[Q] Slow loading web pages - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Using Chrome but having same problem with most other browsers also. I am having problems when trying to browse the internet, the sites are slow loading. Also recently it has gotten very bad when d/l apps or updating apps in the background from the Play store the sites will not load until the apps have finished d/l. My WIFI sigal is very strong and my connection speed 144Mbps. I thought it might be my ad blocker so I disable it but that did not help. I do have a antivirus running (Bluepoint Pro) do not know itif that could be a problem though. I am not rooted.

Check your background load with setings/developer options/cpu load, maybe there's some process stealing resources?

I see many things running and have stopped some of them. Out of curiosity how do I determine what is a heavy load and what is not. I notices at the very top of the "show cpu load" ther are 3 numbers divided by "/" . Does that tell me the load ratio, how should I interpet it?
Also, when I open Play store it tells me to "retry" because there is no connection the same with Youtube. When I "retry" they connect. Could this be a part of my problem also?

Think I found the problem, goto: chrome://flags/#max-tiles-for-interest-area and changed default and changed max tiles to 256. This has improved loading alot.

Market and Youtube problem on Wi-Fi (CM 7)

I've been having trouble trying to download apps or watching youtube videos on Wi-Fi since I installed CM7.
On the Market, when I try to install a new app or update an existing one, I get the download bar and status bar icon but the download just stalls at 0%, if I switch to 3G it works but my connection is ridiculously slow (I'm on a cheap 256kbps unlimited plan).
With Youtube, I can browse videos perfectly but when it comes to playing them, they won't start. I get the loading spinning circle for a couple of minutes and then I get the error and retry dialog.
Things I've already tried:
-Wiping cache and dalvik cache.
-Reflashing G-apps.
-Clearing data + cache + uninstalling updates of both apps.
-Signing in to Google Talk before attempting to download apps.
-Deleting the LOST.DIR on my SD Card (can't delete .android_secure).
I've seen this problem on other forums and other models but nothing seems to work for me, so maybe it's a Defy-only problem that hasn't been fixed yet.
Hope someone here has an answer for this.
TL;DR version: Youtube and Market don't work over Wi-Fi, only 3G.
EDIT: Just tried downloading (on 3G) and installing the Set DNS app and Youtube now works; no luck with the Market but at least it loads faster now...
If you can't go to the normal market, go to a black market is a good solution
Ex: Appplanet, aptoide...
It's good that youtube somehow fixed.
Thanks for your reply but I rather stay away from those kind of places, I don't want to take the risk of infecting my phone with something weird, lol. Besides I would lose the convenience of regular updates to all my apps.
I know.
I'm working on making a trusted repo. in Aptoide, where people will safe when installing apps in there.
Also, I will make it Defy-only.
@ Xummoner .. The SetDNS, which options did you select to get thru the YouTube?
I just went to Preferences and un-ticked the Override 3G DNS (since my 3G works fine and I don't want to take the chance of messing it up) and then on the main screen I chose Open DNS and Apply.
EDIT: I'm beginning to think that the issue is not related to the phone, or maybe is a combination of different things because a lot of users have been having the same problem in my country trying to access the Market and Youtube using Wi-Fi connected to a certain ISP which might be blocking the ports needed for the Market, but I'll have to investigate further.

Slow Data With Some Apps

Anyone notice some apps are slow to load certain things. Engadget takes forever to load anything while Facebook takes as long to load images. When I originally installed these apps, they ran fine. I did disable some bloat ware and think that maybe the culprit. I re enabled some without change and going to re enable more.

[Q] browser wifi issues

Ever since I got my wifi only 32gb model I been having wifi connectivity issues and browsers like the standard one and Google Chrome say that I lost wifi connection but is not true as I have the puffin browser it works just fine. Even when I try to do a search on the standard browser and Google Chrome it tells me the site has moved or gives me another error. Not to mention when I tried to update some apps like the New York times it gave me an error 923. Anyone else experiencing this or knows how to fix it? I paid too much for this tablet to be having this many issues. Thanks.
UPDATE: After restoring and installing all my apps one by one I found my problem. The issues was with kaspersky tablet antivirus which for some reason is looking for a proxy when I use the default browsers like Google Chrome. I will be contacting the kaspersky because they cause a huge headache.

If you keep "Install from Unknown Sources" unchecked and let Google scan your apps on the rare occasions that you do, these kinds of programs really aren't needed and will just slow down your tablet.
(Now, if you grab games and pirate apps from non-Google sites and such, then yeah, but that's your own doing anyway).

XDA not loading well in Chrome

For months now i've had problems using xda. The loading would hang and wait. If I looked at the developer tools in chrome, I can clearly see that for some reason it was constantly pending loading at objects attached to hosts like this:
www1-lw.xda-cdn.com
www2-lw.xda-cdn.com
forum.xda-cdn.com
forum-lw-1.xda-cdn.com
forum-lw-2.xda-cdn.com
It was failing to load with Chrome on Android, Linux, and Windows. Firefox would load correctly. Interesting thing is that when I connect via a VPN and then test with Chrome it would load fine. I would say it is just my IP address and routing but this has been over a period of time when my ISP IP address has changed. I've verified that and it is still an issue. I have no other issues with any other site.
If there are details I can provide, let me know. If this is the wrong forum for a problem like this, let me know that too. I've gotten to the point that I block the listed cdn addresses in my hostfile so that they immediately fail and my pages load but obviously that rids me of images and other elements along with not letting you guys recoup cost for ADs.
There seems to be something with the CDNs XDA uses.

Connection is fine. Its a 100M UP/DOWN connection. No adblocking. Zero issues for anything else. I stream a lot of data from various sources. Im a very heavy user and never have any issues with any site but XDA. The fact that it works over the VPN is interesting since it would route it through a different path. The fact that it loads fine without the VPN connection in firefox only is also interesting. As I said, this has been going on for a long time. I'm quote sure it isn't my 'connection'. Of course it could be routing or a problem with the CDNs.
All other page elements load correctly except for all the CDN URLs according to the developer tools in Chrome. The problem is the page won't actually 'render' anything until the CDNs timeout.

i know ill probably get a talking to, but try an ad blocker. xda is chalk full of ads, very very many! that could have an affect. btw, i use adfree http://adfree.odiousapps.com/adfree.apk
It goes further. Even with an adblocker, the page doesn't load properly. Some of those CDNs load real elements. So even with ads being blocked, page would still not load.
Same here. Browser is irrelevant. "Waiting for www1-lw.xda-cdn.com..."
I'm having the same issue. "Waiting for www1-lw.xda-cdn.com..."

Are you using chrome 53? Upgrade to Chrome application and platforms with version 55, then try again.

My chrome will load slow/hang if i visit xda(open many tabs) with whitelisted adblock(ublock). When hang I can see under taskmanager the page consuming 1gig+ ram. Sites like gsmarena is fine whitelisted, no performance issues so maybe you can see what they're doing right.
I haven't been able to go to the main xda page for over a week now on Chrome, with or without adblock on, it loads in IE but who wants to use that?

You can try Upgrade to Chrome application and platforms with version 55.
I have the same issue. The issue is not present in Firefox. Difference ? MAYBE due to the limit of open connections pr host in google is lower than in Firefox.

Actually, disabling adblock plus helps.

The issue is also present on Firefox and is rather network related. I often have issues loading xda at home and it stucks at opening www1-lw.xda-cdn.com, but at work it works fine almost ach time. This is happening for at least half a year now and there are days (not often tho) where everything loads instantly.

You should disable add blocker.
Same issue, waiting for www1-lw.xda-cdn.com on XDA frontpage, been like this for around a year now. uBlock is disabled. To remedy this, I have to load the XDA Forums in another tab, refresh XDA Frontpage and it's all working good
Same here. I would logon to the site way more often if this dind't happen.
Same here, @theBIGone, I see you're in Amsterdam as well, maybe it's location based as well?
Netherlands here too. Exact same issue.
I was having terrible lockups whilst browsing XDA for ages, to the point that I thought xda was running one of these CoinMining scripts on users. I actually enabled adblockers and the issue totally vanished. Weird.

Play Store stuck on "Download Pending"

OK, I"m baffled. I've looked everywhere for the solution, including all over this web site.
My SM-G960U running stock Android 9 periodically goes into a mode where it marks all app updates and other downloads as "Download Pending." After a while (measured in days) it downloads everything and goes back to normal for a while. This behavior occurs irregularly and appears to me to be unrelated to some change I made in settings. For a while, I was able to correct the problem by force-stopping the Play Store and clearing its cache, but lately, even that doesn't work. I've also tried force-stopping, clearing the cache and data; no luck. Somebody wrote on this web site "Just turn on battery saver and your apps will update." I don't see "battery saver" anywhere and "maximum power saving" mode won't even let me get to the play store. I've adjusted the apps permissions to everything on.
This time around it's been more than a week and I have 68 updates in "download pending."
Once again, I am running stock, have not attempted to root the device nor have I modified it with any ROMs. Auto-update is normally off. (I don't see the point in updating bloatware that I don't use.) However, this problem continues with it on. The problem also persists whether on cellular data or wifi and I've told the app to use either one.
Please help me solve a very frustrating problem. Thanks.

I don't think battery saving will help, actually it will limit background processes. But that guy meant by "battery saver" an option called "Medium power saving", you can find it above the "maximum power saving" in power mode menu.
I had a similar problem, sometimes when I try to download an app, it says "download pending" so I go to "my apps & games", and I press "update all" then I press "stop", then I download the app again and everything works fine...

Try clearing DATA for the play store and Google Play Services (Will probably have to log back in to Google Play)
Thanks, guys for helping. Turns out it appears to be my VPN, which was one of the first things I looked into.
Connections > More connection settings > VPN got me to a "Settings" icon which in turn allowed me to turn off "Block connections without VPN. I then turned off the VPN and the Play Store started DL-ing the updates.. Don't know why this is in device settings, rather than the app's settings, but it is.
I will work with the VPN provider to see if their app and the Play Store can play together nicely.
For the moment, at least, I'm calling this one "Solved."
Why would using a VPN prevent updating apps from the play store?

My phone didn't do that running Android 8, it was after the update in Android 9. Is there any way around this? What if the Wi-Fi router used the VPN setting and the phone was just receiving that WIFI VPN signal. So the phone would not have VPN on it, would you still need to disable the VPN in the router settings to download and update apps?
