Would using the unlocked AT&T model on T-Mobile network result in any loss of quality in voice and/or data? I know that sometimes, the radio in one phone is not always compatible, especially when it comes to LTE.
Anyone have an idea?
I have an unlocked atnt note 4 n i am using it on t mobile. I have not noticed any problem. I get LTE n 4g on it. But think I lose the ability to make calls on wifi.
Thanks. For me, that is a deal breaker because wifi calling is right up there with the camera and music. Guess I'll just stick with it as is for now.

I understand that this phone has the same hardware and supports the ATT LTE bands. I am done with locked bootloaders, I need confirmation someone is using this phone on ATT Network w LTE successfully without any hacks..
Any other feedback will be great (call quality, radio performance on ATT network)
Seriously pondering getting the T-MO version. I am hoping I can get one off contract.
TIA
I am currently using the phone on at&t. LTE works. Just make sure you set your APN right. I just disabled WiFi calling because it is not supported.

Yes I am. I had to add the apn and then choose lte in the network section. Works great though.

Same here. Rooted, unlocked and running very smoothly, no lag at all.
Just need to get a case for it.

what is the apn setting bc im looking to switch to t mobile with the s3 att
I am NOT able to get this to work at all on mine. I am unlocked, rooted and I am using a red pocket sim that uses AT&T towers.
Any suggestions?
Did you get an unlock code from tmo, a 3rd party, or some sort of debug method a la s3 and note 2?

I'm considering buying the TMO variant to use on AT&T as well and I have a few questions related to this topic:
Would service reception be restricted to just LTE or can the T-Mobile S4 still receive AT&T's E, 3G, etc as well when used on AT&T's network?
Also, and I'm sure this is dependent on the answer to my first question, would the T-Mobile S4 work with the AT&T 3G Microcell?
Whos Lte is faster tmobiles or att.

hard to answer; it really depends on the area, but for the most part im pretty confident in saying t-mobiles LTE is faster.
see attached photo
I've been using the T-Mobile version on AT&T for a few days. I unlocked using the debug menu instructions in this forum, setup the AT&T LTE APN and set the preferred network to LTE. It works fine on LTE, hspa, etc.
Speed test results were 53Mb down, 19Mb up, 66ms ping in Raleigh, NC.
I gave away my microcell with my POS iPhone because the Samsung phones performed OK without it. So, I can't answer whether the T-Mobile version will work correctly with a microcell.

Hi all,
I have a Galaxy S4 I9500, I keep my brightness at full all the time. When I finish playing games even "subway surfer" for 10 minutes, and exit to the desktop, I find that brightness is lowered alittle bit & increase gradually to the previous state which is full brightness (from 5 to 10 seconds). Could this be a result of that when playing games, the device uses the 1.6 quad core CPU and upon exit it takes alittle time (those 5 to 10 seconds) to shift to the 1.2 quad core CPU?
Really need your help.
Thanks alot.
So it seems this is the perfect phone to use on AT&T due to all that bootloader problems and crap on the AT&T version.
So folks still running fine without issues with this device on AT&T's network? I know LTE bands over lap so those are fine and the specs for the other frequencies all line up too but any problems with any data or voice stuff at this point after more time has passed? Including text and media messaging?

I had left an area with LTE coverage before I was able to network unlock, so I can't comment as to how LTE is working... but I've had no problems using it on Edge or 3G, texting/mms, etc. It even works flawlessly on my Microcell with no modifications other than the network unlock.

Mohan,
Which phone are you getting? The T-mobile version or the Google S4? I read online that the Google version of S4 is the same as the T-mobile version. I'm a T-mobile customer but I want to follow you using the Embryo rom on your new phone selection and hopefully get wifi-calling feature. I'm currently using the Embryo rom on my T989. Thanks.
adding an APN ... issues
lemme ask what will undoubtedly be a noob question. i've unlocked my T-Mo S4. confirmed. i popped in my AT&T iPhone 5's SIM card and boot up. i see that i have a signal, am able to make and receive phone calls. but no data. when i look at the APN, i'm seeing Cingular APN. what gives? i thought the phone would auto-detect and attach to the correct APN and i'd be good-to-go. thoughts? do i need to manually add the APN? I have all of the info necessary. when i try to add the APN, i am able to get to the proper menu, add all of the info. however, when i try to "save" the info, it never shows up as an APN for me to select. so whatever info i've just entered was never saved.
help!

I'm using my phone on Tmobile right now. I just need mk2 radios to get lte to work same time as receiving calls. And correct answer.

where you able to get wifi calling? do you have a link to the rom you used?
thanks
Verizon has world phones, that have some GSM capabilities, they also have SIM cards, because LTE is GSM tech and SIM is part of LTE specs, so yeah it should work at least on some frequencies. The only ROM that has WiFi calling, as far as I know is T-mo. There was some guy claiming he loaded pretty much all different ROM's he could get into his Note and it worked, but don't remember details, do search maybe in International Note 3 forum and see if T-mo is mentioned. Not sure if you care, but right now loading ROM's could trigger Knox flag, so maybe research this before hand and I have a feeling soon we may have some new breakthrough, when loading any ROMS is no problem, but not sure if Knox flag can ever be reversed, once tripped, there is no way for now.
BTW I'm not sure if you're aware, once you have WiFi calling, you can call home from around the World on WiFi for free. Don't let other people call you, but you can make free international calls home as long as you're on WiFI. It does not work for local calls. That is outside the new international calling plan T-mo has.
My Verizon Note 3 worked somewhat on T-Mobile
I had my Verizon Note 3 functional on T-Mobile for about a week but ended up buying a used T-Mobile Note 3 after having random service issues. With the correct APN settings on the V Note 3, 4G worked and I was able to browse just fine but the phone was not reliable. Quite often after making a call, it would switch away from 4G (sometimes to Edge) and would take minutes to re-establish a reliable data connection on 4G. During this time, whether it was possible to make another call was a hit or miss. Even when it said 3g, or Edge, calling was sometimes not possible. Usually I would wait a while before trying again. Data was in and out at times. I was on the latest official Android release: 4.4.4. And other users with T-Mobile phones were not having similar issues in the same location so I know it was not location specific.
I thought about downgrading to another rom and rooting, then enabling LTE band 4, but I wasn't sure that would fix the service-related issues. Now with the T-Mobile version, I have zero service problems. We had a similar experience on T-mobile with a Verizon Galaxy S5 and after getting the T-Mobile version, the problems were fixed.
So, IMO, the V Note 3 does work on GSM networks like T-Mobile. How reliable it works compared to the other Carrier specific models is debatable.
hi all...
currently using tmobile galaxy note 3 with an at&t sim. the phone is in good standing. not blacklisted. i love the phone. currently using slim rom (latest). ever since i got the phone, i been having signal issues. there are times when the phone signal cuts off, no signal at all. and then there are times when, even though, it shows a signal no one can call me, it just rings or cuts the caller after a few rings. sometimes my gf would tell me shes been calling me, but i never got any calls/miss calls. sms would go through though. and when this is happening i would try to call a number, nothing happens, no ringing, no sound at all coming out of the earpiece. a reboot would remedy the issue. but its starting to get annoying.
can anyone help me out here. am i the only one with this issue?
thanks in advance.
wondering if i should install a at&t modem. can anyone tell me if that is a good idea??
are there any hardware differences between the ATT version and the T-Mobile version? I have not done the research, but it is possible that the ATT version does not have the correct GSM/LTE bands to get a good connection on T-Mobile.
I had similar issues using a Verizon Note 2 on T-Mobile and AT&T
I have the same issue. I even tried redoing my apn's and the problem continues...

at least now i know i am not the only one with the issue. i hope someone with more knowledge of the issue reads this and helps us.
regarding the frequency bands used, i am not sure.
I have issues if I don't use att after day and use tmobile it won't load data just voice, I turn it off and switch sims and load the data, turn off, switch back to att sim all is well.

So I bought an Att note 4 unlocked I bought it knowing I might have internet issues but it was cheap, and I'm having issues with the Internet it works fine its fast(not as fast as it should be) just very bad signal and constantly looses connection and searches for network I checked the apn it's on tmobiles network all looks fine, I'm guessing it might be the band issues but I'm using METROPCS which uses Tmobiles network I had a G3 and G2 pervious to getting the note 4 both where from tmobile and never had a single issue with those I would always get full signal never dropped a call not only that I would get download speeds and upload of over 30mbps now it's taken a dump. Any suggestions? I despise att because I use my network a lot away from home I was averaging 150gb a month on my G3 now it seems that it will be hard to do that with this phone pretty bumped use Netflix a lot watch movies online download games etc. :crying:
I have at&t note 4 too on Tmobile and I'm not able to get AWS tmobile bands. Any way to do this as was done with note2 and 3. Tha ks
I have the same setup
I get wierd download speeds
I average about 3-4 down and 12 - 20 up
On 4g lte
I have tried everything only 2 different apn servers to try
Everything works ...just slow for the most part
It's not a tower issue either...it's like that everywhere
Download should always be faster than upload
Tmobile tech support blames the unlocked at&t phone

I blame the phone never had issues with tmobile phones till I got this att version of the note 4
I would think you can't get too upset if you're using a phone from one carrier on another, right? I mean there ARE differences between the networks and the devices themselves...
I have a note 4 from att running 6.0.1. Recently the Internet (mobile not WiFi) would start cutting out and completely losing service for no reason every 5 minutes or so. Very agitating if I'm trying to watch a video or do anything on the internet, really. Anyways, I am using Cricket Wireless, which is a subsidiary of ATT. I tried out an ATT sim card as well and the issue is still present. I factory reset my phone and it's still doing it. However, if I ender the developers code into the dialer and brought up mobile network information, I could set the phone to use GSM/CDMA only (no LTE) and the issue went away completely. But now, I have much slower speeds than if I were to be using LTE which kinda sucks. Does anyone know a way to fix this?
