[q] insuff space available <samsung epic>

I started this thread because of all the searching, i couldnt find an answer directly related to my phone and my specs. I currently downloaded RKings Random Phoenix. For the first time in life...i see ..."insuff space available"..i really would love to stick with this rom for a number of reasons..but i cant download from my sd card nor the market and yes...i have plenty space available on all levels. Please help for the answers i have searched are not working. Thanks in advance...<Rooted Epic...genocied 1.0 kernel...eco5...random phoenix rom>

I though phoenix was a GB rom, either way this has been seen plenty before, twice by me. Wat I did was wipe the sdcard and redo th rom install. I probably took the long safe way around though.

You probably are trying to redownload an app that you had before. Use Root Explorer to search your phone for any other files with that name in it. Say you are trying to reinstall the Youtube app, search your youtube and delete any other files you find, then download and install. Say it was the SPB 3D shell, search for SPB. You get the idea.

Thanks guys...thats what RandomKing said...i think i had..well i know i had..2 black markets...which left me with a regular new market...but hey...one step at a time..im content right now..but yall know i gotta get that black market back...my phone is all black eerthang...it just wouldn be right without it lol...thanks again doe!!!

Also guys...since i had 2 black markets...lets say...i go into es file explorer..system > app folder ...delete vending.apk...and insert the black market in there..reboot...shouldn i have the black market back and running with no problems?

i had this also it was suggested to me to install sd maid which i did and cleaned all orphan files worked like a charm

Internal phone storage is getting low..how to fix this?

Got this after i flashed acs ics v4 on acs icsv 3.5. I cleaned cache and dalvik before i flashed v4. and now i have a pop up saying internal memory low.
clicking on that shows 485 mb used and 0 left.
also i cant access almost any apps since market force closes and i cant even install astro to access system folders.
tried moving apps to sd card but that fails also and my go launcher crashes and reboots.
How do i fix this?
Also just noticed.. power menu has POWER OFF only?????

Have you tried moving some apps to the SD card?
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > On SD card

Tried all that nothing worked.wiped everything and r installed v3.5

By chance how many apps have you installed aside from the ones inlcuded in the rom? If a lot you may want to uninstall whatever you can then use root explorer to delete unneccessary apps from "system/app". You also may have had a bad flash....like something may be corrupt. Try to reflash if nothing else works. ACS v4 works fine for me

Use Titanium Backup to move a lot of apps to your SD card. Just don't move system apps or widgets.

Other than resurrecting a year old thread... I've also been facing the same issue. I think apps have been getting bigger, and the base Cyanogenmod is also creeping up in size for our older devices.
I wonder if creating symbolic links from /data/app/ to /sdcard/app would work?

problem with internal storage
I'm using samsung galaxy s2 and recently from past one month i am facing a problem with my phones internal storage which automatically increasing bit by bit and finally after few days it is showing memory full and tried to solve this problem by removing all apps and clearing cache and also did format for number of times but cant fix the problem:crying: almost from past one month i formatted my phone almost 6 times, after formatting it works normally for one or two days and then again starts increasing internal storage..... plz help me :crying:
but by counting all the apps space its only coming around 435 and my internal storage is 1.97 GB
please help me solving this problem...

I know this thread pertains to your issue, but just an FYI--this is the forum for the original Epic 4G... not the Touch version.
The only way around this issue that I've found was a factory reset or getting annoyed and starting over with either a new or the same ROM. Sucks, but that's been the only solution I've found for this issue.

Hello again, I love the galaxy y but My internal memory is only 160MB and it's almost full and now I can't install any more apps I already moved all the apps I could to the SD Card ....
Is there any way to free up some pc or any way to remove that f**king bloatware from samsung ?

I was looking at this one,
We needed a bunch of phones to run Google Authenticator on (so nothing fancy), but for normal use 256MB of RAM is not much.
I come across the HTC Explorer, which has 512MB, better screen and is around 130eur.

try uninstalling unwanted apps on the system like email,maps, etc. But be careful of what you uninstall! This may lead to boot loop. And bricking you're phone. Try reading google docs. You can uninstall it using Titanium Backup.
If you're memory too low, try partitioning you're sd card.

I just partitioned my sdcard, and used link2sd.
I'm on a stock rom btw, but fully rooted.
After setting it up, it worked fine. No conflicts on start up and the second partition mounted fine.
Only thing that was weird, is after linking all apps to card, there was a mount error, and in log on /data for link2sd, it said phone or resources busy.
Reboot again, and it's fine. I tried it, and booted several times now with no more problems. It's just the one mount error. Perhaps a slight bug but it's fine now.
I partitioned my card with the cwm zip skin done, in developer section (madteamgalaxyY.zip works too)
So give link2sd a try.
I've close to 100 applications installed, and i've still got almost 159mb space on internal memory.
I also removed all the bloat from the rom too, that I didn't want.
So if you're rooted, or know what you're doing, then I'd advise you on the above.
If your not root savvy, then look it up, google it, and research, so you know what you're doing lolz.
I know a lot now, but I'm still only a rookie, and no developer by any standards. Just a user who's more savvy, and not too scared to mess up.

If your not rooted, just search the forums here for the update.zip. to root it via stock recovery if you're comfortable with rooting, and only if you know what you're doing ;-)
As if you mess up, it's on your own head lolz. I'm just giving advice, based on what I did, to solve the space issue on our galaxy y.

Yup, like I said. But if you wish to partition your card by computer, then google and forum search is your friend ;-)
But personally, using the cwm zip, on the developer forum section does the job fine. Just search for it ;-)

This list shows which ones are safe and which ones are not. I used this list. I can't remember who posted this list here originally, but I remember bookmarking it. (Apologies to original poster, if I haven't credited you, but I can't remember who you are)

And finally if you want my advice, please read FAQ's in the link2sd app menu, in about section and visit the developers site, as there is a lot of information that will help you further, and will help educate you on things you may not be sure on. It helped me, a lot.

How come your galaxy y has only 160 MB as internal memory? mine has 190 MB.

Another thing I noticed is that it keeps telling me my internal memory is low even when the installed apps probably occupy only about 35 MB.
I'm considering doing a factory reset.

So recently i bought an SD card, normally 'moving' all my apps in SD was going into my files, touch and hold the game file i wanted to move and drop it into the EXT SD..
Once i did that, i was certain that all my apps were in the SD card but when i looked at storage they were all saved under the phones built in SD..
Apart from that.. all of a sudden it won't let me download any apps what so ever from the internet.. it comes up with an error telling me i have NO space and to delete some apps.. i have 8gb of EXT SD sace and 6gb Internal SD.. so why cant i download a 50mb app????????
I've reset the cache in clockword Mod and in the Play store... WTF is going on?

Try factory reset. I've never had that issue before. I've been reading the forums and the external memory on the gs3 and note 2 among others can be tricky. There are mods that can be applied that help issues with expandable memory. Tread lightly, and carefully is the only advice I have right now

Can you try formatting the sd card to fat32 and see if it makes a difference?

Try asking in the Omega ROM thread then. Might be something specific to that ROM. Alternatively, go back to stock.

did that as soon as i posted, but to be honest im thinking about getting rid of omega rom, i quite liked it stock but obviously rooted.. what would be the best rom for that? to have it stock but rooted and be able to remove bloat ware?

Also, before posting in the Q&A section, go to the rom's thread and post the issues prior to asking here. Also, Galaxy Note 2 should have about 16GB of internal storage.
And you didn't mention what brand of SD card you bought. You may need to check that product issue prior to problem, also, when you use App2Data, I would suggest you restart your phone after using App2Data. Also, you may need to check your apps' data for any extra data. Some apps may download extra data and store it on your phone without lettting you know.

i was using a Sandisk 16gb and it worked perectly fine, all these things seem to happen out of nowhere. When i tried to use apps to SD it would never shower up with movable apps so i treid moving them using MY FILES.
When i downloaded a music software on my computer the phone wouldn't show up either when plugged in.

Apps2SD doesn't work on JB, so you probably messed something up whilst trying to get it to work.

[Q]Homescreen shortcuts disappears after unmounting SD card/Mass storage

Hello,
Searched this in the forums but can't find the answer I was looking for.
Every time I connect my phone to my PC and use the USB mass storage...and after I unmount it, all of my homescreen shortcuts disappear, but only the app shortcuts that are moved to the SD card disappears.
So my question is- is this normal?
Using HOX-endeavoru CM11 Nightly Jan31 stock CM kernel. Never happened when I was in stock Sense ROM. They either change to default android icons or disappear temporarily and appear again after unmounting. This problem also occurs when I was in CM10.2. Also happens when mounting/unmounting via CWM. Is this kind of a launcher problem? Does it happen on stable versions of CM as well?
EDIT:I get that what I am using are nightlies so things are obviously not complete/stable, but just out of curiosity why I'm asking this. I can always move them back to phone memory.

Yes, it's normal as UMS turns to make your SD card unavailable from phone side. If you use file explorer while connected to PC you won't see it.
You need to use MTP to be avoid that.

Thanks for the reply. Anyway it only affects apps that are moved to the SD card. So I just have to use MTP instead.
But my problem right now is that they still disappear when I update apps from the Play Store. Of course again only apps that are moved to the SD card.

I'm using Trebuchet in CM11 M8 - endeavoru

In this case, try another one to see if the problem also appears.
Maybe, it's a bug of Trebuchet.

Yeah it might be a bug. I tried others and they work just fine. I'm the type of person to just use stock versions, even the kernel, that's why I sticked with trebuchet. But yeah I think it's time I used another one again. Got any good recommendations?
