Note 4 no data network available? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Just activated my AT&T Note 4 and I just noticed I have absolutely no data connection. Data and enhanced data is turned on but the only icons to the left of the signal meter are the NFC icon. Am I doing something wrong here?
EDIT: Just called AT&T obviously the 1st rep that activated my phone didn't do his job as my phone didn't have the IMEI number updated, it still had my old Nokia phone. 2nd rep updated my info and I have working data now.

I have had tons of phones. Put sim card in and they work like they are supposed to. The Note 4 is the only phone that has to have a rep update the emei or what ever it is emie. It should register it's self. Iphone LG Flex LG G2 Note 2 Note 3 Nokia phones all have no problems with my simcard EXCEPT THE NOTE 4. What is the problem with this phone. I have had a problem with forwarding my calls to Gear S and problems with tethering hotspot. All because the phone can not register itself on the network. AT&T IT IS TIME FOR THE CORRECT UPDATE.
No root is one thing but no root and phone not working like it should is QUITE ANOTHER. I have never jumped ship before but tomorrow might be the day!

CDMA capable after unlock?

A while back I unlocked my phone. Just the other day I took it into T-MOBILE and asked the gentleman to put in a sim card so I could verify that it was unlocked. Everything went smooth and my phone showed 4g with T-Mobile.
My question: is my Note 2 a dual phone meaning does it have the antennas to run on a CDMA network as well?
Reason I ask is because I've heard that Boost mobile has unlimited data.
Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.

T-Mobile has GSM network. No CDMA for At&t Note 2
If u want cheap unlimited data, try net10 or straight talk
I don't have the note 2 anymore. I'm using the LG Optimus G Pro.
Net 10 and ST are not unlimited data. They cut you off at some point. I tried NET 10 last year.
And the customer service is so horrible that words cannot describe.
Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.

*Voice calls not working after reactivating device

Reposting in HTC One M8 forum.
Rooted S off Verizon M8 was used with T-Mobile for 4 months. Switched to Verizon again and bought iPhone 6 for my wife. Tried reactivating M8 with old Verizon SIM but only data works, voice calls doesn't work.
Went to Verizon store and replaced SIM and same issue. Was with tier 2 support for close to 2 hours and they couldn't figure out what is happening. They see the phone as turned off but data works.
Phone works well with Lycamobile SIM, so not an issue with phone.
Any suggestions?

update your prl with the preferred sim installed
Check your ESN number and make sure the ESN Verizon has matches whats on the account / phone.
Sounds to me like the re-activated SIM chip is providing you with LTE but the ESN is not connected with the CDMA system where your voice will be.
Do SMS also work? This too would be tied into the same CDMA system.
Thanks for all your suggestions.
After couple of factory restores, phone starting working today morning. Not sure what the issue was but everything is working fine. I am not sure if Verizon systems took so long to reflect the changes.
For the below question --> SMS was also not working.

Straight talk verizon sim and switching phones

Well I started out with a Note 3 broke it got another Note 3 and now upgraded to the Note 4 all verizon models all using the same straight talk verizon sim.
Service works on the note 4 BUT am limited to 3G. After talking to a few techs they finally told me I need a new sim card. They don't allow switching phones and keeping a single sim.
They are sending a new sim free of charge so at least that's a good thing. Just that I would put this info out there in case anyone else does that same as me and think you can just move the sim card and be good to go.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I switch my straight talk sim card between 3 different phones and never have a problem. One is my ZTE Lever (Straight talk phone), The second is motorola E2 (which is a verizon prepaid phone), and finally my galaxy note 4 ( which is a verizon phone). Everything works great with no problems at all anytime I switch. Maybe it's your apn settings.

Well on a stock 6.0.1 verizon note 4. I can't touch apn settings. Second I have only the imei of my first note 3 associated with my current sim card. I have service but not LTE. My wife has my second note 3 and I associated the imei with her sim and she gets 4g LTE no issue where I would only get 3g when I used it.
Straight talk won't fix it without a new sim. Which isn't a big deal. Order 2 sim kits from walmart for 2 bucks and will have them in a few days.

My s5 was like that. No other sim would work the 4g. That went for the sim in my s5 wouldn't work other phones 4g either (including other s5s). Now I have my sim from 3 note 4s ago and it works fine(broke one, got a bad one and now have a new one). I can also swap sim cards with my son's s4 and it works just fine. Guess some phones are just weird...

Yeah. I have issues getting this note 4 rooted so I can unlock the bootloader. I don't have a computer and only can borrow for short times which doesn't help.
This note 4 also locked me out when I put the new sim in. I never setup a pin number so couldn't unlock it and it totally erased everything even my SD card which I put back in after finished setup again. Very strange but at least I didn't lose anything. Always doing backups. Seriously want root now so I can do full restore.

My ST VZW works flawlessly after coming from an m7
Verizon can be touchy. Even when I wasn't using StraightTalk, but was on Verizon proper, I've had to replace my SIM to get 4G. Apparently they can get screwed up pretty easily. That being said, at least on VZ proper you should be able to swap SIM cards between phones easily.
Well both my wife's note 3 and my note 4 have 4g again on ST vzw. Which considering where we live is a minor miracle by itself. Went on a small drive 3 phones all vzw service. IPhone lost signal a lot, S5 a few times. My note 4 just once but it was a deep valley with lots of power lines crossing the road. Vzw service is the only service either from vzw or ST. No others even remotely work in this area. Living in the lakes region of New Hampshire in the middle of mountains might be nice views but is terrible for radio waves.

Can this phone run on Sprint network and do VOICE & DATA Simultaneously?

Can this phone run on Sprint network and do VOICE & DATA Simultaneously? like a Note 3 with dual antenna?
I know for a fact the S7 edge does not.
I do not think so

not sure which phones you were using before.
But since Galaxy S2, Note 2, Note 3 and beyond I've been able to browse the net, and Talk on the phone at the same time, as I needed to look up information while I was on the phone with customer service asking me for account information to verify my Identity, etc, etc...
So I'm pretty sure you can go Online, and Talk on the phone at the same time.
This even work back in the first Galaxy 1, Nexus S but those phones were so slow...

I just returned and S7 Edge with sprint service, I was replacing my note 3. The S7 Edge cannot do data and voice at the same time. say you have waze on and a phone call comes in. now you are talking on the phone and yo want to alert drivers of a policeman...guess what S7 no cant do. So I am trying to replaced my note but non of the current samsung phones ON SPRINT NETWORK can do that. The reason why the NOTE 3 can do it its because of the number of antennas it has in it hence the ability to use data and voice at the same time.
Until Sprint goes to VoLTe please keep your eyes on the road....geez.

It is not your phone's fault. Your network does not support calls and data at the same time.
Even Note 4 can use LTE data and VoLTE calls at the same time. Mine does.

Yes and no. SAMSUNG removed the CDMA antenna from the phone (note 3) has one. They knew or should had known that by doing that the phones on sprint network will not be able to do call and data simultaneously . The note 3 has the two antennas and that is why I am able to do that at this very moment on the sprint network. So basically they are selling you a phone with less capabilities than the replacement and they call it an upgrade go figure. They ahould had waited untill the networks catch up. On a second note veriOn supports VOLTE but at an extra cost. So the consumer pays premium for a phone upgrade and then pays again to have the same service as I do now with a note 3. We are really getting upgraded aren't we?

Oh, didn't know that. That must be a bummer for those who want to, but can't use voice and data simultaneously.

Unfortunately all new phones have one antenna which increases battery life but doesn't allow call/internet simultaneously. Sprint will be moving to voLTE once they get their LTE everywhere they can. Most people don't need this capability and there are workarounds using google voice to make calls. It doesn't bother me to not have since i don't usually use minutes. I can always look up whatever I need when I'm free again.

How do you use google voice and ia it effective
How do you use google voice ? And is it effective
Install Hangouts and Hangout Dialer and you are set
That is how I solve the stupid problem Sprint created by combining all in 1 antenna

I have note 5 with Sprint and since I upgraded my phone from Lollipop to Marshmallow and I'm able to do both calling and browsing at the same time when I have 4G(lte) network, but when I have 3G network, I can't do that.

Cricket WiFi calling

Anyone on cricket wireless? WiFi calling is rolling out... I never got VoLTE on my note 4, so I assumed is never hey WiFi calling. Already switched to att prepaid. ..
If anyone gets WiFi calling to work on an att device, please let me know.
My WiFi calling works on my stock Note 4 on AT&T. It took a while to get it setup. I had to change SIM cards because I was using my old SIM from the Note 2. With the new SIM, the tech at AT&T said they had to make sure my account has the WiFi Calling provisions. They turned it on. I had to wait about 10 minutes for it to take effect and the prompt went past the "Ooops..." message when setting up WiFi Calling. After that, I was able to enter my Address. I didn't test it until 3 or 4 days later. A friend on a Verizon iPhone called me (he's connected to his home WiFi) and WOW, the call clarity was high definition!
A few days later, my Note 4 battery died so I had to buy a battery replacement. I switched back to my Note 2 using the same (Note 4) SIM for 3 days. Of course, Note 2 has no WiFi calling. When I got my battery and switch back to the Note 4, I had to do the steps above again. (Switching phones might have removed that provision). I got WiFi Calling working once again.
EDIT: I'm not on AT&T Pre-Paid. I'm on the 1GB Mobile Share plan. (Yes, 1 GB...believe it or not, I only use about 500MB of data every month! I'm always on WiFi at home, work, gym, etc.)
I really wanted to get Wi-Fi calling on my note 4 on ATT network. Unfortunately I'm on prepaid plan and they told me this feature only available with contract
I'm on prepaid, I'm hoping att changes their mind on this...
