge it it says, "Voltage to low, need to be above 3.4v" And Im charing with an iPad adapter, which should be fine, right? I dont have the original charger.
Actually I dont know what rom I even use, think it was CAGROM, not sure. How do I start it up? Cant get to recovery even..
Do you have another Samsung device? Or any recent device. While it may seem like the USB chargers would all have the same voltage, they do not. I have plugged my Galaxy S5 into the port on a Charger delivered with an iPhone 5s and it charged much more slowly.
I suggest trying a different USB adapter. If it still does not charge you may have to open the Tab unplug and re attach the battery cable.

Yes I've but that is for a Nexus 5 (LG original), and the adapter is pretty small, dont think it's 3.4v in that one. I've tried diffrent cables, and that didnt help.

agdi,
you can try plugging you tab to a powered usb port on your pc.
leave it sit overnight, if you can power it on come morning,
turn off wifi, mute sound, disable location/sync and drop you screen brightness as low as it will go,
then suspend your tab and leave it connected to suck up more of a charge.
your charger needs to be
input 100-240V~ 50-60Hz 0.35A
output 5.3V===2.0A

I got this one charging that my sister dropped off to fix by removing the back un-clipping the battery connector then clipping it back in it back in

Any way to force fast charge when charging via USB
When charging with wall outlet with original LG charger the phone charges pretty quickly.
However when charging via USB in my car there are time it will charge slowly (which I can deal with) but there are other times it will not change quick enough resulting in the battery actually losing charge. What is weird is I can't figure out the variability as the load should be pretty consistent (screen on, bluetooth on, GPS on, car home ultra, navigation and stream music).
I had a Galaxy Nexus that had the same problem but was able to resolve it with combination of using a power only USB cable and custom kernel that support Fast Charge which I set via Trickster MOD. I am using the same setup except I can't find an equivalent way to trigger Force Fast Charge.
I am using GSam Battery Monitor to try to diagnose but am getting confusing results. The mV reading varies from time to time from -1000ish to +1300ish.
Is there a way to solve my problem?
Thanks in advance!
What is the rated amperage output of the car charger and have you tried using the original LG cable with it?
If the port on your car isn't putting it enough amps it will never fast charge. Try getting a fast charge car charger.

Hum... I didn't think about checking the output of the car charger. Thank you for the suggestions. I think that is the problem.
I have a GoGroove FlexSMART X2 Mini (http://www.gogroove.com/GOgroove-Fl...eless-In-Car-Bluetooth-FM-Transmitter-pid9385) and I found out its output is rated as DC 5.0V 600mA. I think I'm going to need to get a twin socket adapter, one socket for the X2 mini and one socket for a fast charge car charger.
Buy a 12VDC charger with at least a 5V 2A output and you should be good.
Any way to disable rapid charging?
I have a generic USB extender and used it to extend my charger cable by a couple of feet. When the phone showed "full charge in 5 hours" I realized it's making the charge speed extremely slow. The USB cable is a regular sized USB male on one end while the other end is a regular sized USB female. You could use that to slow down your charging to about the speed you'd get by charging from a USB 2.0 connector on any PC/laptop.
One the same note will using a standard charger from other cell phones (that I have like 300 of) and the cable that came with phone cause any problems or just charge slow. I travel a lot and have several USB devices I bring and don't want to bring multiple chargers if I don't need to.
Thanks.
It will just charge slow.

You need a compatible charger for it to fast charge. Using a regular charger wouldn't put it in that mode. I wanted to know if there was an option to turn it off with a compatible charger.
Why do you want to turn it off.
I could swear I saw something in the framework to disable fast charging but I'm not 100% sure.
I'll try to remember to keep an eye out for it after the December updates drop from Google and I have to redo my framework mods.
As far as options in the GUI go, I don't recall ever seeing any option to disable fast charging.
To answer another question, someone may want to disable fast charging to ensure their battery lasts longer (short term + long term). Or to prevent overheating when charging in the sun. And other reasons too.
You could always buy a MicroUSB to USB-C adapter. Or the phone may have come with one too now that I think about it.
Then use an older MicroUSB charger to charge your phone.
Charging via computer is only like 500mAH compared vs. 2000+mAH charging from the stock charger.
Count me amongst the club who would prefer to slow-charge my phone overnight at least.
And possibly slow my car charger down to maybe just 1000mAH to prevent overheating while the phone is docked underneath my windshield under the hot sun.
I'm planning to set a tab S4 as my car dash. I want to know if it is possible to fast charge the device while using OTG at the same time.
I know that it will charge the device, but if it doesn't fast charge, even though it charges the battery capacity will decline because of the constant use of the display.
I have a usb hub which has PD 3.0 charging capabilities, but it shows as cable charging only with a 18w charger.
