CyanogenMod 12 is the first that comes to my mind, but it's not stable. I don't have any other ideas right now. If you had S-OFF you could convert it to a Google Play Edition device.

S-on has nothing to do with a custom rom....please read and read until you are acquainted with the terms and needs of a custom rom.
and there is no best rom out there. There is a best rom for you but only you can decide which is the best for yourself. We all seek different setups and preferences in a rom.
Happy hunting

If the question is put as 'which is easier to install', then what would the answer? CM?

all of them is easier if you can read the instructions

All roms are pretty much installed the same way.
Make a full wipe (so you don't mingle up 2 different roms)
Install the rom zip
Reboot

ViperOneM8. But I might be biased.
But it does allow for the most customization from any Sense based ROM. Check it out.

Be careful with the volume if you install CM. Don't use it at max, protect your speakers.

[Q]Roms

So, since AlphaRev is comming soon(-ish) I would like to get some information about roms. Or some suggestions.
I'm looking for a non-sense rom, that is fast (preferably Gingerbread).
Also; If I install CM7 (GB) will I have to install any custom kernels for overclocking?
Thank you for your help :]
No, CM7 comes with a kernel that supports overclocking by default.
ROM List here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
Thanks for that info.
Concerning your list, I'm looking for some input from other users
Can't really help you there, because the only AOSP (Non - Sense) ROM I have used till date is CM7, both stable and nightlies. Personally, I am very satisfied with it, and would whole heartedly recommend it, but, ROM choice is a personal thing.

What is the main advantage of nightlies over the stable one?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA Premium App
Nightlies integrate many changes, developed over time. They are kind of "unofficial / beta builds", so there's no official support for bugs on those. Thus, nightlies may give new features, but may also have the potential for introducing new bugs.
One example: The nightlies use Android 2.3.4 since quite a while back, but all stable versions are still on 2.3.3. The next stable version will obviously incorporate 2.3.4
Thank you
Guess I'll go for the stable cm7 once AlphaRevX comes.

Well not really. Because they have different homescreens and looks like different splash screens too. Not sure about by Smarberg, can't see any screenshots. Now ARHD is "closer to stock" because when you first you use it everything is the same as a stock ROM (eg homescreens, widgets etc.).

You'd have to specify what you want from stock and what you don't for anyone to answer that.

Leedroid is good, i'm using it rght now!
You have some good little tweaks also as the Leedroid Tweaks is included with the ROM.

But I think the OP means by "closer to stock" is that no visual changes like the ARHD ROMs. Well that's my interpretation of "closer to stock".

Once chefs starts changing honescreens and splash screens I consider that as getting further away from being "closer to stock" IMO.

[Q] Flashing different kernels

I just came over from a HTC incredible s and I have to say this phone is amazing. The hardware is beautiful and I love the screen! The only thing is the lag that is noticable, not to mention the fluctuating battery life
So I'm thinking of unlocking the bootloader and rooting to get some of the sweet custom rom goodness onto my phone. But I was just wondering how the kernels and roms work. I.e. how can I find out which kernel posted in the development section is compatible with which rom? And if I want to put a custom kernel onto a different custom rom how do I go about doing that??
Cheers all
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Just read the manuals. I always use the standard kernel that comes with the ROM.
When rooting, beware to execute every step otherwise your phone will be bricked.
You could just start off by trying a custom ROM to rid the lag. If you still want a custom kernel just read the threads and it'll say what its compatible with usually. Hope this helps, man. Btw, congrats on getting the Hox!

Please avoid using the term bricked. If you don't follow the steps then the ROM will not boot but that is far from being bricked.
The only sure fire way to end up bricked is by simulate battery pull wile updating Hboot with an ruu.

So the kernel dev will say what roms it is compatible with? I had a look at some and they didn't seem to be explicit as to which roms they're compatible with.
And can I clarify that the kernel is in the boot.img? So to flash kernel just fastboot flash boot xxxx.img?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Well for example- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647993 This kernel states its for rooted stock and custom ROMs. This kernel- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800603 is for AOSP ROMs for the time being. Those are just two examples but just read through and it'll state what kernels are for what. For installation just read the flashing instructions and all will be good, hope I helped!

ViperX is definitely a great choice if you want Sense.
For AOSP side, I can recommend CM10.1 and IceColdJelly.

i do like sense, and i saw the review about viperx and i really liked it.
only two questions, right now im using the app "anysoftkeyboard" because i couldnt use sense keyboard with my language (hebrew), i remember people told me that if i would use a rom i will be able to use sense keyboard with my language, is it true?
and is this the latest topic of the rom? : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745176
i just saw it in "original android developments" forum and im still new here so idk the difference between the 2 developments forums XD
tnx in advance
edit:
forgot to ask, the language "Hebrew" will work with viperx rom? cuz im using right now the app "more locale 2" to change the system to hebrew.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087443
This is the latest one.
I can see עברית in language settings. It is Hebrew, right?
For the keyboard it is unfortunately not available.
Everything in 'Original Android Development' is built from source, AOSP ROMs. It also contains 'extraordinary' development like ViperX
Under 'Android Development' you can find most Sense ROMs

wow thank you for all the help, עברית its hebrew as you said.
is there any widget/app/anything that can get me a sense keyboard with hebrew?
No. HTC have not integrated Hebrew language in any of their recent Sense keyboards, Arabic neither.
You can install Stock Android keyboard if you want, it comes with hebrew out of the box.
Link: http://d-h.st/XuS
Install like normal APK.

when it got rebooted it showed me the lock screen (as it should) but when i try to unlock it restarts!!! :crying:
edit:
nevermind, fixed it, the guide i used never said anything about deleting cache after flashing boot img =.=
Did you do full wipe before installing?
Tap wipe data/factory reset in cwm.
Then install the rom again.

[Q] Latest ARHD v CM10.3

Hi - forgive me if this has been covered already.
About 12/18 months ago I flashed a version of AR onto my HTC One X - absolutely brilliant! Thing that impressed me the most was the battery life which more than doubled. Well, before Christmas I installed CM10.2 - it took a while to figure out where I was going wrong, and did have a bit of help from one or two people on here, thank you very much.
However, I can practically watch my battery drain now. So I have a couple of questions please...
Firstly, I've plaid with with the performance tweaks but they don't seem to do a great deal. I've restricted my CPU speed and a couple of other mods but it doesn't seem to do a great deal. Is there anything else I can do so that my battery lasts past midday?
Secondly I have had to freeze Theme Provider using Titanium Backup because I got that annoying pop up window after installing/uninstalling a theme. Is there a simple way of getting this back?
Finally (I know I said a couple of questions - sorry), if I wanted to revert back to ARHD, all the ROM's for seem to be for 4.2 or below only, yet I have 4.3.1. Is this right? If not, could somebody point me in the right direction please?
Many thanks in advance
Battery life sense vs aosp has been discussed many times, read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2543222
4.2.2 is the latest and final release by HTC, sadly there will be no more official updates.

last official from htc is 4.2.2
It says 4.3.1 because you are on a custom rom. For instance there are now aosp roms (cm11).that's android 4.4 ...... Sense roms are indeed up to 4.2.2 and not beyond that.

If you want a custom sense 5 rom then i suggest to use philz touch recovery 5.15 and install a clean new sense 5 rom. If you want to go back to 100% stock rom you need a nandroid backup of the stock rom.
