[Q] Quick question on partition

Hey guys I would like some help on partitioning my sd card so I can move all my apps to my sd card. I know I need Fat32, EXT 3, and swap is optional correct? Have tried a few ways but nothing worked...
Here are some I have tried:
http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news/how-to-manually-partition-your-sd-card-for-android-apps2sd/
http://androinica.com/2009/09/how-to-create-a-2nd-partition-to-install-android-apps-on-an-sd-card/
Really no one has any input?

I could only find this to help you:

Yeah I finally figured out how to partition it but every time I try to move all my apps not just apps2d enabled apps to my sd card and reboot my phone it goes into a boot loop. Now I just need to figure out how to get them on so I don't have any boot problems!!

So should I only do the apps2sd enabled ones? And if that is the case why do they make programs that allow me to move them all?

Some possibly work without being certified, but you may run into bugs at best and total fail at worst. You're better off just moving the ones that belong - moving system apps or other such things can really screw you, as you've noticed.

Yeah I don't really mess with system apps just 3rd party apps. But from a little research as long as the apps go to the ext3 part of the sd card I should be fine unless that is still talking about just apps2sd enabled apps....

If your running Froyo you need to do nothing. Just use the system app. If you want to use a2sd then you have to use cwm to partition your card. Do you also want to use part of your partition for swapping (Bonsai)? Btw, this doesn't work with most series 3 cwm.

[Q] Installed 4.1.2 ROM Music Now Won't Play

Complete Edit: Problem is that since I flashed my phone with AOPK's rom and that music and videos will not play. The speaker by the ear will not work during calls and the headphones aren't registering properly (maybe with the headphones). I remember when I opened doubletwist and I got a message that went along the lines of that this is a custom rom and it was missing apis (I forget if that was it or not, I might have gotten it wrong) necessary to run some apps. And I'm thinking that is the real issue.
I have tried a lot of things, please take a look through the thread to see what I've already tried and didn't work.
I'm thinking I need to flash it with a different rom OR would really like it that if someone else who has the normal HTC One V software that isn't customized or anything, if they could leave a Clockwork backup file here so I can get my phone back to what it once was.
Try a full format of the sdcard from the pc or lappy.backup all the contents and format it(the full format, not the quick one)..

Try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it.
Or,Remove the app and then clear the media storage in settings-apps-all

Already tried uninstalling and reinstalling. :c It's not an app issue since it won't work on other apps either.
Try clearing the media storage as said above.
Move any one music file to internal memory, and then see if it plays.
Maybe because its not able to read the music from the sd

Why wouldnt it let you?what does it say?
Last option in my opinion would be a factory reset and re-install the rom.

It said that it couldn't copy it to that area. I've already done a factory reset and the rom, I'm a bit wary of doing that but it might be an option.
I'll come back on tomorrow and some other days, but as of now it's almost 2:00 am here and I'm so exhausted. Good night!
Ok,try using root explorer, copy the music file, mount system as read/write and go to mnt/emmc and see if it copies there.

[Q]Homescreen shortcuts disappears after unmounting SD card/Mass storage

Hello,
Searched this in the forums but can't find the answer I was looking for.
Every time I connect my phone to my PC and use the USB mass storage...and after I unmount it, all of my homescreen shortcuts disappear, but only the app shortcuts that are moved to the SD card disappears.
So my question is- is this normal?
Using HOX-endeavoru CM11 Nightly Jan31 stock CM kernel. Never happened when I was in stock Sense ROM. They either change to default android icons or disappear temporarily and appear again after unmounting. This problem also occurs when I was in CM10.2. Also happens when mounting/unmounting via CWM. Is this kind of a launcher problem? Does it happen on stable versions of CM as well?
EDIT:I get that what I am using are nightlies so things are obviously not complete/stable, but just out of curiosity why I'm asking this. I can always move them back to phone memory.
EDIT:Happens as well after normal reboot
Thanks!
To solve this problem I used SiMi Folder. see this link
Yes, it's normal as UMS turns to make your SD card unavailable from phone side. If you use file explorer while connected to PC you won't see it.
You need to use MTP to be avoid that.

Thanks for the reply. Anyway it only affects apps that are moved to the SD card. So I just have to use MTP instead.
But my problem right now is that they still disappear when I update apps from the Play Store. Of course again only apps that are moved to the SD card.
Thanks!

I'm using Trebuchet in CM11 M8 - endeavoru
In this case, try another one to see if the problem also appears.
Maybe, it's a bug of Trebuchet.

Yeah it might be a bug. I tried others and they work just fine. I'm the type of person to just use stock versions, even the kernel, that's why I sticked with trebuchet. But yeah I think it's time I used another one again. Got any good recommendations?
If you like the stock look and feel, you can try Nova.

On Android 4.3 root is not required to move your apps to SD. Please note, by default you can only move an app if the developer of that app has this option enabled within the app itself. You can check this by going in to application manager and see if the move to sdcard option is enabled or grayed out.
Thanks!
Thanks I had thought that native Android always supported this and it was Samsung that stopped /blocked this is that correct? In this new version of the OS is it Samsung that have now allowed this function?

Sorry to seem dumb, are you saying that Google have forced Samsung NOT to lock out the ability to run apps on the SD Card in 4.3 as Samsung have done in the past?

No, I mean that moving apps to SD is an Android feature which was re-enabled in Android 4.3.

OH right I see, so my understanding was wrong then, it wasn't Samsung that stopped/blocked this. I thought it was as when I had tried using move to SD Card apps , they all wouldn't work on my Note 2 and when I queried it with the devs they all indicated that it was a Samsung thing.

HTC One M9 "cannot save to storage" errors

Hi people ,
I'm on viper one is ROM on the M9.
I'm having a very annoying issue.
Every time I try to download a theme from the theme store , or download a swiftkey language pack or theme , or even a zedge ringtone, basically anything related to saving something to internal storage , I get the errors in screenshots. I really don't know what to do so any help is appreciated.
I have 15GB free so its not a space issue.

Have you already asked this in the ViperOne-Thread? Maybe the developers of the rom can help you.
Try unmounting your sd card and then downloading. I had a similar problem a few months back.

When I flashed a custom rom and changed my firmware it just went away permanently. But I honestly don't know what the actual fix was. For the first month I owned the phone I flashed just about every rom.
Edit- guess I should've read a little better. You're already on a custom rom. First thing you have to do is delete a couple (5 mb worth) of non essential items from your phone. The try downloading SD maid pro or something similar. If that downloads than it means your cache is full. Run SD maid pro and it will clear up all that "free space" that's not really free... If that doesn't work let me know and I'll we'll try to figure something else out.
Edit edit- or you could just go to recovery and try wiping only your cache and see if that works.
