It seems to be frozen. The Development board is quiet. Unless someone comes along with another Android OS level exploit like Towelroot, I don't see it happening for the Fire Phone. I hope I'm wrong, because I really like the phone, despite its flaws.

Yes me to got the potential to be a great little phone, just a bit sad that that were all stuck with fire os

[Q] kindle fire 2nd gen

NOOB question:::Is the development for kindle fire 1st & 2nd gen the same, i.e do the same roms work on both or does one have to use a separate rom
Please do not use anything that is intended for the first gen device you will end up with a fancy paperweight. No roms or root methods should be used they are only intended for first gen devices.
Thnks for the info..m glad i didnt do anything stupid

That's what this whole site is about. Obviously you're invalidating your warranty if you do this, but the whole point is to have a better UI than what Amazon provides.
One comes to this site in hopes of finding out that there really is hope to making their tablet/phone into a supertablet/superphone.
So it's fine to flash stuff to your kindles peoples. Don't listen to this guy.

In all fairness, it's not our responsibility to make sure any particular user fully understands the risks of attempting to modify their device...as a matter of fact, it's expected that they do. If someone doesn't have the knowledge and/or the common sense to do the appropriate amount of research before taking on such an endeavor, then they deserve any adverse outcome that happens as a result.

Where can I download the kindle fire drivers?

I know the kfu has where you can install the drivers but where can I download it to install it manually?

Hey hi
Please note kf doesn't need drivers
If you r connecting it to your pc then I suggest you to try connecting it to back USB port on CPU

If that doesn't help your best choice is contacting Amazon support through chat

They'll help in the sense that they say “what did you do? Root it? OK, well no more warranty for you, no returns, no help, and don't ask for any more support from us!" So if that is what you mean by help, they will most definitely help you!
Just in case my sarcasm wasn't clear, DON'T contact Amazon support to help you, just do what you did, and ask here where this is a nice community of devs and support.
And greezal, another option that I think should work is getting the drivers through the android SDK, but I don't know. Did previous comments work?
What sort of problem are you having?
You also might want to read this thread, and see if this is similar to what you're experiencing.

I was having trouble with the usb mass storage, but I had to uninstall the driver and reinstall and the rom I flashed threw me for a loop. but I figured it out now. Thank for all the help with all my problems and questions.
ROOT does not mean void warranty for good, just mean void warranty till you unroot or use cwm to return kindle to stock rom

You can install very useful apps that require root access for example like titanium backup, better battery stats, rom manager, root explorer.....
And also you can install roms and kernels.

Wrong thread.
This is not the Q&A thread.
A new post here on this topic should tell people what the pros and cons of rooting are not ask them.
All the information you want is available already and you asking us to put it all in one thread at your beck and call is rather lazy.

your phone your choice
Benefits of rooting? Basically none for me. Yeah sure you can play with stuff. Install custom roms... void your warranty etc
I always rooted and installed custom roms but decided to go stock and only bother updating roms when updates are officially released and havent missed root one little bit.
It greatly depends on what your trying to achieve. If getting stuff done with no disruption, stability and an intact warranty are important to you then stay stock. If you enjoying tinkering, flashing "new" roms etc then go for it!
I was burned though, i got the complete piece of crap that is the htc one x last year. Voided my warranty with htc dev unlock THEN found out the phone had many issues due to awful build and quality control. I then vowed to never buy htc again. Bought an s3 then an lte note 2 and wont be looking back

AW: Benefits of rooting?
I will have the full controll over my Device.

You can make the phone you just paid £100's for, yours. i.e, getting rid of bloatware, unused apps that came on the phone.
I'm new to rooting/flashing roms, kernels etc but i can tell you... Do your research before thinking you're god. If you're unsure how to do it, research it.
When you 'think' you know how to do it, read more. Only do things when you are 100% sure you can.
I've fully customized my Galaxy s3 and never looked back. My phone is MINE
Search before asking, Ask before acting and you will succeed.
Full control of your device, sixaxis, themese, mods

Glad that you realize theres nothing like a good root.
I wouldn't sweat rooting until you find an app that you want that requires root.
There are plenty though. My root apps:
Afwall+ - firewall
catlog - browse logcat (for debugging apps)
cerberus - security program
LBE security master - block apps from using various permissions
multi window manager - use any app in multiwindow
quickboot - nice boot program, makes it easy to boot into recovery mode.
titanium backup - backup/restore your phone or programs
xposed installer/settings - change dpi for individual programs
directory bind - Put game data on external SD card so they don't fill your phone up.
And of course, install roms and junk.
Changing/randomly adding things is more customizable if you have root - cool bootup movie, lightsaber sound when you pull out the stylus, etc etc.

The disappearance of Wambo_Bomb...

What's up with Wambo_Bomb's sudden disappearance?
I was looking to see if he had upgraded one of his roms and I suddenly start to see that most of the threads he started are gone.
Does anyone have any intel on what happen?
His roms were some of the best out for the OG Evo... what do we do know?
Will it be possible for someone to continue his work?
I don't think anyone knows a ton, but according to his post in the Original Development thread he will continue his work on android.aokforums.com.
He is still pumping out quality work but is no longer posting on xda. Like many of the good devs xda has become more of a pain. The reasons why I shall not go into. Just check out aokforums.

I'm looking for someone who was able to do it too. I hope someone shows up here and share with us.
Moved to Q&A.
as in Chrome OS, or just Chrome the browser?
Chrome Browser can be installed from Playstore, but I think you are talking about Chrome OS, and as far as that goes...there has been no development on it.

Yeah but if you think about it the hardware on the latest phones are more then adequate for Chrome OS. If some developers could get together and make it work it would be awesome and I'd be willing to donate. Imagine a phone and a semi full os when plugging into a monitor.

That would be superb and great feature. Well we just wait for the developers to make a move.
I am also looking for this app. Can anyone develop this app for Note3. It is cool if any one can do this.
I think it has no devs here yet
