Where can I download the kindle fire drivers? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know the kfu has where you can install the drivers but where can I download it to install it manually?
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using xda app-developers app

Hey hi
Please note kf doesn't need drivers
If you r connecting it to your pc then I suggest you to try connecting it to back USB port on CPU
Sent from my MT11i using xda app-developers app

Ok i will try that
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using xda premium

If that doesn't help your best choice is contacting Amazon support through chat
They'll help for sure

You can install the driver using superonclick 2.3.3 as well me laptop seemed to like that one better then the one inside kfu (kindle fire utility 0.9.6

They'll help in the sense that they say “what did you do? Root it? OK, well no more warranty for you, no returns, no help, and don't ask for any more support from us!" So if that is what you mean by help, they will most definitely help you!
Just in case my sarcasm wasn't clear, DON'T contact Amazon support to help you, just do what you did, and ask here where this is a nice community of devs and support.
And greezal, another option that I think should work is getting the drivers through the android SDK, but I don't know. Did previous comments work?
What sort of problem are you having?
You also might want to read this thread, and see if this is similar to what you're experiencing.

I was having trouble with the usb mass storage, but I had to uninstall the driver and reinstall and the rom I flashed threw me for a loop. but I figured it out now. Thank for all the help with all my problems and questions.

ROOT does not mean void warranty for good, just mean void warranty till you unroot or use cwm to return kindle to stock rom

Devs needed for TWRP port

It would seem that TWRP 2.0 is the best option as a recovery for the KF because of its touch interface. 2.0 is not available to the public yet but the team is willing to help get it running on the KF. I have emailed the team and they said they just need devs whom own the device to get on board. I have enough experience to attempt a port and do some testing but not enough experience to do it alone. Anyone interested? Lets go! PM me, post here, and definately stop by the TWRP chat #[email protected] The source for twrp is available via github and there is some info on the twrp website. This seems way more realistic then trying some multi push button Clockwork port

Ditto, I'll contribute monetarily since that's about the only tangible thing I have to give the project...(as opposed to skills, knowledge, etc, etc)
very nice..
I'll toss $50 in the pot on this. Lemme know.
I am not a developer, but have two Fires and both are rooted.
I will be available to test stuff for the developers.

That's awesome JP! I hope you succeed with your port. I'm really looking forward to keeping my Kindle Fire but im scared. I was thinking about returning my KF to get the HTC Flyer. But I like the KF, its built quite nice. So if you need any public testing done, im your guy.
I wish i new about code...is there a youtube vid for learning this stuff?

lol I think you'll need a few youtube videos and a few web pages and a few years to get it all straight.
There are a lot of good people working on this, I have faith that it won't be long
I've put a call out you're anyone in Austin to meet up for an evening, we'll get TWRP2 working. It's currently still closed-source, so only TW members can port the GUI at present. The build tree is kinda a mess, but we've already started the effort. Just need to test and calibrate.

That is a stock graphic. It doesn't tell us anything.
Honestly, if you cannot tell whether you have a Kindle Fire or Kindle Fire 2, you probably shouldn't be messing with it in the first place.
[edit:] In the link I posted earlier, you will find information on how to tell which Kindle Fire you have, and whether or not you're in the right place. Pay attention. That is, unless you just want to throw your money away.

Hey my phone is rooted but I don't have a backup!!...I also already have Hemidall already downloaded so what is the next process??
I've never used heimdall, I have Windows but go to galaxys3root.com and there is a guide there on how to root. Just follow those steps and it should work. You will lose all the data on your internal sdcard though

Did you install that from the market? If so that app has bricked countless sg3's including mine. That app should have a warning or just be removed from the market its terrible, there are other ways to get beats installed without bricking your device!!

I agree DO NOT USE that site. But my main reason for visiting this thread was to say Beats sucks. Get good headphones and PowerAmp and you should get way better sound quality.

[Q] kindle fire 2nd gen

NOOB question:::Is the development for kindle fire 1st & 2nd gen the same, i.e do the same roms work on both or does one have to use a separate rom
Please do not use anything that is intended for the first gen device you will end up with a fancy paperweight. No roms or root methods should be used they are only intended for first gen devices.
Thnks for the info..m glad i didnt do anything stupid

That's what this whole site is about. Obviously you're invalidating your warranty if you do this, but the whole point is to have a better UI than what Amazon provides.
One comes to this site in hopes of finding out that there really is hope to making their tablet/phone into a supertablet/superphone.
So it's fine to flash stuff to your kindles peoples. Don't listen to this guy.

In all fairness, it's not our responsibility to make sure any particular user fully understands the risks of attempting to modify their device...as a matter of fact, it's expected that they do. If someone doesn't have the knowledge and/or the common sense to do the appropriate amount of research before taking on such an endeavor, then they deserve any adverse outcome that happens as a result.

It seems to be frozen. The Development board is quiet. Unless someone comes along with another Android OS level exploit like Towelroot, I don't see it happening for the Fire Phone. I hope I'm wrong, because I really like the phone, despite its flaws.
Yes me to got the potential to be a great little phone, just a bit sad that that were all stuck with fire os
