About arco68's CyanogenMod 11.0 - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

I would like to install this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588495 latest rom to my i8150. But I am confused a little bit . At the top of thread he/she recommends recovery-clockwork-6.0.5.1-ancora, but at the end ClockworkMod v6.0.4.5. Which one is right? And what is NB! mean? If I understood him/her correctly, when I upgrade my recovery to v6.0.5.1, I will never be install a rom that posted before CyanogenMod 11.0 but next roms will. So is recovery mod were downgradeable or not? :fingers-crossed:
thanks for your interest? :silly:

you have to install the 6.0.5.1 version , ((Then go to "advanced" menu, and select reboot recovery. When new recovery has loaded, select wipe data/factory reset, then go to "mounts and storage" menu and select format /system. Then select "format /data and /data/media")) , i dont know what NB meaning , but this way is just for the first time you install the cm12 , make sure you put the cm12 rom on external sd , then if you want to flash another lower version such as cm11 , you have to flash clock work mod 6.0.4.5 , sorry for my weak language

Question about desire after S-off revol.

Hello XDA'ers!,
[Already used search function btw].
There are a few things a need some answer for.
Some info:
After having the official gingerbread update from HTC I used Revolutionary
TO s-off and root (with some zip file) my phone. Now my phone has Cynanogenmod 7. If im correct the recovery i have is: Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4.
Now here are the questions:
1: I want to install MIUI, what do i have to do in recovery before installing this rom. Do I have to do something like clear cache or wipe data or something? + Where can i find the official MIUI roms? THere are different websites.
2: I have the Revolutionary Recovery and Rom Manager says i have to flash clockworkmod recovery before i can search for roms etc. Is it worth it to install it over the revo recov?
1) Before flashing ANY new rom it's always best to do a nandroid backup in case something goes wrong (you can restore to how it was when you made your backup).
Before you flash the rom you've chosen you should do the three wipes... In recovery "wipe data/factory reset", "wipe cache partition", "advanced/wipe dalvik cache".
Install your new rom... "install zip from sd card", "choose zip from sd card".
2) The (seemingly) most popular miui rom here is this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957291.
Download the version you require and place onto your sd card. Then go to step 1 above.
3) Most people would recommend not using rom manager, but the choice is yours. Flashing the newest cwm recovery will make no difference really to when you wanna flash a rom.
Hey Zedmarcus,
thank you so much for your response!
Really helped a lot.
No problem. Helping and sharing is what it's about
If it helps, hit the thanks

Big problem with Cyanogen 7.1 and 7.2

Every morning, I must go to the Parameters menu and choose my provider's network because Android "forget" it during the night. If I don't do that, I can't use my 3G connection, but I can make and receive calls.
This bug is on the 7.1 and 7.2 ROMs
Please help !
Did you tried reading the rom thread?
I'm using 7.2 and it's all fine here.
Yes.
It happen even with the 7.1, a stable ROM.
And this problem doesn't appear with others ROMs

The One Carrying the number 260 its the latest nightly friend while the other is The release candidate. i suggest you go with the RC cz nightlies are experimental and may have problems.Hope That I Helped You Bro
Ok it works.
Instead of doing "full wipe", I did "format all partitions (except sdcard)"
After that, I have installed the ROM 7.1 and it works.

Odd problem installing latest CM11 Builds (install wizard FCs)

I've been trying to install the latest CM11 builds, both the April 27th NIGHTLY and the May 3rd RC5, downloaded from the androidarmv6.org site.
Been using CWM 6.4.0.7.
Steps taken: Reset to factory (wipe /data and /cache). Flashed the image. Rebooted to phone.
It reboots okay and it allows me to make an Emergency Call, but, the Android Setup wizzard stops when I select the right language (the right language comes detected/preselected, actually) and hit the 'Next' button (the kind of 'Play' arrow). It just force closes on me.
I tried reverting to the CM March 17th build which worked fine before and it does the exact same thing on me, too... while it did work before...!
What am I missing?? Hope some can help!
Thx!!!

Flash PhilZ Recovery, Go To Wipe Menu In PhilZ Recovery and Select "Clean to install a new ROM", Now Flash ZIP and then only wipe data, if it does not work, delete setupwizard.apk from /system/app inside the zip and flash again

Thanks for your quick answer!
Going over the installation instructions for PhilZ and consecutively a new ROM, I found I had missed one step: format /system before flashing a new ROM...
With my "old" CWM 6.4.0.7 still on, I managed to install the RC5 build from androidv6arm.org... And it seems to work just fine.

that's what "clean to install a new ROM" does i.e format /system, /data, /cache etc BTW IT IS CWM 6.0.4.7 aand you are typing 6.4.0.7, if I am wrong then please give me the link.

LOL, me and numbers... could just as well have typed 6.0.7.4 and still meant 6.0.4.7. I got not the latest (PhilZ' ends with an 8, mine with a 7, so, likely 6.0.4.7 ;p )
I did check out PhilZ but as I had nothing I couldn't open a terminal window to install it per the instructions that come with it...

Via CWM recovery all ROM flashing way is almost same, no matter which model you have. But the matter is which version (ROM/kernel) support your device. Before flashing new ROM you need to confirm few things:
1. Bootloader status
2. S-NO/OFF
3. Root status
4. Supported Custom Recovery
5. Is that ROM/kernel support your device?

If these issues are met then you can go further. Now download your desired ROM and GApps in your SD card (root-directory of your eg. /storage/sdcard/0/) and follow the thread (your desired ROM) instruction (if there are) or follow these:
Code:
Boot into your Custom Recovery
wipe data/factory reset & cache partition
wipe battery stats (if this option available in your custom recovery)
wipe dalvik cache
format everything except sdcard
Flash the files via "install zip from sdcard" > "choose zip from sdcard"
wipe cache partition (remember your gapps install location. If, the location is cache partition then leave it)
wipe dalvik cache
reboot system
Remember you need good battery health before going recovery mode. Hope this will help you.

Do a clean installation:
I assumed that you already saved cm9 rom and cm9 gapps in your external sd-card so, boot into recovery mode then,
select "wipe data / factory reset"
go to "mounts & storage" and format /system.
under the same menu, format /sdcard (be careful NOT to format /external_sd by mistake)
install cm9 rom
install cm9 gapps
reboot your phone
