I have bricked/soft bricked my sm-t800 trying to flash bliss rom. I can only boot into download mode. Can anyone please point me in the right direction for a factory image for the USA model. I cannot find it on sammobile or anywhere. I have found one xda thread with stock firmware but it fails in odin. The thread states that it does not wipe data. I cannot access recovery at all just download mode. Anybody who can help me fix my device I will make a generous PayPal donation. I literally have had my tab s for a day. I will try to return to bestbuy if I cannot fix it but i;m unsure if they will take it with knox tripped. I also cannot power off the tab my options are the powered by android boot screen or download screen.
Hello. Have you tryed this firmwares? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2960225 and,,,,,, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56618136 Download one and try to install it with odin.
If that doesnt work, try to flash twrp http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2817100 and untick auto reboot. Then power off the device then hold volume up,home, power really quick till it boots into recovery. If you get in, now just transferr a custom rom from your pc over to the tab s on flash it with twrp.
If that doesnt work, try plugging the tab s into your pc when the tab s is fully off. When the tab s is fully off, plug the tab s into your pc and do the button combo to boot into recovery.
If that doesn't work, then check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54618555
If that doesn't work then download samsung kies 3 and try to restore from there (guides on youtube).
If that doesnt work if you got adb installed on your pc, type in adb reboot recovery in adb and see if that works.
I will be back tomorrow as I have to sleep, try these and ill check back in the morning. But anyway you probably cannot save your data since it wont reboot in recovery. But if the twrp trick worked then you may be able to save them

Not sure if this has been answered in another forum or in this thread. But it was quite difficult getting into recovery mode for my Galaxy Tab S 10.5 as I had planned to downgrade from the dreadful "Lollipopped" back to KitKat.
So I took the advice from a previous poster in this thread to Press the volume down key + power button until the device reset and as soon as the screen turned off I quickly pressed the volume up + power + Home key. This got me into recovery mode to do a factory reset, wipe cache and now I have succesfully downgraded back to KitKat.
I had some pry tools ready to open up the back casing. Luckily I decided to give it another shot.
Thanks for the posts guys n gals...

OK I was trying to flash an unlocked kernal via ODIN last night, something went wrong and now phone is stuck on the phone--!--computer screen. I cannot get past this screen. vol+home+power doesn't do anything but loop to the same screen.
It shows ODIN MODE in red at the top of the screen, but ODIn won't recognize the phone, nor will Kies (not running at the same time). Computer makes USB connected/disconnected sound when I plug and unplug the phone.
I have tried One-Click Unbrick, did not recognize that phone was connected.

there''s currently nothing to flash this phone
it came out only 2 days ago
DEV are still working on finding root
so, the best suggestion is to take it back to the store and get it exchanged
or wait a few more days/weeks until a flashable release becomes available to fix the mistake
I know, I was hasty and now this. Even when there something available to flash, the device isn't being recognized by ODIN. Any troubleshooting help for this?
When I managed to get my Vibrant into that mode I could pull the battery, hold volume up, put the battery in, press and release power (still holding volume up) and it'd kick back into download mode everytime. Once in download mode I could plug the USB in and a running ODIN would see it pop up. If ODIN wasn't running and USB was already plugged in things wouldn't work right.
I haven't tried ODIN on the GS2 yet (I'll wait for a root ). I did find the vibrant nearly impossible to brick though... trust me I unexpectedly tried quite hard.
You might need the newest ODIN for GS2 support, and possibly newer drivers.

I'm a bit new to this, but a custom ROM shouldn't affect your recovery mode. Are you sure you are using the correct buttons and methods to boot recovery?
Might want to make a new thread instead of necroing something from when the phone was 2 days old.

You should try to uninstall then reinstall driver, and try another usb port. In my experience, Odin seems to be picky, it only recognizes your phone if you plug it in the usb port that you used in the first time.

Recovery is accessed by holding both vol + and - while starting the phone. Hold them both while pressing the power button, then release the power button when it vibrates, keep holding the vol buttons till you see the recovery screen.

i tryed this but still odin does not recognize my phone. (no yellow box shows up)
Hello all, i was trying to flash back to my stock rom 4.0.2 from my custom rom 4.1.1 and then my little brother accidently unplug the cable and now my phone cant boot up. I can hear the sound but the screen is all black and the vibrator keep going off every 10 seconds. i couldnt go to recovery mode. I didnt do NANO back up either. So please someone help what should i do to get my phone back to normal. Thank you
uhm, kick your brother in the face? lol. you are screwed man.
Afraid he may be right.
Pull battery to make sure phone is off and try to boot into download mode.
If you can call yourself lucky, and odin flash the stock fw. Tie up your brotber first this time!
If you can't boot to download mode or recovery, then you are probably hard bricked.

This shouldn't be too hard. I can't see how your download mode could have gotten damaged.
It sounds like you were using ODIN? You can get into download mode by pulling the battery. Then hold vol down+home and press power. Hold the first 2 until it is well on the way to coming up. Then you can flash the stock ROM by putting it in the PDA field of ODIN. The ROM should be easily findable in these sub-forums.
An alternate if you have a ROM zip file - which are more plentiful - is to use ADB. Although that takes a bit more confidence. In SUPER short because it can never be in enough threads:
1. Obtain a ROM of your choice, and note the location on your computer.
2. reboot your device into fastboot mode via one the following .
1. power off the device then back on with 'vol down ' + power button.
3. Wipe your device.
1. fastboot -w
4 . Update your ROM.
1. fastboot update </path/to/your/RomFile.zip>
5. Your phone will update and automatically reboot into the new ROM.
But really I'd go with ODIN. It's just easier.
call tmobile and tell them u installed a app off the market and your phone froze
go thru all the crap they tell you to restart the phone
obviously it wont turn on
wait for them to tell you that they are gonna send you a new phone

I'm bumping this old thread because of a question specific to the info above. I'm in adb and cannot flash the rom to phone because i'm stuck at
fastboot update </path/to/your/RomFile.zip>
I'm obviously not putting the correct path in, so can someone tell me the correct path if my rom is located in
C:\android-sdk\sdk\platform-tools\TD.zip
I've tried all sorts of combinations and am stuck at this point, which is frustrating because i'm almost there.
Thanks in advance.
re: starting fresh
Ok everyone stop messing around, if your phone won't boot to CWM/TWRP or even if it does boot to CWM/TWRP but
you cannot flash custom roms for one reason or another this step by step guide is for you.
If your phone will not go into download mode you will need to exchange it or get it repaired by jtag.
If your phones do go into download mode successfully just follow this step by step guide to get your phone back up and working.
Easy and sure way to to get your phone back up and running properly with this step by step guide:
After you have followed these instructions your phone will be in the same condition
as it was the day you have purchased it except with the benefit of being rooted.
Download the stock-rooted T999 firmware: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556426451
After downloading it make a folder on your computer's desktop and unzip the
file using Winzip or 7zip so the .TAR file is in the new folder you just made.
Here is a link for ODIN which is required for flashing the stock rooted firmware (a windows app) http://d-h.st/Q14
Download and extract Odin into the same folder you made containing the TAR file.
Download the Odin Flash firmware for T999 Tmobile then copy it to the same folder as Odin
Run Odin by double clicking the Odin.exe within the same folder as the TAR file you extracted
Turn off your phone and boot into DOWNLOAD MODE (Volume Down + Home + Power Hold until phone powers up, then release and press Volume Up to enter Download Mode)
Once in Download Mode, connect the USB/Charger cable to the phone and plug into the USB port on your computer.
You should now see a COM** port listed toward the top-left of Odin (under ID:COM)
Click on the PDA button in the middle-right area of Odin.
Browse to and select the Firmware you downloaded (TAR file)
Make sure Auto-Reboot and F. Reset Time are the only options checked and that PDA is the only other thing checked.
TRIPLE CHECK your settings and that you have selected the correct firmware for your model phone and are using the correct options.
If you are using a laptop, make absolutely sure you are plugged in, or if on battery, that it is charged enough and will not go into sleep mode during flash.
Click Start to begin the flash. This will take a while, so be patient!
Once complete, in the top-left box in Odin, it will say PASS and the phone should have automatically rebooted.
You may unplug the phone and close Odin if you wish.
Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the system to boot the first time and then build its cache!
(It may seem to hang during boot, this is normal and you must be patient!!!)
Good Luck!

I tried to root my sgs3 today and wasn't paying attention and used the wrong guide. I used the stuff for the non-us phones. Now when I turn my phone on, the only thing that shows up is "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I've tried using kies to reset it but I had never used it previously so it is unable to connect to the phone. It basically has 2 states now, off and the one described. is there any way to fix this?

Enter download mode by pressing the three keys power button+home key+volume down.
If it doesnt work enter recovery mode by pressing power button+ home key+volume up
And if both won't work you might have to use a usb jig

listen to what people are saying to you. go into download mode. Your phone turns on and it should be able to go into download mode now. I wouldn't mess with command prompt if i were you or your friend. Once your in download mode download the stock image for your carrier and the correct phone model and flash it through odin

Just to clear things up. When the device says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." It is putting itself into download mode and you should see the normal download mode text at the top of the screen to clarify "Product Name, Custom Binary, ETC". The previous posters are correct, you must flash via odin. Follow the guide here very carefully and it should be fixed.

Remember the recovery screen you are seeing IS download mode so pretend you already put the phone in download mode and follow it from there.
Best of luck!
Hello my friends.
I got a Galaxy Note II here - but my sister decided to play with it and now its locked on the 'too many wrong patterns screen'.
To make things even worst i haven't associated it with a google account (i recently bought it from a friend of mine).
When i try to hard-reset it the phone goes to the famous android logo with red exclamation - i think he rooted the phone and didn't told me.
Anyway when i get on this screen if i press the 'back' key on the phone i can access the 'Android System Recovery' - but i can't select any option.
I know i should use vol up/down to scrool betweeen options and power to select - but i press power and nothing happens.
Tried also pressing the menu button - nothing happened also.
Another problem is, for some reason i don't know the phone won't connect to my computer - only in charge mode.
Tried tons of things lots of times but it isn't showing up no matter what i do.
I tried also to call me from another phone and get in any menu - but when i do that i can only select normal options (send an sms, refuse call, accept).
I would like to hear suggestions from you guys since i've ran out of resources - i don't know what else i can do in order to recover the phone.
Thanks in advance
additional note: i just know its model is i9220+
It accepts WCDMA and a GSM SIM.

This is what i want.
But my computer do not detect the phone so i can't go into download mode.
I don't have anything important there - not worried about what is on its memory.
like i said when i plug the phone into the computer it only starts charging and nothing more.
is there 'any trick' i can try heh ?
ps: i installed kies, uinstalled, installed samsung usb drivers, installed, etc...well what i mean is that i tried most of those tricks to get the phone detected but no success - maybe flashing directly from my SD ?
also - i 'suspect' my phone is that n7100 . since i don't have its manual and can't access its menu either i just suspect because its from brazil and those n7100 models are like 'international'.

ok from how you are explaining stuff I'm not sure if you understand the flashing procedure thoroughly and risk involved
1. flashing can be risky
2. you need to download Odin example version 1.8
3. when your phone just powers on you need to know the EXACT model number example N7105 or N7100 or any other version..this is very important as if you flash a wrong firmware you could destroy your phone completely
4. find a stock ROM for your phone on xda or at samfirmware.com
5. install Samsung drivers or install Samsung kies but while Odin is on Samsung kies services must be closed
6. keep your phone in download mode by switching off your phone then HOLD CENTER/HOME BUTTON + VOLUME DOWN + POWER BUTTON
7. your phone may warn you and I believe may ask you to press volume up button to continue
8. then you are now in download mode.
9.open Odin
10. connect your phone to your pc via USB cable..give it time to register/install itself as a new hardware..etc etc as you may see new hardware detected pop up if running on Windows
10. a yellow COM port will appear on Odin showing the phone is connected
11. place the stock ROM file on the PDA section UNTICK REPARTITION , TICK REBOOT
12. this should flash your phone....however my procedure is a vague way of how to go about it... you may need to see a detailed step by step procedure on XDA if you are new to this.
I take no responsibility for any damages...I hope you almost everything we do here on XDA had risks involved
or the safer option take to a Samsung repair center!!

Vol Down + Home + Power
then vol up in warning screen to finally get download mod.

Okay
when i put the device into download mode (vol down + home + power) - it goes to a 'factory mode'
then options i have here are:
Full Test
Item Test
Test Report
Clear eMMC
Version
Reboot
And i can't choose any of 'em , no matter what i press.
Same happens when i go into recovery mode.
For getting into recovery o mode i i press the following combination: vol up + home + power
Then i get the android logo when a red exclamation - but when i press the 'back' button i can get into the "Android System Recovery <3e>", where i have the following options:
Reboot System Now
apply update from sdcard
apply update from cache
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
backup user data
restore user data
and same thing - i can't select any of 'em - no matter what button combination i press.
I tried plugging the phone into three computers none of 'em detected the phone.
Sometimes after many power on/off the computer detects it but instantly loses also - its something very quickly.
I can't get into any of the menus of the phone since i'm stuck in the 'too many wrong patterns' screen and i have no associated google account.
Also when i plug the phone in the pattern screen the only thing it says its about charging - nothing about plug in usb or anything like that.
I'm a bit used with flashing (did it a lot on my RAZR XT910) and i know all risks.
I've also found out my note ii is model GT-N7100 (this is the one sold in brazil) - i couldn't get its manual but my bet is going to be this - samsung service center won't repair the phone without the fiscal coupon .
I'll try more and keep this post update - but if anyone got an hint about this just tell me
Thanks in advance
Pablo
Your device seems to be clone one and not original N7100.
Have you purchased from authorized centre?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Your device is not a Samsung phone, you said as much in your first post.
Asking us to help is pointless, you need to talk to other clone owners and see what they have done.

Oh okay.
I tought it also but wasn't sure.
I'm really sorry for taking your time
It was looking like Samsung because of its back
There's an stick with:
MODEL: i9220+
FCC ID: A3L SHI9220+
For information call: 1 888 987 4357
Bluetooth
CE01688
IMEI
and Made in Korea
There are also entries to:
WCDMA SIM
GSM SIM
and SD Card
But when i power it on there's nothing related to Samsung in fact - i never get anything related to Samsung.
Only android logo like a rocket.
It seems to be running an android 4.1 because of the interface
Anyway i'll see what i can do and thanks in advance for all the help
Again, sorry for taking your time.
Pablo
EDIT:
A Thhread talking about my phone:

I'll keep searching information around XDA and google.
Again, thanks in advance

Sorry, I forgot the s2 does not have fastboot mode. You should download the stock rom zip and gapps onto your SD card. Then factory reset. Install the stock rom and gapps. Then factory reset again. Make sure you have the proper rom. I've had bootloops like you when trying to install certain roms. Currently my wife's s2 t989 is running cm 10.1.2 with no problems. Cm 10.2 would cause bootloops. If you are getting to the Samsung logo your phone is not bricked, so don't worry. We just have to figure out what's going wrong with your install process. Let me know what happens.
Did you flash a custom recovery? And if so which one? This will be needed before flashing roms.

the way I'm working is THE FOLLOWING:
First, I have samsung drivers installed on my notebook and the phone is recognized.
Second, open the odin program, and on the phone I press vol +, vol + and connect the USB cable, the phone starts in download mode ...
third, odin in pda select rom with. tar.md5, I remove the selection to "re-partition" (sometimes I leave selected)
Fourth, I start ...
wait a while, the installation goes well (I sometimes appears "fail") but usually completes the installation, the phone restarts (odin says that ended with "pass") once it restarts in case of using a rom T-Mobile, the logo appears on the screen, shuts down or restarts ... and no more lights, again only shows the samsung logo and restart every two seconds about ...
I guess I'm doing the procedure well, do not know if anything else can fail ...
I do not know if it's possible to "format" the phone, leave it completely to zero and see if that way I can mount a rom ... by the way, a couple of the rom I downloaded from sammmobile.com so I think that should be the corresponding ...
I hope someone can help me please ...
respect to recovery, well this phone apparently was installed a wrong rom, had no recovery, I try to install the cwm apparently installed fine, but when trying to enter the recovery, as it appears again, the phone restarts just what mentioned earlier
Did you preform a NANDROID backup before flashing?
If not you probably will have to install KIES and firmware upgrade from there. I had to do this a few times with bad roms/recoveries.
You can try CMinstaller (easiest way to flash rom), but unless you enabled usb debugging, it may not work...

This is the only thing that I can think of that may work. I've done this a few times.
Download and install Samsung Kies on your computer if you do not have it already installed on it.
Note down your phone’s Serial number somewhere. You can find it under the battery of your device or the box your brand new device came with.
Launch Kies and click Tools > Firmware Upgrade and Initialization
Connect your device to computer using USB cable.
Enter your device model name in all CAPS (GT-I9500, for example) and click on OK.
Then you will be asked to enter the Serial Number of your device.
Once again, select OK on the next screen.
Doing this will force Kies to download the require firmware update files for your device.
Respond and confirm all securities warnings to clear the way for emergency firmware installation and then select Start Upgrade.samsung-firmware-restore
Kies will now start downloading firmware files and the process might take several minutes depending or data connection speed.
When it is finished, new firmware will be installed on your device and you will see: samsung-firmware-restore-complete
Click on OK and disconnect the cable.
Reboot your device and done!

It seems that way. But maybe someone else here knows how to go about fixing it. The only thing that leads me to believe it is dead, is that you can't boot into recovery even after Odin.
If anyone can figure out a fix, please share, I'm a bit curious...

I just want to confirm your method for entering recovery. With the phone off and not plugged in you hold down both volume buttons and the power button. When the phone vibrates release the power button, and continue to hold down both volume buttons. Do not release volume buttons until the phone boots into recovery. This is what you are doing? I just want to cover the simple things before asking you to try more in depth possible solutions.
Check out this thread about faulty/dirty power buttons.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1931310
you flashed with a nearly dead battery? I always charge mine to 100%. I've had issues where my phone won't boot up properly like what yours is doing when the battery hits 0%.
I'd plug it in and leave it for half an hour or so and see if it boots then. Let it charge to 100% and then put on either CWM or TWRP (I've had better luck with TWRP personally) and flash your ROM from there.
I've never had luck flashing anything but recovery and stock from Odin. Other things seemed to be a little flaky.
Also, since this is in the T989 forum, I'm presuming you have the T989 which I believe the recovery buttons are vol+ and power not both (but I could be wrong).
Once other thing you could try is grab a copy of the android SDK (specifically ADB) and run:
adb logcat > boot.log
and post the file it creates (called boot.log). Also, try running:
adb reboot recovery
to see if you can get into recovery mode. I THINK (but have never tried) that ADB should work from download mode. Try booting into download mode and running adb reboot recovery to see if that helps.
That is my best guess anyways.
