Still heat exists - Xiaomi Redmi 1S

Hi everyone. Is the heat persist for everyone. Mine in average 65 degree centigrade and going to Max 73 degree centigrade (through cputemp in status bar xposed module). I'm using telsa rom latest build (based on CM11 R17). I have also tried many custom roms and kernels, mods, underclock but same heating problem. Is there anything I'm missing out. Is there anything really working heat problem solution .

Please help let me know any information to be provided further.

try latest carbon rom... mine doesn't go above 38 deg, 45 deg n 60 deg while idle, while using phone n while playing games resp...

Try Latest Carbon or CM11.
I didn't noticed any heating issues in the latest CM11 builds!

I believe that the price of the phone tells us we should NOT have great expectations.Still,it turned out to be an amazing phone, with a great camera, good performance,no major issues(trust me,i owned an xperia L.that phone has obvious issues and Sony does nothing to fix them.I would sue them if I could for selling that on the market). The heating problem can't be avoided.I'm using latest CM11 and I use mostly balanced profile(1401 mHz top frequncy),and when using the phone to send texts,a little browsing, calls and so on it doesn't get heated up,or it gets a little warmer if you watch youtube videos for example, but when I play games, that's a whole new story. It is obviously that the phone is very hot,way above average. And that's it,we have to deal with it.We can't do anything, that's how the phone was build, the materials they used and so on.On stock the phone has some thermal engine control,if the phone got too hot it dropped the CPU frequency. Now on CM11,there's nothing similar,so we have to be careful to not let it stay hot as hell for too long,it might burn the CPU.I will ask the rom developer about this concern.Hope I helped you.All the best !

The best solution for "Heating Problem And Faster Battery Draining":
1)Flash latest Carbon Rom RC6 4.4.4 (it has its own kernel which is very much optimized and has some more governers)
2)After flashing Carbon Rom click go to settings>about phone> click build number 5 to 6 times to activate Developer options and Performance menu.
3)In performance menu Set maximum speed to 998 Mhz and minimum to 300 Mhz, Set the Governer to "conservative" and I/O Scheduler to "cfq".(If you play games alot then set max frequency to 1190)
4)Install Xposed framework
5)Install Greenify app, now activate its module in Xposed Framwork.
6)Add all applications to greenify list and greenify them. Set the Working mode to Boost. Also check auto hibernation mode.
7)Also create a hibernate now shortcut to homescreen to greenify apps frequently when you dont use them.
Now your phone will never heat and it will increase your battery by 50%
Enjoy

[Q] Temperatures

Hey guys,
I wanted to know some basic things about the temperatures of the phone, both battery and CPU. The thing I would like to know is, what are normal temperatures of the battery and CPU, and what is not normal (not healthy) for the phone itself.
I'm asking this because my phone gets warmer and warmer since a month or so, the CPU easily gets to 63 degrees celcius by just watching the homescreen or browsing. I've tried many ROMs and kernels, but the heat still is the same on those.
Please give some feedback.
This is what I got so far:
CM9 Nightly's
- Stock kernel - 63 degrees
- GLaDOS kernel (NO OC) - 63 degrees
- Trinity (1344mhz) - 63 degrees
AOKP #39 (working on it)
- Stock kernel - 42 degrees
- GLaDOS -41 degrees
MIUI 2.6.8
- Stock miui kernel?? - 60± degrees
*All these results are from browsing the internet and other minor things.

I stop here...
To answer your question the CPU temp depends of your settings like overclock,undervolt,rom/kernel,room temperature,etc...Actually what is your rom/kernel and settings?
Some roms/kernels suffers of heat problem according to some users...
63°C if you do nothing expect just watch your screen and nothing running in background like a download...yes it's hot.Maybe an app in bachground wich cause an higher CPU load->heat,like Facebook app if I remember right.
63°C while browsing,nothing abnormal...
And if you check your CPU temp just after browsing...wait 1 min (or little more) before the temperature begins to decrease for have a correct/real CPU temp in "light" use.
Also if you use your phone while charging it heats, much more...
But strange your CPU temp is the same (63°C),like you said,as browsing or do nothing? If it's 63°C just watching the screen...while browsing it should be 80°C!
You said you have flash many roms/kernels,begin from scratch with a stock rom/kernel for see.If it's good try another custom rom/kernel.Makes a full wipe between each flash...
The stock temp limit before thermal throttling is 64°C (lower CPU freq to prevent "dammage") and the max before the CPU shutdown is 110°C...The extreme protection and the extreme overheating and this for those who have a kernel wich allow to modify the CPU temp limit.
Also, take a look at the links above
You want feedback:
Actually with Franciscofranco's kernel->in sleep:22°C,in light use (settings,home screen,etc...):about 40°C,while browsing in 3g:about 55°C,while benchmarking:about 75/85°C...Overclock to 1.53Ghz,no undervolt.
And for battery temp, even if I don't watch regularly it's about 30/35°C,depends of my use.
Viking,
Thanks for your reply man, this is a sort of answer I looked for all day (yes believe me I've searched the forums(they should optimize search results), I will try some other combinations.
CM9 with all kinds of kernels is pretty hot 63± degrees for me, I will check out other ROMS with kernels and will post back here.
If it is heating up while not doing anything, it is likely that you have an app that is running in the background and eating up processes. Are you using a task killer? Also if the phone ever gets to a temperature that is harmful it will shut itself off.
"Long is the way, and hard, that out of hell leads up to light."
Havent got anything really bigg running in the background, the phone doesnt get's too warm when the screen is just out, only when using it. The phone shouldn't get hot from those processes, only use a bit more battery but I dont mind that.
If it is getting up to 63c when using it there is something going on in the background.

[RESEARCH] Fix cpu cap problem on TouchWiz Rom

Hello guys,
after a lot of test and research with my friend @ktoonsez finally i want ask to all community help us to fix a problem of touchwiz rom.
This thread is also to try to understand who have this problem as me.
First of all the scenario:
- i9505
- KK touchwiz rom (not important the base, i have tried omega, wanamlite, goldeneye, pure stock)
- Stock or custom kernel, is not important since this problem happens also on completely stock rom and kernel
The problem
After heavy playing games for 5/10 minutes the performance became very very low! Game starts to lag a lot and in few minutes became not really playable! The phone is quite hot in the upper part but not really really hot! Exiting game can fix the problem but not always. Only a complete reboot can fix completely the problem!
So i have decide to investigate and i have installed app like KtMonitor (included in kt kernel) or perfmon (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933284) and i have noticed a very strange think!!!
When game start for the first time the cpu speed is max at 1890mhz
After a while the cpu goes to 1458mhz and stays at this freq for a while
After some minutes it scales down to 1242, then to 1134, then to 1026 then to 918 mhz!!!
*When 1134 mhz is reached gpu goes down to 304 mhz and when cpu is at 1026 freq the gpu is at 128/200
In this way the game is not playable anymore!
The only way to see again values upper 1242/1458 is to reboot or wait a long time (and this suggest me a thermal problem)
How reproduce the problem to see if i'm the only one or not!
Install ktmonitor or perfmon (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933284) and lauch it
Install an heavy game such as Asphalt 8 (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftA8HM) or Real racing 3 (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ea.games.r3_row) or Front line commando 3 (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.glu.flc2) or Ridge Racer Slipstream (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.namcobandaigames.ridgeracerss)
Play for some minutes one of these games and during play monitor cpu and gpu (if you are using ktmonitor)
You should notice the cpu scale!
When u report your situation please report also your:
Rom (version also)
Kernel (version also)
Kernel settings (if available)
Bootlaoder version
Particular apps installed
Particular mod flashed
Thanks to all people who want's help me and the community to make these tests and try to find and fix the problem! If we wait for sammy fix...we can die before
Thanks to all!!

Screen on time

Hello everyone, what's the most SOT you got on your sgh i747 ? I am now running official cm12.1 and the highest SOT was 3h30.
If you had more than that, please tell us how.
Cheers
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
I think this should've been posted in AT&T Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting.
Any-who, I can't even get 3 hrs of SOT but battery can easily last ~30hrs of deep-sleep/light usage. I'd love to know a fix T.T
The most I've gotten was 4 hrs SOT using the S3Rx ROM a long time ago.
Flashed the 5.1.1 OctOs-OctL M4 rom with latest regular DKP kernel and pico GApps, and got the black-out theme from playstore: Intellidemand governer and zen schedueler; read ahead set to 1024 for internal and external; westwood tcp congestion, undervolted -100mv across the board, simple GPU algorithm from faux, gpu voltage intact, underclocked to max freq 1242mhz. ~10% battery for every ~40-ish minutes of youtube. adaptive brightness; stock battery, NJ2 modem. Not too shabby, eh?

Whoa! Thanks for sharing your settings. I'm on OctOs too!
@canodroid15, have you been able to get results like this? I know you also tweak your kernel a bit on OctOs.
Some stuff I missed in the first post: GPU gov is "simple," along with faux's simple algorithm, KSM(?) Is disabled (the option where it takes less CPU, not sure if that was enable or disable) GPU clock is 480, read ahead was actually 2048 for ext and int. Screen timeout is 30 seconds, live display is set to automatic. Results: (lots of WiFi, YouTube, and general browsing/messaging. Little to no data/GPS usage, sync is off, greenify stuff)
By this day I'm able to acquire such sot on Mokee rom. It's quite fast. But unstable. Self reboots on typing and calls.
Is OctOs rly stable to be daily driver?

OctOs is good for a daily driver, but I heard that bluetooth is no good on M4. You have to update to the latest weekly of OctOS to fix that. I think the weeklies are stable in that regard. I've been playing around with the CyanogenMod With a Twist by matrixzone; using the deathly kernel. Getting really good results with that too. Some more tweaking, and I'm confident that I'll hit the 4 hrs of SOT.

Yay. I'm enjoying it right now. But I've found a bit of bug for me. I'm unable to switch network operator. It just gives me an error. I need it to use 3g cos my operator uses roaming with other one for 3g... Yay, it's Ukraine Bros.

Bug confirmed!
You might want to report that to the devs at OctOS. Anyone else got some crafty stuff for SOT? Here's what I got so far:
ROM: matrixzone's CM OS with a twist (7/21)
GApps: PA modular Pico universal
Kernel Auditor settings:
CPU:
max clock @1242mhz
Interactive gov
Multi-core power saving set to aggressive
-75Mv across the board for voltage
Disable MPDecision and enable Intelliplug with Eco Performance profile
486 max freq for screen off
I/O:
Tripndroid schedueler
int read ahead set to 2048
ext read ahead 1024, and bfq sched
Misc:
Disable KSM (optional)
Westwood tcp congestion.
As always, disable sound and vibrations on touches, adaptive brightness, Greenify with root. Oh, and chummy dev team's Black-out theme
I'm playing with dkp kernel, and such pretty stuff..
I'll attach screenshot to this post after uni. There are will be different settings than previous in this thread.
So here is result of heavy use when 50%+ of brightness when playing MMO and mostly surfing via chrome. OctOs last nightly. With last dkp. From 04.10
Min mhz 54, max 1026.
Multicore PS aggressive.
Freelunch gov.
Undervolting - 25 each freq.
GPU to 300 mhz with simple algorithm by faux.
Laziness to 1.
Ramp threshold to 8.
All other is like listed some posts before mine.
I think you can get up to 5 hrs with moderate use. I'll try tomorrow.
@SirLaughsalot, thanks for sharing your settings!
CAUTION: Excessive moisture may develope in your pants. Keep the tissues handy.
Crazy sh** coming soon. Stay tuned peeps
EDIT: Hold on to your butts people. This one's gonna take a while .
FIRST AND FOREMOST: THE RESULTS
Everything about my phone's hardware is stock, other than protective casing. Stock 2100mAh battery. It went through two full charge cycles before this, and charging was done %0 to %100 when the phone was turned off. Everything you see below is real. I sh** you not. No point in making stuff up. An important thing to note is that these settings are not keeping gamers in mind. Simple users who are willing to sacrifice 720p video streaming (videos are laggy @720p. Happens to me on every LP rom.) will find these settings useful.
1. Scenario one: Normal college day. Phone taken off charge at 7:30 am. Full brightness til ~5pm. Battery lasted well over 12 hours. Battery finally ran out because I forcefully drained it by watching a few episodes of a show via firefox. At standby, I am very confident in it lasting well over a day or two.
2. Scenario two: Non-stop screen-on the moment I took the phone off charge. Started a youtube video (all cutscenes from the game Asura's Wrath; ~5 hrs long @480p) using youtube app, volume with speakers, lowest brightness the whole time. Mt. Everest was toppled by my crotch after I saw these results.
Yep. 7 hrs of screen on time. Again, I'm not here to troll. I have better things to do (like tweaking my phone ).
Here are the long awaited settings (first system settings, then Kernel Auditor):
THE ROM/GAPPS:
ROM: Latest BrokenOS (v3.9) taken from their G+ page.
GApps: tk modular PICO universal
Flashing method: Latest TWRP, first wiped everything in advanced wipe options except for ext sd and usb-otg. Then I formatted data, and hit factory reset. After that, I rebooted the recovery via reboot options in twrp, and selected the flashing order as follows (flashing from ext SD card, btw): ROM, GApps, SuperSU. Reboot once done.
SYSTEM SETTINGS
.25x animation speed in dev options, "faster than light" animations speed in Nova launcher settings.
Sync is off, mobile data is off unless necessary; same goes for WiFi.
Applied "Pitch Black Free" layers via built-in Layers Manager.
Adaptive screen brightness, Livedisplay set to automatic, Screen time-out set to 30 seconds. Daydream is set to off. Ambient display is off.
Hardware buttons backlight set to 1 second timeout. Disabled on screen nav-bar by going into settings>broken pieces>navigation>0dp nav bar height. Disabled Broken recents menu (using stock recents menu for convenience).
Disabled NFC, Hotspot search, and Location.
Dark material keyboard found in settings>language and input>android keyboard (AOSP)>appearance and layouts
Backup and reset is off.
Vibrate on touch disabled for the keyboard.
Dial pad tones, Screen locking Sounds, Touch Sounds, Vibrate on Touch are all diabled under "other sounds" found in settings>Sound and Notification.
Adaway is installed and running
Greenify installed and running. Do NOT greenify AdAway and Pitch Black. Wakelock detector should be left alone too, if you have that installed as well
Brightness usually kept at minimum via quick settings slider bar.
Uninstalled Amaze, Browser, and Email via built in system app uninstall tool. Replaced them with inbox, firefox, and ES File explorer. This is a personal preference, and not really necessary.
Kernel Auditor Settings:
CPU:
Frequencies: 1134 max, 384 min.
Governor: darkness
leave everything else stock.
CPU Voltage

CPU Hotplug
Disable MPDecision and enable IntelliPlug if it isn't set this way already.
Conservative profile for intelliplug
Max screen off freq set to 486MHz. Leave everything else stock.
GPU
Everything stock because they revert back. If you can change it, then try "simple" governer for GPU.
Schedueler
sio for internal, bfq for ext.
Read-ahead: 1024kb for bot int and ext.
Kernel Samperage Merging
disable KSM (you choice on this one)
Misc Controls
optional: 100% vibration
Dynamic FSync enabled
TCP Congestion: Westwood

LG G3 severe overheating makes phone semi-unusable.

Hello all,
I have installed Fulmics Rom 5.3 with latest xceed beta kernel in my D855 (32GB edition).
My problem is that it overheats like crazy.
I started checking the temp readings inside the Synapse app and it goes like this:
Idle temperature:55 degrees Celsius,
Normal web browsing:65 degrees Celsius,
Demanding web browsing,1080p+ video quality watching, playing games:80 degrees Celsius,
at which point it crashes either by rebooting the UI or in some cases, by rebooting the phone when it reaches 85+ I think.
Needless to say,it lags annoyingly much,it freezes a lot and it crashes in the middle of videos or game playing (so I can't play at all most of the time).
The culprit must be external temperature. The past few days we have temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius here
and the thermometer in my room shows right now 33 degrees Celsius.
I have removed the protective case because then my phone was completely useless.
Do you guys have any idea or tip on how i can mitigate these effects?

There are a couple popular mods available for overheat. One is with software tweaks and the other is a hardware mod.
CTT(software mod) mod... http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-...-marshmallow-testers-g3-t3313870#post65295829

If the phone shutdown due to high temperatures you can try ctt mod. The link is in the above post.
I've faced extreme temperatures when shooting video on uhd but not while taking any photos. Are you sure it's because if temperature or a bug on the rom?

Fulmics is an android 6 rom.I think xceed implements a custom ctt mod and I do have used it before independently of a custom kernel. It went pretty smooth until it hit high temperatures and the phone completely shut down.Every time.
I may try the hardware mod, although I am sceptical about the warranty. The software I can bring it back to stock.I have some Arctic Silver 5 laying around.Should I use this or a pad?

If you think you will need to send it in at some point I would say use the pad instead of the paste for ease of removal. If there is paste all over the place they may invalidate your warranty. I used some paste and it worked fine...but I have no warranty to worry about.
But you may want to try a different kernel or run your ROM with the "stock" kernel included in Fulmics for a little while to make sure you don't have some weird conflict causing your issue. Other posters mentioned xposed or the kernel could be the issue, so it could just be your setup messing with you.

Do you think I should remove it even though I will lose its benefits?

Xposed is the culprit here. When I had this problem I went back to stock kernel instead of removing xposed. With stock kernel it works perfect.

Hit thanks if I helped you

Then I shall reflush Fulmics Rom with cache and dalvik/art cache wipe and delete xposed app...lets see if that helps!

I will try without xposed and xceed and see what happens.
Big thanks to you both!!!
Some days after this, the phone runs a lot smoother. It does not freeze a lot and does not restart itself or the UI.
When I am inside my house it performs like a G3 should perform.Outside...that is another issue. The CPU temp reads 85 degrees celsius most of the time, but that is typical here. Most of the people experience it under the unforgiving sun of my country.
Thanks for the tips! Will try the hardware one after a while to see if I can get it cooler.

It's still abnormal.
I may understand high temperature like 70-75 °C, but higher one is indication of some buggy process.
According to my experience, using Kernel Adiutor (regardless the kernel is stock or custom) will get you in battery draining, due to overloading and the preventing of Deep Sleep status.
If you've modded kernel, try to undo all changes.

After your tips,I uninstalled every app that needed the xposed kernel and uninstalled the xposed kernel itself.
Then I rebooted into recovery and wiped cache and dalvik/art.I installed Fulmics Rom 5.1, 5.1 to 5.2 update, 5.2 to 5.3 update and rebooted.
Neither any app that modifies anything in the system, nor any mod was installed.
Could I give any screenshot or info of processes, apps etc so you can advise me better?

Yes,
install Simple System Monitor and send the shown CPU Frequency States;
Then go in "Settings > Battery" and send another screenshot

EDIT:Sorry for the language...at one point it showed that Spotify consumed a lot of battery, but the music was being streamed by my tablet not my phone.

The SystemUI consumption is abnormal.
It should be no more than 5%.
Then I can't see the Deep Sleep status, that's problematic too.
What kind of apps are you using?
****ty software like Clean Master, mods, custom kernel, some Xposed module... tell me.

Well I will just show you all of them
No mods except what Fulmics offered in Aroma, which I installed all except the CTT mod.No custom kernel or xposed framework installed.
I had the same overheating issues without xposed, I used the hardware mod and it worked perfectly. Once I connected the cpu with the frame the idle temp dropped ~15 to 20 degrees, and I have no probs running any app with a custom kernel and overclocked cpu.

Oneplus 3 - PubG Lags!

I've a OnePlus 3 Device.. When I Play Pubg in Med Settings.. it Lags like hell and i turned to Low Preset Still The same any solutions???
There was same problem with me too...
1. Make sure upgrade to v0.4.0.
2. If problem still continues use Elementalx kernel and overclock cpus and also turn on GPU boost to high.
Though regardless to say play on Europe server?
I play with framerate set to HIGH and BALANCED and it runs smooth most of the time.....

Will Try :good:
i'm on latest OOS beta with Derp kernel, no lag what so ever on PUBG , just played it for the 1st time last night, on HD and medium fps (and one mission on high), no lags what so evert, but here's heating normal and expected with this type of games, but didn't effect the game play.
it'll hit the battery though , i went from 92% to 20% in 70 mins of continues playing on high settings. also make sure if you're on OOS to add it to game do not disturb mode, it helps.
i do have same problem on open beta, ill try to flash costum kernel...hope they fix this on next update...

Sorry to say but it will lag in anyway
Coz it is powered by Snapdragon 820 which just sucks in gaming , not becoz of GPU (Andreno 530 is good enough) but becoz of low cores count and thermel throttle ?
And PUBG mostly depends on multicore performance of the processor, in which sd820 littrely sucks (820=450 in multicore performance)
Snapdragon 660 is much better choice for gaming it's much stable than 820/821
Someone said to me to use GFX Tool on play store and enable the vulkan and see the changes. He said it was lagging but after enable the vulkan it turns out pretty smooth after but pretty much drains the battery.

I second this, used GFX Tool with the following parameters:
PUBG M Version 0.6
Resolution: 1280x720
Style: Classic
Graphics : Balanced
FPS: 60fps
Vulkan : Enabled
Anti-Aliasing: Disabled
Running On DU v12.3
Kernel DU stock
Active battery drain after 33mins of use 9% and lags at all.

I dont know, it was smooth here currently on Nougat Zenity RR. But I do also face the lag when I'm using Unofficial RR Luis and I even overclocked the cpu, but it was smooth on OOS with stock kernel and MSM Xtended so far before. That recommendation to enable vulkan was from someone I haven't test it yet since I dont face the lag right now. Sorry can't help much, I also did not understand much why.

Not true , as mentioned on another post above, I also use the latest oos beta ROM, with derp kernel 4.4 , nonlags what so ever , not even a little ...
I've been playing pubg for a month now , and with the above setup I had no lags... I even use maple I/O sched , which by nature may cause some lag and despite that it doesn't.
onePlus stock kernel specially on beta may have issues from time to time, and a lot of cutom kernels for cutom ROMs are configured more toward battery life...
For stock rom use either derp or blu_spark, they will work out of the box without issues, Blu have more heating though on my experience.
For custom ROMs you'll need to ask the kernel dev what settings anss scheds to use ...I'd imagine flash kernel will be ok right out of the box but will not be as battery friendly as the others .
No
Well if you are happy with 20-35fps performance, than trust me you don't really need a flagship, you will be satisfied even with Snapdragon 450 which can give similar performance to sd820 in PUBG lol [QUOTEuke7;76899133]Not true , as mentioned on another post above, I also use the latest oos beta ROM, with derp kernel 4.4 , nonlags what so ever , not even a little ...

Guys if you want to game dont do it on a mobile device. Let alone a cheap China device with high failure rates on hardware.
Could anyone suggest a ROM / Kernel that is tried and tested to not lag on OnePlus 3T? I am currently using a different phone just to play the game and I really wish to move back to my phone ... Any method that is tried and tested to function properly with no lags on the current PubG update would be really appreciated

You will be hard pressed to find a combo that works. You will most likely need to build a rom made for it as most roms are not made for gaming which to be honest is a sad state on mobile device.

Try msm extended pie and aosp extended pie both with stock kernel runs pubg smooth with hd - high fps
Well i'm baffled with you guys, i ran it just fine, i even downclocked it to 1 & 1,5 Ghz (lil&big). My configs: Omnirom and the included kernel (holydragon) downclocked, display driver updated to V313 (look for adreno driver in mi mix forum) use rev15 as it is less glitchy and even has tangible score boost almost 6000 gain in antutu GPU section. And that's it, HD and High setting acquired, i even get extreme setting when i first install the driver, but somehow it disappears lol. If you want to run it even better, use old gfxtool to old pubg apk, run and then update the pubg, immediately uninstall the gfxtool to avoid ban by the new pubg detection for gfxtool. Sorry too long.
