Hello,
I have problems with tethering by WIFI, USB working but BT not tried. It was working but one day my phone restarted while I was triying to connect with my laptop. After that i can enable tethering and in my phone it says it's on and seem ok, but the SSID is not showing in any device and i can connect even setting it up manually. It didn't show any error before restart so no idea what could it be.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Normally if it is connected to WiFi and if you know the WiFi has a good connection to the internet (i.e. no security, timing, aso.), it should connect. If WiFi does not work, it should try the Wireless connection. If u say that is also setup but still doesnot connect, try to connect it to the computer via USB and see if thats working.
I have used schaps 3.30c until a couple of hours ago and it was working with no issues over wifi and wireless... try hard reset then...
sorry i cant help more...

I got the htc wifi router working and surfed for a few minutes. I logged out of my PC and back in and the internet wouldnt work on my PC or my phone. I rebooted my phone and still the same problem. Has anyone else run across this problem? How do I fix it/troubleshoot it? 3G is showing it is connected
Has anyone else had this problem? I had to finally do a hard reset/wipe to get things working again.
There's another similar report here, maybe in the cdma area.
I'm not clear on your issue. Is this wmwifi not working after a reboot or Activesync not recognizing after the reboot?
And are you using the latest wmwifi?
edit: I'm adding that I downloaded the latest wmwifirouter last friday 18sep09, and I thought it was a vpn/wifi issue on my laptop. My TP2 did not recognize under activesync after I did a few things, but WM did work the one time I tested it.
I am not using wmwifi. I am using HTC CM Internet Sharing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4170499#post4170499
I figured it was put out by HTC (and free) so it should work right?
It created the wifi access point fine, and I was able to surf with my laptop at good speeds. I left and came back and the internet would no longer connect (laptop or phone).
I tried everything from soft rebooting, to removing the application, to calling *228 (reset the phone), and even manually setting up the verizon data settings. Nothing worked. I just could not establish a data connection.
Finally I gave up and did a hard reboot and restore and it finally worked.
I really need a reliable way of setting up a wifi access point but dont want to risk this fiasco again.
Yeah, I mis-read your first post, sorry!
For me it was as simple as starting the wifi router program and then cleanly stopping it. If forced to quit, you will have no network access. It's happened a couple times for me.

Hi there, I had used htc wifi router a while back and hadnt tried connecting the phone to the local wifi network since. After reading your post, I thought I'd check and yes I was getting the same problem, i.e. it wouldn't connect to my home wifi network.
I found the fix to be as follows:
1) Go into comms manager, turn WiFi on
2) Under settings go to wireless LAN
3) In the main tab you will that the SSID is set to "Mobile router", select change network button underneath.
4) Now you should see the SSID of your network, dont select anything, just press o.k at the top and hey presto it will connect.
Let us know if this worked.

Thanks. I couldnt connect to the internet through 3G either though, even though the 3G icon was showing in my status bar.

Ah, that's probably for some other reason, no issues with 3G connection for me.
Same problem for me. I connect to the mobile through wifi (Adhoc connection) and the mobile is connected in 3G but I can't surf internet from my laptop.
Enable DHCP
Hi all
Sometimes after using this software you need to renable DHCP in the connections settings. This can be done via:
Start>Settings>Connections>WiFi>Wireless Networks>Network Adaptors>NE2000 Compatible Ethernet Adaptor and then select Use server-assigned IP address.

hi i installed e htc wifirouter but it is using my mms setting instead of my phone internet setting. any1 can help?
I have been using both the CM Internet Sharing program and the WMWifiRouter with no issues for over a year now on my AT&T Tilt 2.
One day a couple weeks ago I had been using CM to connect my laptop to the internet. everything was just fine as usual.
At some point, I had disconnected and tried to reconnect, and since then I can no longer use either of these programs.
What happens is this...I turn them on and the phone will no longer hold a connection to the ad-hoc network that is created. Up in the status bar I see the icon showing WiFi trying to connect but it will not stick anymore.
I can connect to my office and/or home wifi router still. It just will not connect to the ad-hoc network any longer.
This makes no sense to me at all, since it has always worked and was even working earlier in the day when it stopped working.
I use the tethering frequently and really need to get this solved. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
NOTE: I am able to connect using WMWifiRouter using the USB connection option.
Any help? Please?
Hmm...
I had this problem on a stock WinMo 6.1 ROM, I fixed the problem by hitting Advanced in Comm Manager [or go into the WiFi setting in Settings-System] and then connect to an infrastructure point. Comm Manager doesn't like Ad-Hoc points for some reason. Did you try resetting WMWiFiRouter? There's a setting in it for that.
Not that I'm sure any of that will work, I at least got it to connect to normal access points now and make the Ad-Hoc connection, but there's no throughput in the connection and I really don't feel like reinstalling my custom ROM, so I just popped my SIM into my MyTouch. But that doesn't really help you... sorry...
Thanks, but none of that is gonna help.
I have no problem connecting to any normal wi-fi network.
It had no problem connecting to Ad-Hoc for the last year until the other day and NOTHING has changed.
I was using CM Internet Sharing and not WMWifiRouter. I switched back to WM because at least with that I can set it to use USB. But neither program is working with Ad-Hoc now.
I don't even see the setting for infrastructure point. I am not on a stock ROM. I also just realized my signature was old. I'm on a Tilt 2 with a custom Manila ROM.
It's just so weird cause it always worked and suddenly stopped!
Arg!!!!!!
Hi All,
I am trying to share my laptops internet connection with my Defy via a virtual miniport adapter(using a program called connectify)...my phone gets connected perfectly and I am able to surf the net on my phone..but only for a short time. After a while if I just let the phone be on standby for a while, it loses the internet connectivity. It remains connected to the hotspot(on my pc) but somehow there is no internet on the phone anymore. However if I turn off the wifi on my Defy and put it back again, the internet is back. I have tried almost everything but nothing seems to work. Initially i thought the problem might be with the connectify software on my system so tried using other softwares such as virtual router intel mywifi technology etc. I even tried to create a virtual wifi miniport manually from the command line but same problem everytime. I tried to change the wifi sleeo policy in my phone to never and that did not help too. I am running stock Froyo on my Defy. Sometimes when I turn off wifi and turn it back on it wont even connect to the access point, keeps showing scanning...connecting...scanning...connecting...then finally disconnected. I just cant understand what is wrong. If someone can throw some light on this...it would be really helpful, its almost 20 days since I am breaking my head over this.
Thanks
this might help
Install connectify and select wifi security mode as Ad-Hoc,WEP,this worked for me the defy sometimes seems to have a problem with WPA2.
Hello so on my s3 whenever i connect to my home WiFi it says authentication error. I know its not the router because it works great on my tv laptop and xbox. Also its not the phone because i can connect to public hotspots and my moms hotspot. If you know how to fix this problem and thanks in advance.
Maybe there's a certain limit to how many devices can connect to the router? Go into your router settings and check, if not go to your phone and try unchecking automatically connect to wifi then rebooting your phone. See if that helps!
