Unfortunately, without box it is possible only in the official Samsung repair service.

not the same handset but the principles are the same
combigned with reading this and doing some googling you will be able to solve this, and a small idea, i once went to report my phone stolen and demanded the imei of the phone last active on my sim card in case it had been used on another phone which they did give me in the end.
but as smeone has said samsung are the easiest method or if they wouldnt then replacing the board yourself is the second easiest, but this is a backup option if you need it.
EDIT
Just found this, it may help alot.

No Signal Uk - Need help / opinions please

Hi , i almost brought a Desire immaculate condition but the seller is saying its got No signal, cannot find a signal and may work outside the uk
but do you guys think its a hardware problem? or that flashing a custom rom change the modems/firmware etc etc could fix the problem
The device is stock from what i can tell
thanks for any help in advance
Perhaps its blocked, could've been reported lost or stolen and hence the serial number barred.

Signal blocked

Hi,
I thought somebody rob my phone, so I went to my network operator and they blocked it. Today I found my phone, but when I turn it on, I have no signal (no service).
Anyway they will give me a new phone, but can I somehow turn that signal on???
I tried root and Custom ROM Cyanogen 9 night but still the same. I tried SIM card from different country but still the same.
They somehow blocked my phone to turn on signal.
Please help... maybe I have to flash a new radio.
THX
No, that's considered stealing
The phone is blacklisted on their network, so its basically a parts phone now

Call your carrier back and see if they can re-activate it. They should have only suspended service. Having no connection is normal when they do that.
is there possibility to change IMEI ? yes i know its illegal but is there chance ?

It really depends on your carrier, I know Verizon will temporally suspend all service until you find your phone, unless you know for a fact it was stolen, then they will blacklist the IMEI and send you a replacement.
So unless you tell them to cancel the one they are sending you, and re-activate the one you have, then no. Basically, there is no way to get a free phone out of this.

Yes but no one will tell you due to the fact that its go to prison illegal

So, I can just sell the phone for parts or find somebody who can change mechanical the IMEI chip?

call your carrier first.
I always seems to see people openly discussing illegal stuff in a public forum..
so best way is to call my operator and tell them that i found the phone and would like to activate my IMEI on that phone?

if you want to use the same phone, that is the only way to go.
Yes, and cancel the phone they were gonna send. Don't scam the company you arse.

so, tmrw i will call them and hope they will activate it.
Discussion of activating a blacklisted phone is against forum rules

[Q] Demo note 2 imei and baseband problem

Hi i have been given a samsung galaxy note 2 but it is a demo from samsung. It has everything in it but it doesnt have an imei and doesnt register to a network. It has a sim slot but it doesnt pick up network. If i type *#06# it says imei null. Also another thing i noticed is that it has no baseband version. It keeps loading retail mode from samsung all the time however i have managed to get rid of it. Is there a way to flash it with different firmware to get sorted. I am not an expert so if someone can guide me step by step that will be great.

Return the phone and request a new one mate. Your story sounds fishy to me to be honest

There's nothing fishy about his story. Samsung demo units only contain WiFi connectivity options to discourage theft and resale.

One direct question, how the hell u got this phone or who gave it to u?

Its not fishy it has been given to me by samsung for demo in mobile stores in uk. It does connect to wifi as someone mentioned its just it dont pick sim cards probably because samsung blocked it. As i got a sim with unlimited data i want to use it and get rid of my dongle and laptop.

Since samsung supplied it (in your words) for demo in mobile stores in uk I doubt they would be particularly pleased with it being supplied with an imei (which is TOTALLY dodgy to me) for personal use when it was never intended for that!
Sorry dude but it does sound fishy.
No manufacturer would be pleased to install custom roms too..... So solution please if you have any?

I would not flash anything if you have these issues right from the get go, take it back to place of purchase and or call your carrier. Demo is just that Demo...

[Q] S4 demo unit

Hello everyone
I m working for a mobile company (Wind telecomunications) in Greece and we recently recieved in the store a demo unit of S4. All the other devices we used to recieve were proper phones with proper functionality. It is the first demo unit we recieved (no imei on device) so I would like to know if there is any way to transform it into a normal device. I read some articles on internet about demo units. Some of them saying that flasing a rom solved the issue but some others say that demo units lacking the antenna. Probably mine is missing the anntena as well because I tried to put a sim card and there was no response from the phone. Moreover by calling 112 the phone says that couldnt deliver the call.
So... Propably is antena problem. I would like to know if it is possilble to order and antenna part from ebay (or other) and istall it to the device along with firmware installation or demo unit can be used only as a tablet without sim.
(Important! I am not stealing the device but I am about to use it after it gets off from the live demo wall.)
Thanks

i dont think you can buy just the antenna. you best bet would be to get a broken galaxy s4 from ebay and scrap it for the part you need.
and even then i dont know if you are able to transfer the antenna. Someone with more knowledge about hardware could clarify if its even possible
Hmm i would try flashing stock firmware and use a tool to repair the imei not going to mention the tool here ,...go to a cell phone shop say imei repair they might help u ...

The problem is not the imei repair but if the device can be used like that or not. If someone knows what exactly is the problem and how it can be repaired.
make me call

Question IMEI Repair

I paid for an IMEI repair and I believe it messed up my phone. I was told it was not rooted, but I can not get Samsung Wallet to work at all. Is there a way I can restore the original IMEI without having to root the phone? The phone was originally Branded to AT&T. Can anyone help me please? I had to repair the screen myself because the IMEI shows up as a S21 Ultra so I couldn't even file an Insurance claim when I broke my screen to get a new phone. Any help will be appreciated.
I am just trying to restore my phone to the original IMEI it had before I did this. I am not trying to get anyone in trouble just would like to fix my phone.

You do know that it is an offence in most countries for a 3rd party to change an IMEI number don't you...
