On Android 4.3 root is not required to move your apps to SD. Please note, by default you can only move an app if the developer of that app has this option enabled within the app itself. You can check this by going in to application manager and see if the move to sdcard option is enabled or grayed out.
Thanks!
Thanks I had thought that native Android always supported this and it was Samsung that stopped /blocked this is that correct? In this new version of the OS is it Samsung that have now allowed this function?

Sorry to seem dumb, are you saying that Google have forced Samsung NOT to lock out the ability to run apps on the SD Card in 4.3 as Samsung have done in the past?

No, I mean that moving apps to SD is an Android feature which was re-enabled in Android 4.3.

OH right I see, so my understanding was wrong then, it wasn't Samsung that stopped/blocked this. I thought it was as when I had tried using move to SD Card apps , they all wouldn't work on my Note 2 and when I queried it with the devs they all indicated that it was a Samsung thing.

Yeah I finally figured out how to partition it but every time I try to move all my apps not just apps2d enabled apps to my sd card and reboot my phone it goes into a boot loop. Now I just need to figure out how to get them on so I don't have any boot problems!!

So should I only do the apps2sd enabled ones? And if that is the case why do they make programs that allow me to move them all?

Some possibly work without being certified, but you may run into bugs at best and total fail at worst. You're better off just moving the ones that belong - moving system apps or other such things can really screw you, as you've noticed.

Yeah I don't really mess with system apps just 3rd party apps. But from a little research as long as the apps go to the ext3 part of the sd card I should be fine unless that is still talking about just apps2sd enabled apps....

If your running Froyo you need to do nothing. Just use the system app. If you want to use a2sd then you have to use cwm to partition your card. Do you also want to use part of your partition for swapping (Bonsai)? Btw, this doesn't work with most series 3 cwm.

So recently i bought an SD card, normally 'moving' all my apps in SD was going into my files, touch and hold the game file i wanted to move and drop it into the EXT SD..
Once i did that, i was certain that all my apps were in the SD card but when i looked at storage they were all saved under the phones built in SD..
Apart from that.. all of a sudden it won't let me download any apps what so ever from the internet.. it comes up with an error telling me i have NO space and to delete some apps.. i have 8gb of EXT SD sace and 6gb Internal SD.. so why cant i download a 50mb app????????
I've reset the cache in clockword Mod and in the Play store... WTF is going on?
please help

Try factory reset. I've never had that issue before. I've been reading the forums and the external memory on the gs3 and note 2 among others can be tricky. There are mods that can be applied that help issues with expandable memory. Tread lightly, and carefully is the only advice I have right now

Try asking in the Omega ROM thread then. Might be something specific to that ROM. Alternatively, go back to stock.
did that as soon as i posted, but to be honest im thinking about getting rid of omega rom, i quite liked it stock but obviously rooted.. what would be the best rom for that? to have it stock but rooted and be able to remove bloat ware?

Go back to stock and add latest firmware
Root it
Use titanium backup to freeze or remove bloatware or use ROM Cleaner v1.1 AROMA
Stock, root and bloatware free :fingers-crossed:

I agree.
Also, before posting in the Q&A section, go to the rom's thread and post the issues prior to asking here. Also, Galaxy Note 2 should have about 16GB of internal storage.
And you didn't mention what brand of SD card you bought. You may need to check that product issue prior to problem, also, when you use App2Data, I would suggest you restart your phone after using App2Data. Also, you may need to check your apps' data for any extra data. Some apps may download extra data and store it on your phone without lettting you know.
i was using a Sandisk 16gb and it worked perectly fine, all these things seem to happen out of nowhere. When i tried to use apps to SD it would never shower up with movable apps so i treid moving them using MY FILES.
When i downloaded a music software on my computer the phone wouldn't show up either when plugged in.
thanks for helping tho ive waited quite a few days for help
Apps2SD doesn't work on JB, so you probably messed something up whilst trying to get it to work.

You could try prayer. You never know, might work.
Is there a way to transfer all apps to the external SD Card without having to root the phone? Also, most guides i have seen require windows can it be possible using a Mac instead of a PC, i have vmware installed on my Mac which allows me to run windows XP will this work to do this? Where can i find a good step by step guide? Please help also is there an actual android version 4.2 out yet that can be installed on the device without rooting or anything like an official download from samsung?
Thank you!
Get the official 4.2.2 ... its released by Samsung. . It also had the ability to move apps to sd card inbuilt

For Galaxy Note 2 users who couldn't move apps to their SD card:
Connect your phone to your PC, install and open KiesAir. It will alert you that there is a FIRMWARE UPDATE. Install it and a Google Play Store app called "AppMgr III".
Voila! It works!
They must have heard our cries! No "rooting" or other scary tech geek remedies needed!

It does work but it still doesn't move many apps.
Without root what will it take.

Oh, not sure. It moved all my apps that were moveable -- the ones installed by me. Not the Samsung factory installed apps. But that works for me. Stuff like instar am and Netflix were eating up space!
I bought mine yesterday and still checking for any problem to decide whether to keep or exchange it.
If I decide to keep it, I have to root it because it has same notorious problem which exists on other 4.4.2 devices which makes app unable to save file to memory card.
Does yours have same problem before rooting?
what card are u using

Still an issue with the G3, only native apps can have access to the SD card. In fact I think it's the same for ALL non-rooted devices on Kit Kat, not just the G3.
The good thing about the G3 and S5 is the inclusion of a native file manager, I can move files/songs/torrents whatever from internal to the external SD card anytime. Couldn't do that with the HTC One M8 which doesn't have a native file manager, you could imagine my frustration of having to connect it to a PC computer anytime I wanted to move something, a big reason why I ditched it.
It's not a G3 issue. it's an Android 4.4 issue. And they did it on purpose.
You can go to the play store and download the Kit Kat sdcard fix. That's what I used to be able to write to the external_sd on stock rom.

Unfortunately, it still needs root.
Actually I know how to fix and I did it on my Note 3 and Note 8.
Hi, I have tried a Cyanogenmod 13 on my M8 dual sim and it installed and run fine.
Well, until I tried to install my gps offline navigation apps.
Without full access to the sd card they will not install.
Is there any way enable write access?
Titanium Backup worked with a setting change and ES explorer also has access. But how?
Formatting to internal is not an option.
I am back to Lollipop for now.
Thanks.
Some navigation apps makes Problem with write access
Er? Isn't that what I said? So what's the solution then?

Write privileges need to be granted on a per-app bases now. Try going into Settings>Apps, finding the app in question, and go to Permissions, and see if you can toggle "on" the Storage toggle.

Hi, I would give that a try if I could get the app installed. Problem is that the app will not install as it say it cant find the sd card.
I may try installing via Titanium Backup then fixing after.
What I was really hoping for is a fix like "just let me give access to everything because its my phone"

This sounds like a problem with the app and its developer, more than anything. The app apparently hasn't been properly updated for the requirements of Marshmallow, a version that has been around for over 5 months; so the app developer has had ample time to do so.

Such a hack would be a bad from a security standpoint. The very point of app-by-app granting of permissions is to prevent rogue apps from accessing permissions and data that they aren't supposed to. Compartmentalization is a good thing.

I can see that for 'average Joe' but for me that should be my decision, thats why I would never use a locked non rooted phone.
Still looking for a fix. I am sure it will come soon.
Otherwise happy to stay on (unrestricted) lollipop for now.
Hi,
so the greatness of XDA does it again.
on Cyanogenmod 13 Marshmallow on my M8 dual sim
loaded ExtSD_Fix from twrp http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/fix-extsd-fix-v1-0b-2016-01-18-t3296266
and also XInternalSD from Tasker from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/xposed-disablesignaturecheck-t2789267/
and full access and control of MY SDcard.
Not sure if I needed both of these but, hey, its all working fine now.
