Root your Gio With Gingerbread 2.3.3:
1. Download: Update.zip
2. Copy ZIP file to your SD-card
3. Turn off your phone
4. Now, you will have to switch ON your device in the recovery Mode which can be done by holding the Middle button and then Power ON the device by pressing the Power ON button.
5. In recovery mode, you will see the option called update from SD Card, select this option and then you will see that the list of files will come from which you will have to select the file which is named as Update.zip
6. Wait a few seconds (MAX 5 minutes!)
7. Your phone is rooted
Thanks for the info!

Delete and recopy the Update.zip file to SD card. If still failed, just format the SD card and do as guided. It will work definitely.

Superuser installed but doesn't work.Always reset my phone.Sorry for my English.
On the sticky thread there is a link for cwm thread, however I'm not quite sure which filesystem to choose, I'm going to install through recovery, seems safer for me. I want to install cwm for 2 purposes, first I'm planning to backup my stock rom so that I can always flash it back if I need my warranty and second I'm planning to flash cm9 to my phone. I'm not quite sure what is the diffrence between rfs and ext4 is Currently I'm on 2.2.1 stock rom.
Actually I found the proper version of CWM to install here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414173
But I can't apply it, when I enter recovery mode the options I have are:
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe chace parition
Pheraps I should rename the zip file I downloaded to update.zip? I can't select any other zip from the sd card and if I press "apply sdcard:update.zip" it searches for update.zip and fails to find it.

-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted.
Because the name of the zip is just not update.zip.
1.first copy the zip to the root of sdcard
rename the zip to update.zip and install as instructed

First you have to root and format to ext4, before installing CWM.
Download mode, remove battery, insert battery, press power, home, volume down, at the same time.

did you wipe & flash the kernel via fastboot if not do it and you are done
If you did wipe & flashed the boot.img try reflashing by using the following steps
1) Boot your device in recovery mode. You should now see the recovery menu
2) Use the volume up/down keys to select "apply update from ADB," then press power to select it
3) open the folder where your boot.img and adb are storred, then press SHIFT button and the right-click mouse button and choose “Open command prompt here”
typ adb sideload <filename>.zip (for example: adb sideload update.zip)
The zip package will begin installing. When it's done, select "reboot system now."

I am having a problem with my Kindle Fire and am hoping for some guidance. My fire was running fine . it was rooted and had fff installed. I am using TWRP and a custom ROM. This is what I have:
Android: 4.2.2
CyanogenMOD version: 10.1-20130215-1442-otter-sgt7
Build number: cm_otter-userdebug 4.2.2 JDQ39
TWRP: 2.8.3.0
When booting it says: v1.4a. And press the power button for boot menu. I can go into recovery now, BUT.... If I go to flash a zip file nothing is listed. I have put many .zip files in /sdcard folder, but they are all missing from view in TWRP??
No matter were I put a .zip file I cannot find it in TWRP.
TWRP puts me into /sdcard but there are no files listed now. It must be in some other partition ?? Idk ?? Also when I am booted into the OS it is saying I don't have root but if I run root checker, it says I do.
Bottom line is I want to flash a new ROM but I can not find the zip file of the new ROM while in TWRP. It is also saying I am out of space but I know I am not.
What should I do ? It seems the partitions are may be messed up ? Again idk..... Please help !!!
Need more info??
Hi,
In still having this problem. Does anyone have any thoughts on what I could try ? I don't know much but it seems like it is reading off the wrong partition maybe ? I mean I put the .zips in the folder /sdcard but when I am in twrp the files are not there. Please help me ?

Hello everybody,
Here my problem :
I tried to install a custom rom, I failed. Now, my smartphone stay on the Asus logo screen. I tried to follow this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/guide-to-apply-ota-bootloop-rooted-zf2-t3127835 - to fix the problem, but when I connect phone and laptop, adb doesn't find the device.
If I continue and go in recovery mode (using TWRP), laptop can access the phone (I can see internal memory but not external).
And if I try the ADB sideload, there is no device again...
It's the first step, I don't see any other way to unbrick the phone...
Thanks in advance
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/guide-brick-soft-hard-bricked-zenfone-2-t3284256 be lucky your phone is recognized
Hello,
Frist, thank you for your answer. I had already tried this way but nothing. Finally, I fixed the problems (detect phone and unbrick phone).
1-In TWRP, I loaded recovery.img, boot.img and droidboot.img. Reboot in recovery mod, but I had the dead droid... so I pushed on power and volume up till I have a new screen.
2-In this part, I did a Wipe/Factory reset (useless I think), reboot in recovery mode (still dead droid). This time I selected the line "update with adb" (with an ASUS firmware). Then I had a message who told me update adb sideload. I did it and it installed the firmware. The smartphone reboot correctly.
Now, I have the same problem I had yesterday. In TWRP, my external storage isn't detected...
you use stock recovery or custom recovery, if you use stock recovery external-storage won't detected
Hello,
Thank you Bar4, I explained above how I fixed my problems. Now I'm searching a way to make TWRP (TWRP 3.0) detect my external storage to install Cyanogenmod 13.0. If it's really not possible, I would try with CWM (I have seen it in your screen).
Edit : I guess custom, TWRP. It's why I don't understand why it doesn't allow me to mount SD card or doesn't detect this same SD Card.

i use twrp 3.0 too, but external sd detected. no need to put on external storage, you can flash Cm 13 through internal storage
if you want to install custom rom it's better if you make a backup first, so if happen you failed when installing new rom or maybe you don't like it (new rom) you can go back to stock rom through TWRP restore
Ok, failed again...
Try a different rom or redownload the rom it might have been a bad download.
The error message says there is no updater script in the zip meaning it can't install anything as the updater script tells what directories to install the files if I seen it correctly that is.

maybe the CM 13 zip file you have download corrupted, try to re-download and re-flash it again. if still failed try another rom
( i'm using AICP Rom "based on CM 13 too") try it, it's awesome Rom ---> do clean install wipe all except internal storage and external storage

Hi,
Sorry for this late answer. As I failed to install those roms (CM13, Bliss), I'm going to stop here and wait for the Marsmallow update. But I'm happy my phone isn't brik anymore.
Thank you all.
