Question IMEI Repair - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

I paid for an IMEI repair and I believe it messed up my phone. I was told it was not rooted, but I can not get Samsung Wallet to work at all. Is there a way I can restore the original IMEI without having to root the phone? The phone was originally Branded to AT&T. Can anyone help me please? I had to repair the screen myself because the IMEI shows up as a S21 Ultra so I couldn't even file an Insurance claim when I broke my screen to get a new phone. Any help will be appreciated.

I am just trying to restore my phone to the original IMEI it had before I did this. I am not trying to get anyone in trouble just would like to fix my phone.

Who originally changed the IMEI that you paid for?

You do know that it is an offence in most countries for a 3rd party to change an IMEI number don't you...

Thieves use this method to try to get around blocked stolen phones. I suggest that you contact the company that did this for you.

IMEI and contracts

I have an O2 orbit.
I paid through the nose for it (on ebaY) and I'm getting a lot of hassle (its certainly stolen or contract blocked).
Is there any way to change the IMEI number so that I can use it again, using a different network sim? Or an unblock facility?
Also I dont know about this but as its a multi-use phone, could you still use the phone as a non-cell PDA once its blocked from the network? I know that some phones are completely dead once barred but then their only use is for a phone anyway. Is it the same for PDA phones? Like having it on flight mode? Or does it brick up as well?
Thanks.
edit: BTW Is there any way to check an IMEI number remotely to see if its blacklisted before buying on ebay?

Are you trying to cheat the insurance? If the phone is to be 'broken', how do you reckon it will work on a different network sim?
Anyway, changing IMEI is possible but illegal, and theoritically, it can be traced if not done carefully. Search for the IMEI il-legal statement by VJ in this forum.

Anyway, the PDA feature will still work as long as you don't stick in a SIM.
DeadDavy, whilst I realise your frustration what you are talking about is both insurance fraud and it is illegal to change the IMEI.
This is an open forum and not for that kind of talk. Please don't post anything more on the subject as it could bring this forum into disrepute.
i read that post and understand its illegal. But so is selling dodgy phones. I only want to change it to one of my old buggered phones imei's.
I alternatively could claim it lost soon on my insurance. Thats illegal as well. But with my first choice no one loses out. I just paid a lot of money for a paperweight.
ok thanks. no more posts on subject.

I presume you have exhausted all the "normal "channels to get your money back, e.g raised a dispute with eBay? Or did the scally close their account?
Edit:- just found this

Dunno how effective it is though.

Signal blocked

Hi,
I thought somebody rob my phone, so I went to my network operator and they blocked it. Today I found my phone, but when I turn it on, I have no signal (no service).
Anyway they will give me a new phone, but can I somehow turn that signal on???
I tried root and Custom ROM Cyanogen 9 night but still the same. I tried SIM card from different country but still the same.
They somehow blocked my phone to turn on signal.
Please help... maybe I have to flash a new radio.
THX
No, that's considered stealing
The phone is blacklisted on their network, so its basically a parts phone now

Call your carrier back and see if they can re-activate it. They should have only suspended service. Having no connection is normal when they do that.
is there possibility to change IMEI ? yes i know its illegal but is there chance ?

It really depends on your carrier, I know Verizon will temporally suspend all service until you find your phone, unless you know for a fact it was stolen, then they will blacklist the IMEI and send you a replacement.
So unless you tell them to cancel the one they are sending you, and re-activate the one you have, then no. Basically, there is no way to get a free phone out of this.

So, I can just sell the phone for parts or find somebody who can change mechanical the IMEI chip?

call your carrier first.
I always seems to see people openly discussing illegal stuff in a public forum..
so best way is to call my operator and tell them that i found the phone and would like to activate my IMEI on that phone?

if you want to use the same phone, that is the only way to go.
Yes, and cancel the phone they were gonna send. Don't scam the company you arse.

so, tmrw i will call them and hope they will activate it.
Discussion of activating a blacklisted phone is against forum rules

Is it bad because of non payment or because it reported lost or stolen?
I work for a sprint repair center and this is covered under the warranty and if you have insurance you can get it replaced. If the tech knows anything he or she will see that's not fixable in the store.
Don't worry about the unrooting thing that doesn't cause this issue. For some reason I see this every now and the no idea what the cause is personally. good luck!

I don't know. The owner said the phone can only be flashed to Pageplus or Verizon. He works in a phone repair store. I would imagine he knows his stuff. I think he might have tried to flash it and for some reason or another he messed up the IMEI....thats my guess.

Blocked phone

Hi
A friend in work gave me his HTC one X to practice on as he damaged it and claimed on the insurance, because of this, the phone was blocked. Is there a way of unblocking this? Not concerned if it has to be rooted, as I can read up from here and do that.
If not, then I'll just use it for spares .
It's a UK phone (if that makes a difference)
Thanks
Thought id give this a bump and see if anyone has an idea about this?
Thanks

Sounds like the imei has been blocked by the carrier. The only way to get it unblocked is if your friend contacts the carrier, which he probably won't because he would most likely be done for insurance fraud as he has claimed a new phone.

[Q] Note 3 security questions

I bought a used Note 3 on ebay and wondering if
1) The seller claims the esn is clean. Is there a way that I can verify that this phone is clean (i.e.: not stolen)?
2) The phone is also rooted. I'm concerned that it's possible that rooted phone could have hidden spyware apps installed. Is there some app or tools I can use to check for possible spyware?
Thanks!

1.
The should be able to provide you the IMEI before purchase. Many e-bay sellers put it directly in the listing. Once you have it you can check it here :

2.
Whenever you get a phone, rooted or not, flash it to stock. No spyware will survive a clean flash.

To be honest, even if you called t mobile and they told you the phone esn is clean, it can still be blocked later for probably one of the following reasons:
The person who bought this phone on contract and sold it on ebay and later for some reason, he decided not to keep paying the installment.
The person who sold you that phone just want to screw you and can later falsely report to t mobile that his phone is stolen.
Either of the situation happens, you might end up with a phone with blaskliested imei.

I've read that there's a way to avoid this. If its a T-Mobile device the imei can be registered on your account and in your name. Then the device can't be blacklisted later on. Granted if its a different carrier this doesn't really matter

That would be as long as the phone is paid off.
