I've just purchased my OUYA and similar to my raspberry pi running raspbmc I get no sound over the HDMI out the box. With my raspberry pi I had to add hdmi_drive=2 to the config and then I got sound over HDMI. This I'm guessing is due to my tv requiring a specific mode being enabled or different HDMI driver, to be honest I'm not sure.
Does anyone know if there is a similar setting I can change somewhere on an OUYA box? I'm desperate to get things working and don't want to have to take the box back.
Any help would be much appreciated. I'm sure this will also solve a number of the HDMI sound issues with OUYA dotted over the web.

I've still got the same problem. I do believe it's similar to what I experience on then Raspberry Pi.
I contacted ouya and they didn't come up with a fix either. If you find a fix before I do please let me know.

Its the HDMI
Im dealing with the same issue. Im running through an HDMI splitter now and it seems to be okay BUT previously I would have to pull and plug my HDMI like 5 times when Id boot the OUYA to get sound out. It seems to be fine lately.
Try different cable, different ports on the TV and boot the ouya and just pull and plug a few times live and see if it works.
I have the FireTV box. I installed the wireless remote app for my android and it worked ok. Then I realized the remote itself isn't working at all. I tried unplugging the cord and rebooting. Nothing.
Any suggestions?
Fresh batteries. The remote is a battery hog. Sometimes the screen will tell yo when the batteries are low, but several times I have had to switch batteries without being warned of low batteries.
you didn;t happen to turn off bluetooth by accident, did you?
I have the same problem. I have replaced the batteries but still no bueno. The remote status is battery offline. Reboot the Box, still no dice. Where can I check to see that the bluetooth is still enabled?

Maybe you need to re-pair the remote. Just a guess. Anyway, see this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201452760.
Yeah, I tried that. No dice. I contacted Amazon and they are sending me a replacement remote. Apparently this problem is becoming common and a replacement remote fixes it.
Have you tried pairing another bluetooth device like a keyboard, mouse, headphones, gamepads or speakers to ensure your bluetooth controller on the Amazon device hasn't died?
Sent from a Freedompop HTC Evo 4G
I contacted Amazon and they sent me a replacement remote, next day. It works perfectly. I guess the remotes just die sometimes.

Can you let us know what the issue was and how you fixed your remote? It could be helpful to myself and others who may run into a non working Fire TV remote.
i had same issue, i had to get another remote

I was trying to pair a ps4 controller with the sixaxis app. That's exactly when the remote stopped working. I'm assuming it was because the app was messing with the systems bluetooth connection. Luckily I had another remote already setup (a Rii Mini 2.4GHz Wireless Touchpad Keyboard.) I went back into the sixaxis app, clicked on STOP, and exited the program. I then went into the settings.apk (not the one that came with the system) went into BLUETOOTH, and unpaired the Amazon Fire TV Remote. Then I repaired the Amazon Fire Tv Remote through BLUETOOTH in settings. The remote still didn't work, but I was now able to go into the stock settings app that came with the system, click on CONTROLLERS then Amazon Fire TV Remotes, Add New Remote, and hold down the Home button on the remote for about 5 seconds, and it showed up in the list of Discovered Remotes. Once I clicked on the remote, it started working.
Now I may or may not have added extra, unnecessary steps, but that's exactly what I did to get it working again.
Oh and I highly recommend the Rii Mini Wireless Touchpad Keyboard. It's small, has a full keyboard & touchpad that is perfect for using as a mouse pointer. It also comes with a wireless dongle. I only wish I could map a HOME button press to one of the keys on it. Oh and it was plug and play! I connected the dongle, turned on the remote, and worked right away. No pairing was needed.
**I take back the recommendation for the Rii Mini Wireless Touchpad Keyboard. Now it's sporadically acting like I'm holding down buttons and it's really quite annoying. For example, I would type out TEST, and when I would get to the 'E', it'll input 'EEEEEEEEE' until I press another button. I have a clear line of sight to the dongle, and it's two feet away. After scouring the internets, I read some good reviews about the FAVI Wireless Keyboard, and ordered it. ($35.57)
Help! I lost the remote for my fire stick, so I downloaded the remote app on my iPhone. It worked great for a day, then couldn't find the fire tv stick at all. I tried everything to fix it, restarting my phone, unplugging the fire stick, restarting wifi, deleting and renown loading the app, and nothing worked. I tried using some different remote apps, and none of them picked up the fire stick, so I'm assuming it's a problem with the fire stick itself. If the Bluetooth on the fire stick stopped working, how do I fix it? A friend bought this for me and set it all up so I don't have a clue how to work it without the remote, please help!
I have similar problems with the Amazon Fire TV and Fire Stick remotes. There is a known issue that other Bluetooth-enabled devices within range of the Amazon hardware can disrupt the connection with the remote (like a laptop, tablet, etc.). I learned this directly from Amazon Tech Service. They also sent me a second remote which still has the same problem.
I keep a Logitech Unifying dongle plugged into the USB port on the Fire TV and use a mini-keyboard remote or a wireless full-size keyboard made for Google TV, which works all the time even when the Amazon remotes stop working. Unfortunately, this "fix" won't work with the FireStick since there is no USB port.
I have a Logitech Revue, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Fire Stick and a Roku3 box. The Roku3 is the only one that has no real issues, always works and the best features. Other than that, my Vizio M-series TV has Yahoo! Smart TV and is sufficient for most streaming without a box.
Wukong romote app should work since it works over wifi. You probably need to just toggle bluetooth off and on.

Seems to be a very common problem. I had this problem with my first-gen FTV as well. Customer service didn't even bother asking any questions and had it replaced promptly. Hopefully it doesn't happen with my FTV2 remote.
I fixiti removing the remote from the bluetooth devices and leting the firetv connect again. So far 2 month and no issues

When I spoke with the Amazon CSR, he had me do the following
1) Remove the batteries from the remote
2) Hold the middle circle button AND the home button at the same time (keep holding for the next steps)
3) Disconnect HDMI and power cable from Fire TV
4) wait 30 seconds
5) Reconnect HDMI and Power Cable
6) Let go of remote buttons, re-insert batteries into remote
7) voila, remote worked again.
These steps basically reset the bluetooth settings on the Fire TV. After troubleshooting, I think the issue may be because of bluetooth interference from my Amazon Echo, cell phone and laptop that are all connected in the same room. Hope this helps! :highfive:
Is the FireTV remote the same as the FireTV Stick remote? I've ordered a new TV box to replace my stick and want to reuse the old remote. I'm not bothered about the voice features.
Good third party remote for android tv and amazon fire tv, and I find the mouse can be use in this app called CetusPlay, you can find it on google play store
and there is another on called wukong tv remote, but know it seems not working in the mouse.
I have Sony KDR60R550A and i accidentally figured out that I can use my TV remote play, pause and navigation buttons to actually navigate Amazon Fire TV. It works with any app inside Fire tv.
Sorry if this is known tip.
i think it's not the remote that will work solo,
it's cause your hdtv uses cec.
also my samsung tv remote can be used, also the touchmouse (not synced with ftv but with samaung tv) just google for cec ^-^

Yeah, is a bummer my Lg42LB5600 doesn't support CEC, at least the remote doesn't do nothing to the fire stick.
But it worked on my Samsung and my older 32 toshiba.
I'm thinking of getting one of this down the road and install it on the LG tv.

Anything to help reduce the number of remotes I guess.

That auction for the HDMI break-out box is to separate out the Audio Return Channel from the HDMI cable. It may pass CEC commands, but it doesn't seem to be a CEC injector.

I don't think it will work in my scenario because everything is routed through the bose lifestyle which cuts out all CEC related items. I'll test it out tonight though. Thanks for the tip.
My remote also works with cec but when I am in kodi how to go back to the home fire TV without quiting kodi or how to simulate the home button of the original remote?

I'm happy to report that my sony remote too works even when it goes through the bose lifestyle. Here are my observances.
1. No Additional features can be used such as the number pad of the Sony Remote.
2. The range is limited to Infrared and the remote must be pointed to the TV vs. the firetv remote which has a great range.
Hi,
I got a problem with my FireTV Stick. I want to use my Harmony IR remote and read that the FireTV Stick supports basic CEC. Currently, I use the CEC feature of my Samsung TV
for controlling my PS3, so CEC is working in general.
Not for the FireTV Stick. The stick is recogniced by my TV and Onkyo receiver by name, but I can not control anything.
My current firmware is "54.1.2.3_user_12306702". I used the ADB shell to check for the settings for CEC, but the config "/sys/devices/virtual/graphics/fb0/cec" does not exist.
The cec daemon can be found under "/system/bin/cecdaemon" but it is not running. Simply starting it does not help. Do I need root for that?
The support told me that CEC is currently broken, but there are useres out there where CEC is working with that FW. I already tried a reset, but no change.
I was hoping to replace the FireTV remote completely by implementing some missing features in FireStarter (I'm a Java developer but no Android expert)
github.com/sphinx02/FireStarter/issues/11
I hope someone can help me.

Just pay ~$22 or whatever for FLIRC at Amazon, it's an IR receiver that allows you to use any remote with the Fire Tv. You may need a USB extension cable also to make the dongle face forward.
Its rather difficult to add an USB device to the stick. I was a little confused that my newly bought stick is still on FireOS3. I thought that "54.1.2.3_user_12306702" indicated 5something
Amazon is rolling out the new 5.0.5 update to all sticks and I will report back if it solved the problem.
I don't think you can have a USB device on the stick as its powered by the micro USB port.
When I had my fire stick plugged in CEC worked fine on both fireOS 3 and 5 preview version. Having moved on to the firetv2 I have less CEC functionality (wont wake from sleep but everything else worked).
Hi my local cable company has a pretty sweet app and it works on a firestick with no issues. However, I upgraded to a Fire TV in hopes it would be faster. So far it is, However, my cable app is not working because it detects HDMI output. How or why it didn't on the firestick IDK but can anyone guide me on how to fix this or if I send you the APK is someone willing to look at it and fix it for me or guide me how to? I'm willing to learn I just can't seem to figure it out.
I suspect it has to do with the Fire TV HDMI CEC detection. I would suggest you try turning it off.

Thanks for the tip and I tried it out but it's app specific. Click to view channels and it says external display not supported. Which makes no sense to me since a firestick runs the same app without issue.
