Battery sticker - HTC One X

Hi guys,
I want to ask if the "golden" battery sticker is a "must" or it can be removed. If it is necessary, can u tell what type of tape it is please? It's like some kind of metalic ^^. Thank you.

It's copper foil, it helps dissipate the heat from the cpu and battery, you can get a replacement here: http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/351043696795?nav=SEARCH
Note: I'm in no way affiliated with the seller.

HTC One X - Tear Down Photos

http://fashion.pconline.com.cn/mobile/1204/2754053.html
Just like the sensation the One X can function seperate from its shell
However these photos also reveal the screen is one part with the metal lining which in tern locks into the polycarbonate
the problems some people are facing is a flex between the screen and the metal frame! glue problem or do we have clips there too?
Also you can see how to replace the battery
Great news that the battery is easily replaceable, hopefully the part is available to the public either first or third-party...

Great to see someone has been brave.... Must have large pockets or large stones.....
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium HD app
the bad news is the flex, is between the metal and screen, that's certainly a defect
i guess the glue is pooping out due to structural pressure or heat

Not so easy.... To change battery, have to remove mainboard (battery connector laying under)= warranty void...

Your warranty is void anyway, or you wouldn't be changing the battery yourself. ;-)
the more i think about it the more i realize most of the different issues around here are coming of this particular screen defect, where the glass is pulling from the metal frame around, i thought its glue
but i tried my hardest to lock mine back and now its locked into place
so i dont think it glued back, there most be also clips in there for the screen too to clip it with the metal frame
everyone with the flex issue should shut down the phone and try to lock it back
If I put quite a lot of pressure on mine it does stop it from creaking for a short while but it soon comes back.
I've noticed the creaking is worse when the device is cold too. For obvious reasons I guess

yes but im trying it now the more i apply pressure the more it becomes rigid, the gap is almost gone too
try around the whole rim and not just the affected area with the device turned off (no fast boot)
That big sheet of copper is for heat spread. Just so you know where all those heat is coming from. Apparently it needs a copper sheet to spread the heat about.
Just saying, for those who dont know yet. My chinese is horrible. That is about the only thing I can roughly understand.

still the device is a marvel, surely they have tested
actually whats aggravating the heat is the charging and wifi, tegra3 on its own is fine
Tested, COME ON! , have you see all the faults/features they barley test anything nowadays, and i still love my HOX

That copper will be transferring heat away from hotter areas, and towards cooler ones. The battery will be one of the hotter areas.
Also, it's likely there for RF shielding to some degree.

This explains why my phone won't charge at the same time as running something processor and graphically intensive.
It says...
"The opposite of taking it apart. As you put the phone back together, push the top area into the calycarbonate casing first then slowly work your way down the sides into the casing. The putback process was similiar to the Sensation, however the One X design may be for making the device more compact and thinner."

Changing white housing cover to BLACK.

The question is: is it possible to change the full housing to black? I have a white SGS2 but it has scratches all over... Also that silver edge is pretty much damaged from falls.
I was browsing around and found out that there are full housings for sale, but what about the amoled screen if I want to change the phone color?
Thanks in advance!

The screen is mounted to the frame (midsection of the casing, which is integrated with bezel) by a sticky tape -- ~1.5 mm wide all around the perimeter, and in some areas in the middle. When you buy a complete casing, it comes with the tape attached, so it's ready for you to mount the screen onto it. It will also show you where exactly the tape is located under the screen. The tricky part is do detach the screen from your old casing. Usually, it's done by heating it (carefully!) with a hot air gun, or even a hairdryer -- it will soften a glue layer and allow you to pry off the screen without cracking it. It's not that difficult, but if you are not comfortable doing it yourself, seek some help from an experienced person -- an electronics repair guy, or a seasoned DYI'er. However, keep in mind that sh*t happens, and there is still a chance to break the screen in the process, or fry it by overheating...
Thanks for the answer, kt-Froggy.
Can you give me a link to a trustworthy shop/casing?

I can only tell you where I bought mine... Not sure how trustworthy this source is, but it worked for me. I usually buy my stuff on Amazon. I searched for it, and ordered from this supplier (I was getting another item from them, so it was good to combine shipments). Delivered faster than promised, looked and worked as advertised, no problems with quality, so I was happy with it.

Looks promising... There's something else I should add. I'm using Samsung's original extended 2000mAh battery, so I should also look for the extended back cover which is different from the original one.

re-use display/screen with housing swap?

search is disabled/not working and i need an answer asap, sorry if this has been covered before!
i recently cracked the glass on my s3; it wasn't TOO bad and the display/screen itself wasn't cracked at all. the glass/digitizer has been removed but it seems as though the display is glued the EFF onto the chassis. i purchased an entirely new housing/chassis on ebay (wanted a color change ) and was wondering - how can i pull the display off the old chassis without damaging it? would using a blow dryer work well enough to pull it off, then re-adhere it to the new chassis? if so, i'm assuming it'd be safer to blow dry that area from the back/not directly onto the display itself? or is it too delicate to even attempt?
thanks for any/all responses!

YouTube is your friend with situations like these, you should be fine with a blow dryer and for most people its way too delicate to attempt. You just have to have a lot of patience.
Which color are you going with?

Just like the Note II and perhaps other Samsung phones...it is Painfully difficult to pull this off. Not impossible, just very difficult.
Check youtube, there's videos of people doing it there, but I warn you, it won't be easy. Blow dryer may not work, it may need a heat gun.

and, as you can imagine (or not, given your response), i've gone through every possible tear-down, glass removal, pull-this-*****-apart video on youtube. nothing speaks of removing the display itself, ONLY the glass and/or digitizer. i've replaced the glass/digitizer on other phones before, but i've yet to tackle the display. because it's (seemingly) stuck onto the chassis a lot stronger than the glass, i figured i'd ask.
so again, if anyone has actually removed the display and NOT the glass (or has a video/link/walk-through i may have overlooked), i'd greatly appreciate it.

thanks, but i've seen that one. the display is attached to everything (what he shows in the first few seconds, glass/digitizer/display already assembled). my glass/digitizer broke and has been removed, display still being on the housing itself and not cracked or ripped. the difference in price is $18 vs $178 for glass/digitzer and glass/digitizer/display, respectively. just wanted to see if anyone has replaced them all, but separately, saving over $150...
doesn't seem like that's been tried or done, though. i guess it wouldn't HURT to try - if successful, it'll have only cost $18. if unsuccessful, i'll have to spend the $178 anyway...can't hurt? i'll give it a try soon and report back.
thanks for the help either way, gentlemen!
btw, the reason for wanting to remove/re-adhere the display has to do with the fact that everything (sans broken glass, obv) will be swapped from one housing to another - going from white to grey, a complete color change. that's why i'm not just replacing the glass, in this case - if anyone was wondering

LG G4: Heatsink mod

LG G4 Heatsink mod
Hello
My lg g4 gets hot after taking like 50 photos in a row. I was using it pretty hard when i was on vacation as my "take-photo-device". After a lot of google searching, i found out that the G3 could have been modified internally to make the temps better and make sure the phone wasnt downclocking as much.
Is there a similar process that you can do on the G4?
Thanks for any help.
here....from Taiwan site....use google Translate if you don't understand it
http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=581&t=4532831
It requires you to remove the original shield, insert a copper plate on the CPU, add some thermal paste and the heat dissipation is better. This way the heat goes out the back cover instead of towards the front as well.
How easy is it to remove that plate.
There is a thermal mod in the works that could come closer to this with less effort but it needs root. Will be interesting to see cpu-z temps grabs with that mod and compare with this one.

problems with thermal mods is that they dont fix the underlying issue (which is the CPU getting hot and downclocking like mad), they just either up the temperature range or downclock the cpu from the start not allowing it to work.
I looked at the taiwan link, however i havent managed to figure it out. Can you use some alluminium foil rather than a copper plate?

Easy as. Just flick it up with a knife or screwdriver. Its only held in there with teeny metal grips.

Oneplus X Glass Repair

I recently bought a cracked oneplus x in hopes of fixing and using it. So I went ahead, heated it up and took the glass off. This went fine. I set the heat around 90-100° C and the glass came off just like it would from any other phone. The display is only glued on on the sides/bezels unlike Samsung phones in which the whole panel is glued down. This obviously made things easier. To my surprise the loca came off pretty easily with some rubbing alcohol. Before removing the glass you have to take off the soft keys, which are glued to the glass. These are connected to the back of the screen assembly by a connector which you can see in the pictures. It was when I went to buy the part I realized I had made a mistake: I couldn't find any. So I am stuck with this for now, and if anyone knows where I could buy the glass please give me a link. Regardless, I hope this is informational and helpful to anyone who might want to attmept this in the future.

I was hoping to do a glass only repair with loca uv glue since the glass alone is substantially cheaper. Thanks, however, I atleast have that as a backup, since it is at a pretty reasonable price for an amoled panel, if it takes too long for the glass to be available.

m opx screen got a crack after it fell down Touch is working and i had initially thought of replacing the entire set which cost around 8k but after reading your thread i feel it can be done by replacing just the cracked portion.
Can you guide me on how to get it done ? pls ping me on whatsapp 9633318375 (Sony, kerala)
Could you pls tell me how to put the glass of the phone ? Ping me on whatsapp (081282213266) isya pramesta
I would also love to know how you got the glass off!
I bought the glass by itself, and I'm hoping that I would be able to recreate your result, so if you can tell me a bit more about the process that would be nice!
Did anybody get more details pics/instructions on just replacing the glass, mine arrived today and I would like to get it done?
Also does anybody have a specific recommendation on the LOCA adhesive to use to glue the glass back on?

Ghh
---------- Post added at 02:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:54 PM ----------
Please any one suggest me how to replace only the front glass of one plus x
This is above and beyond being that the part for glass+LCD is like $30 on ebay.. Like you're risking the fact that the adhesive is like a little worse and a sunny day could easily destroy everything. If you're going to repair this phone, do the glass and LCD together.
Thanks for your reply...

I have few questions, what did you use to heat up the display ? I don't have a heat gun, will a hair dryer do the job ?
Also are there any ribbon cables which I need to be careful about while doing the process?
