I just broke my phone so I pulled out my old G2. I was wondering if its possible for me to get S-off and flash custom roms without ADB? I found a way to root without a PC but that was for older phones. I am on gingerbread 2.3.4.

Hi
I was wondering if there was a way to remove some of the bloatware on a non rooted phone. With all of the issues I have read trying to root a 3.30 phone (I have hdwr 003 and software 3.30.651.3) is a pain in the butt and as much as I would like wifi tether I just don't feel comfortable doing it yet.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
There is no way unless you're rooted.
impossible. rooting is not very hard. if you have a mac, i am STILL looking for beta testers for my 3 command full root kit.
It just won't root....I've tried the old version and newest version of z4root and nothing ...I dine have a PC atm so any solutions using a PC is not an option!
..plaza help.
Z4root was patched in 2.2.2 (EC05). You're going to have to use a pc, whether it's a friends or even one in a library.
think they'll ever update it to work with 2.2.2?
No. The exploit z4root used was patched so it would have to be a whole new root method which doesn't make sense to search for when froyo is outdated.
so i rooted my amaze and upgraded to ics but when im on my phone i cant use superuser (the app is there) no root access from within phone
however when i have checked my root via usb and computer i am told it is rooted also cannot obtain s off having issues with controlbear (not even able to make it to the wire trick) if anyone can be of advice i would realllly apprecciate it as i am now done trying all the solutions i am seeing on google feel like a chicken running around
Currently running version 4.3 stock and i have a problem, my charging port is currently damage so i can't plug it in to the computer to root. Is there some kind of way i can root my device by flashing some kind of custom recovery without using a computer or something. PLEASE HELP ME IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW I CAN ROOT THIS DEVICE CAUSE I FOUND NOTHING
I mistakenly allowed Sprint to update my phone. Towelroot was the solution to rooting without a USB connection before, but this new version is not supported.
Is there anything I can do? I assume Towelroot has no plans to update its S3 exploit, considering the age of the phone.
Thanks for any help.
(The USB port is completely destroyed - including the contacts on the PCB.)

Click to collapse
downgrade = brick....you need to fix your USB port in order to root
