Hi,
I have the Taiwan variant of the HTC One M8.
I was running Android 4.4.4 with an unlocked bootloader unlocked via HTCDEV. There were no other modifications.
Today I updated to Android 5.0 through OTA and it went smoothly.
After that I installed TWRP via Fastboot, and tried installed SuperSu through that.
SuperSU installed but would not get root access. I mistakenly wiped via the Fastboot menu after that. The phone will not boot into the Android system anymore.
I installed TWRP again via Fastboot but am unsure how to proceed.
I can't find the appropriate files for my model.
modelid: 0P6B11000
cidnum: HTC__621
S-On
Bootloader Unlocked.
The only Nandroid Backup I found with my cidnim was 2.22.709.4 - TWRP.
Would it be okay to restore to this, or what should I do now?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Yep, restore that one and flash back the stock recovery. Then update again

Thanks for that.
I had already installed from the old nandroid backup, but as soon as I hit Android 5, my wifi stops working.
I'll try using your Android 5 Nandroid now.
Thanks again.

Hello.
I need some help with the update process on the HTC ONE X.
Here is my phone info:
Code:
Android version : 4.1.1
S-ON
version-bootloader: 1.36.0000
version-baseband: 5.1204.162.29
version-main: 3.14.708.28
platform: HBOOT-T30S
cidnum: HTC__622
I have CWM Custom recovery and the bootloader is unlocked.
I am trying to update the software to the latest one available.
Here is what I tried:
1)Performing a regular OTA update. It won't update.
2)Getting the OTA zip and flashing it trough CWM. After this I am stuck in a bootloop.
3)Using<RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_hTC_Asia_HK_3.14.708.28_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_299865_signed> . I get Error 132 signature error.
4)Running <<RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_hTC_Asia_HK_1.29.708.15_Radio_2.1204.122.17_release_268338_signed>. Gives an error regarding the bootloader version.
4) Extracting the zip from <RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_hTC_Asia_HK_1.29.708.15_Radio_2.1204.122.17_release_268338_signed>, flashing recovery, boot, and system img, relocking the bootloader and runing the <RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_hTC_Asia_HK_3.14.708.28_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_299865_signed> . Again signature error.
Right now I restored a nandroid backup.
Could you please point me in the right direction? I'm not really a beginner in flashing but coming from Samsung, flashing One X is very time consuming and honestly I lost my patience.
I think I got the right firmware (considering cid) but I may need to flash something from the stock rom before I can update.
I just want to update to the latest stock rom and if possible to a custom one. So, can you guy provide some info and maybe some links about what versions could I flash considering the information about the phone posted in the opening?
Thank you.

relock the bootloader first then run the RUU.

I tried that already.
All you had to do was flash the stock recovery.
To get ota you must have stock Rom, stock boot.img and stock recovery. You do not have to lock the bootloader for ota but you do before you run an ruu, which is probably why you got a signature error on the first one. And lastly, you cannot run an ruu which is lower than your main version

Thank you for the info. Is the recovery from the clockwork nandroid backup the right one or could you please point me to a link with the right stock recovery?
And one more thing: is Android Revolution HD compatible with my phone?

No, the recovery in the nandroid is a custom recovery. You can get the stock recovery from the general section from the "collection of stock nandroids" thread. Or you can Google "3.14 stock recovery" and look for clydeb1's dev host account, he has a load of recoveries listed. And yes, arhd is compatible with your phone, as is any other rom in the one x thread.

I was running 4.4.4 kitkat on my htc one m8 with a cid no. of HTC__038 and the software no. - 3.35.720.1, s-on and booloader unlocked. I flashed TWRP recovery and rooted it then I unrooted it and installed stock recovery back again but it is still showing a modified tag in bootloader screen and I am unable to install lollipop on my phone as it gets stuck while installing in the installing screen. I used Hasoon2000's toolkit for this. Now, what should I do? Please help!
Hi folks,
Got notification for the above update on my m8 last night. So downloaded and rebooted. Went into custom recovery and asked about a system file.. and selected ok.... with the power button but update didn't install just rebooted phone..
My phone was rooted and i converted it from stock sense to GPE edition rom.
Had to unroot to get work email app working on the phone..
Any suggestions on how to get this update installed?
Cheers,
Mick

Android L-MR1 Upgrade won't install
Same problem here. Keep getting the notifications. When given permission to install it reboots into TWRP. Unable to install the update.zip from within TWRP as expected. Guess I'll watch for somebody to figure it out.
OTA updates require stock recovery to install. Find your stock recovery in the thread sticky at the top of General forum and flash with fastboot.
stock recovery
Does flashing the stock recovery erase contents or just change the recovery app ?
Thanks

Recovery isn't an app. It's a partition that contains the recovery console. And no, flashing a recovery won't wipe anything, except the old recovery console.
Recovery Console
I have rooted and used a few phones and roms but am no expert by any stretch of the imagination. This issue is perplexing.
I understand that the L-MR1 OTA update will not install with TWRP and requires the stock recovery. I downloaded what I thought was the correct recover image and have successfully flashed it but the update will still not install.
Here is what I have...... Is there a specific recovery image that is needed and if so which one ??
Model: HTC6525LVW HTC M8
VERSION 5.01
BASEBAND: 0.89.20.0321
KERNEL: 3.4.0-Elite-g06e8525
Build: Digitalhigh GPE LRX22c.H5 release-keys
Unlocked S-Off
CID-VZW__001
HBOOT 3.19.0.0000
RADIO 0.89.20.0321
I used 2.23.631.2 recovery.img.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Dude...
Besides the fact that you are S-off, and can just flash a Verizon firmware package to update the easiest way there is (that's my favorite part of being s-off), there are RUUs available for all US carriers.
Search for a verizon firmware.zip and enjoy the freedom of S-off. Download it and flash it and don't lose any data. S-OFF FTW!

You need to flash a RUU (if one exists for your firmware) or to restore a TWRP backup (which can be found here). When you flash something with TWRP your system gets mounted as read/write. OTAs can only be installed if your system is untouched and mounted as read-only. That's why you need a RUU or a TWRP backup to recover the ability of installing OTAs.
The problem that I couldn't find any ruu.
I'll try the twrp thing. Thank you so much

Did you even think about reading the instructions in my google sheet? They clearly state that you have to restore the backup that corresponds to your current firmware version. Now you're using a rom based on 2.9.710.5 and the firmware 2.9.710.2. You couldn't install OTAs with that combination, either.
Besides version 2.9.710.5 is the latest for your SKU (710) so of course you don't receive update notifications since there are no further updates. Until now only the developer and the "unlocked" variant of the M9 got an official marshmallow update (both have the SKU 617). And before you start asking: No, your phone is not the "unlocked" variant. If you're interested you can look at the explanation I posted here.
Hi - I really hope someone can help me!
I have a unlocked UK HTC 10, I rooted sometime ago. Anyway, in preparation for the upcoming Nougat release, I wanted to be sure to be able to receive the OTA so I decided to go back to stock.
I (stupidly) flashed stock firmware 1.80.401.3 from within TWRP and then restored stock recovery (this was my mistake).
Now I can use the phone, but cannot take OTA's. Checking versions using fastboot getvar all, I have:
version-main: 1.95.401.4
mid: sp2620000
cid: htc_001
I cannot flash any updates as they are older than 1.95.401.4 (im s-on). I believe all Ill need to do is flash 1.95.401.4 again to restore OTA and get the versions to tally up - however my SD card i backed upto has died and I cannot find 1.95.401.4 anywhere.
Can any one help please with a 1.95.401.4 update or twrp backup?
I hope some one can! Or another solution to get this working please?
Many thanks in advance

If you're s-on how you flashed older version of firmware? Besides you can't flash firmware in recovery.
I think you should wait for new android nougat ruu and flash it. You will be able to get RUU after official update.
You can flash this android nougat ruu 2.28.401.9,
but it's not official, leaked version.

That could be along wait. If someone has 1.95.404.4 I should be able to restore to it using twrp??

Ok, Twrp flahes OTA, not full update - I mean firmware too, it's only system update.
Can any one please help? A twrp system backup of 1.95.401.4 should fix my issue! Thanks!
Looks like you need an untouched system image + boot image which is available here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ht...ry-ruu-ota-t3359297/post69259321#post69259321
restoring the above will make you device eligible to receive otas, if you get an "unexpected error" when attempting to install the ota then you will need to flash this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/guide-how-to-ota-receive-corrupt-message-t3378187
there are no ruu's available for 1.95.401.x (latest being 1.90.401.5)
