Dear Community
I have problem with my HTC one M8 from Vodafone. One day it just get stuck at bootscreen (HTC ONE). I rebooted my phone with power button and volume plus/minus. Then I used HBOOT to factory reset the phone. It worked. My phone starts normal and I set basic settings. After reboot I get another bootloop/stuck at boot screen.
The phone has LOCKED BootLoader and is S-ON.
Software status: Official
HBOOT 3.19
firmware: 4.19.161.2
Do you have any kind of warranty ? As you have never touched the phone as in modified it ?

Only things that might break your warranty, so i won't advise to do so. If your warranty effort fails then we can take a step further here.

Why won't they? If you've not tampered with the software and it's a hardware fault they're obliged to repair/replace it under the terms of the Warranty. Or get in touch with Vodafone as it's running their software so they should also be able to help

Just contact HTC and tell them to ship you another phone.
but you do have SUPER CID...so lucky in some ways.
and since u do get signals sometime, maybe its a radio issue, try flashing a rom and radio. Should be easy since ur bootloader is unlocked already.
Just flash cwm recovery, the boot.img of a rom, and the rom itself. I recommend VIPERX.

Hi guys,
After rooting my phone and installing some roms, my phone has decided to randomly stop working sometimes.
I received my phone in July so I still have warranty, but I can only send it back if HTC think I have not tampered with my phone.
I have looked at a thread on how to return to stock and RELOCK hboot, however HTC will be able to see this, and I would like to know if it is possible to relock hboot but just make it say LOCKED, as a new phone?
You can't without S-OFF, and S-OFF is impossible at the moment.

all you can do is relock the bootloader, and pray for the best. if your sending your phone in for anything apart from motherboard issues you will be fine.

Ok thanks
But the problem is that the screen won't always turn on, which I think could be related to software or hardware. Just after wiping and flashing a new rom, everything works perfectly, but then a day later, screen problems appear. Do you know what this is caused by?
my phone's friend is the same. i think you must send to HTC to repair .
Htc One **TAMPERED**
I was just wondering, I have the HTC ONE/ M7 and I was trying to root it but was never successful. I unlocked it with the HTCDev website and installed GOO on my phone but thats about as far as I got. Now my phone shows **TAMPERED** and **UNLOCKED** in the HBOOT menu, I was just curious as to how I would get those to go away.
THANKS!
This is the one x forum... Go to the m7 forum...
You can not change that status if you have a s-on M7...

Hi guys!
My OneX has an hardware fault, the WiFi antenna doesn't work properly, so I need to send it back to the repair centre, but I've got some questions first:
- I've got the Nandroid Backup of the stock ROM and the stock recovery, so I can get everything back to stock. After the flash, the bootloader will say "re-locked" instead of "locked", right?
- If I send the phone with everything stock, but the bootloader is "re-locked", will be the warranty voided? I think no, just because this fault came from the HTC directly, it's not a damage from something I did wrong or from the rooted ROMs...
What do you think about this guys? Help me, I'm really frustrated of this kind of fault...
There is a big chance that (99%) they will not fix.
Unfortunately it is voided. I know what are you thinking but it is...
You will have to pay to fix it.
And yes, it will show re-locked and they will charge you for the phone transportation and work done in it (?).
But....... you can always try to fix yourself (cheaper) that sending it to HTC.
I will try when(if) mine starts showing off this.
Since its a hardware fault.. there is a possibility they may fix this.
But if it's their fault, why do I have to pay for someone's fault?

I've just restored my One X to stock, even with the recovery. When I turned on my phone, it asked me to upgrade the fw to the 4.0.1 and the Sense to 4.0. I did it. After the reboot, I thougt: "And now my bootloader will be locked, right?" So, I went into the bootloader, but it was Locked again... So, I relocked it with "fastboot oem lock". And now it's relocked...
Now, my question is: If I re-restore my stock backup now, and I'll re-do the official update to 4.0.1, will be the bootloader locked, or it'll be always "relocked"?
Please, aswer me, this hardware fault makes me mad! =.=
If it's an hardware problem they'll fix it,if it's software I would count on getting it fixed for free.
Anyway, unlocked bootloaders and warranty loss are only related in software issues.

So I can send the phone even with the relocked bootloader? The problem is the following: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688538 , so it's a production fault, it's not a software problem...
Another question... When the RUU will be released, I'll use it for updating the phone, will the bootloader be "Locked" or "Relocked"?

You need to relock it to install RUU, after relock, it will say RELOCKED.
You might be better off taking it to your retailer and relying on consumer protection laws rather than HTC warranty.

Yes, I know that... But the question was another... I've already relocked the bootloader, it's now RELOCKED, but when I'll install a JB RUU, or the JB OTA, will the bootloader be LOCKED or RELOCKED?
RELOCKED

After having a lot of problems with crashing apps (possibly due to corrupt storage hardware) I did one last attempt to fix it before trying to claim warranty. I installed RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.31_R_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed.exe. It failed, but somehow magically locked my bootloader again. It is now locked, not relocked. I'm stuck with a phone that will only boot to bootloader, and it won't unlock again even though I do get the unlock screen where you have to choose yes or no. It will always stay locked, so I guess this is a brick? Anything I can do but claim warranty?
Without an unlocked bootloader you can't do anything except performing a factory reset from the bootloader.
Was the ruu even ment for you ? Does it match the outcome of
Fastboot getvar version-main

Yes it is, I've used the same RUU a week prior. Factory reset does nothing now, so I can only claim warranty at this point? I guess I will have to buy a new phone, since Dynafix (repair center) always claims "water damage" no matter what. I will still give it a try though.
Yep when the bootloader is locked and you can't get it unlocked , the ruu is your only chance.
Otherwise its warranty.....so its a company who makes money with stating all phones have water damage ?!

Basically yes. Not 100%, but a lot. They have been called out on a tv show, but they aren't showing much progression. Anyway, I was on hboot 1.31 and the RUU updated it to 1.39. I think that's why it doesn't work anymore now.
Well if the ruu did run succesfully it should boot fine. Must be a hardware failure/brick somehow

I mean the RUU updated my hboot about a week ago. This time it didn't run successfully. It is also very strange that my bootloader is locked again, instead of relocked.
Yep, what some people reported in the past is that they did all this on a completely different pc.....try it. No harm can be done anymore

Unfortunately I still get bootloader version error. Thanks for your help.
Then its off for repair
Even i had a similar problem with regular crashing apps. and by regular i mean EVERY SINGLE app i opened FCd. Then the com.google.something fcd and phone would restart. Even get stuck in APX mode occasioanlly, and it all happened after i upgraded my HBOOT 1.39. Anyhow i managed to wipe my phone, install stock ROM, and relock my bootloader. Never got the "LOCKED" thing though, only "RELOCKED". Thats what i was worried that i might not get warranty. But fortunately/unfortanately, the HOX went into APX mode again, never to get out, so i gave it for repair, and turns out the service center could NOT get the phone to turn on and found the motherboard was screwed. I found another couple of users on the HOX forums whose phones got bricked and APXed after HBOOT upgrade.
ANYHOW, Service Center gave me a refurbished phone (after a month -_- ) So all good for now. My advice is Service Center.

Thanks for your comment. I'm awaiting a reply from the service center for pick up, but they are slow.
Ok so I have installed arhd and want to revert back to stock for warranty service
I made a Nandroid backup before unlocking the bootloader
Please guide me through the process
specs:-
cid-11111111
hboot-1.36
s-off
U can't get completely to stock. You have to install your main version RUU after locking the bootloader, but u will face the problem where the bootloader says 'relocked' instead of 'locked'

So will I be able to get warranty service or not
I don't think so dude.

Can anyone else confirm this fact?
You can easily return to stock and run any ruu because you have s-off
with s-off you can also LOCK the bootloader instead of relocked, so lock it and send it for warranty
Depends on what is the problem with Your HOX. If they need to replace Your motherboard then You gonna pay for it. HTC official policy... I'm from Poland and I sent it for repair 3 times. Everytime they needed to replace motherboard. And they did it two times even with relocked bootloader (don't know why, maybe they always repair phones with broken autorotation? common issue with hox. coz it was the case with first and second repair). 3rd time I got problem with screen backlight and bang - ~$300 . I tried contacting with HTC Poland and HTC Taiwan but same answer. If bootloader was unlocked and motherboard needs to be replaced You need to pay for it. Any other issue with any other part and they fix it for free. So hard to tell really. You may be lucky What is Your issue with HOX? You may also consider burning down the motherboard... They will not be able to tell if You had bootloader unlocked... But it's kinda cheating... I just read somewhere that some dude did it and they replaced his motherboard for free

Can you explain how to lock bootloader
I have a nandroid backup can I use that for restoring my phone
Please explain
Thanks for everyone that helped really appreciate all replies
And I just realized that putting "urgent" in my title of the thread does not mean that my question is more important than others
Any help will be appreciated
An s-off hox also can show relocked only.
