Multiwindow or Wanam ? - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Is there a difference between Multiwindow on the Google store or should I use Wanam to add more multi window functionality?.

Anyone please?.

Ive used MultiWindow Apps Manager in the past and it really only adds extra apps to your note's multiwindow pullout bar.
You might as well use Wanam, it will add those apps you want to add (and without a whole app just to do that) as well as other nifty features.
Edit: you need to be rooted of course (I think...I am always rooted)

[Q] Lost MultiWindow ability.... Any thoughts?

Hi there,
My phone has lost multiwindow ability.
I've got the multiwindow app drawer showing, but no ability to multi-window apps.
I've a rooted phone, running stock TW, Nova Prime Launcher.
NOW THEN... I don't know if this happened as a result of the 4.1.2 'stability' update about a week ago, or by installing 'Samsung Mulitwindow Manager Pro' by BJB, 'cos I installed them both about the same time.
Samsung MultiWindow Manager runs a treat on my Note 10.1 which is rooted and with Nova Launcher.
I've uninstalled Sam MW Manager (removing the FlashBar patch as well) and still no joy with being able to get MultiWindow going.
Anyone any thoughts on this?
TIA.

It depends on the type of ROM you are using. Try to install an add-on such as Simplistic V3.5.1. I believe this will solve your problem for now.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm using Stock ROM. Multiwindows should certainly work with stock... There must be some reason it's not.
Has anyone else installed BOTH the Samsung 4.1.2 update from last week AND BJC's Samsung MW Manager and lost multiwindow use?
(As I put in my OP, I still have the Multiwindow drawer showing)
TIA

MW is enabled - the multiwindow drawer shows, I can show it and dismiss it (backspace press) but the apps themselves show no multiwindow abilities - they are stuck on full screen.
**** SOLVED ****
Reset and now working ...
but
Thanks for all who pitched in with their thoughts

Personally, I'm running at 320dpi, lots of Wanam tweaks, Apex launcher with hidden status and doc bars, extra toggles, replaced the crappy boot animation, added apps to menus, new keyboard, Volume boost, DPI tweaks, and that was within sight hours of purchasing the phone. Who knows what I'll get into today.
Honestly I will miss nandroids but with so many tweaks it feels like a custom rom. I basically made this phone into a 6" tablet. I think I can be happy with this phone for a while (kept the N2 for 9 months - that's a record for me)

How did u replace the boot animation I can't get that to work

Lots of Wanam Tweaks, the only xposed module I really need. Samsung Keyboard Short Delay - it shortens the long press delay in the samsung keyboard.and 5x4 stock launcher when I use touchwiz, but that's rarely.
App Settings - changes DPI on per app basis
Boot Manager- android's version of Windows msconfig to disable apps from starting at boot
Disable Clear Defaults Dialog(annoying pop up box when you set an app as a default)
Disable Location Consent(annoying pop up box for agree/disagree when you enable Google location services)
Enable Call Recording
Greenify
Maximize Widgets - by default on lock screen
Notify Clean - can restrict apps from notifications on a per app basis
Tinted Status Bar
Wanam Xposed
XPrivacy - can restrict apps permissions on a per app basis
Xposed Tablet UI - CANT GET IT TO WORK!
How did you get the 5x4 stock launcher. I've been trying and searching

Open file manager with root settings and mount system folder for write. Renamed current boot files with a bak. Label. Pasted the ones from another post in and it works. The files were posted somewhere around here as being from a N2. It's much better than the white crap but not just any old anni
I am using xThemeEngine.

Sketchbook no multi window??

Hi
I'm using Sketchbook Pro to draw however, when I tried to use multi window and drag Chrome so I can use for references. However, I can't get it to split the screen, instead it just closes Sketchbook and loads up chrome full screen?.

Most apps do not support multiwindow. If you root and install Xposed framework the you can use multiwindow manager module to set almost every app to work in multiwindow.

It would be very difficult to brick your tablet rooting but it will void your warranty. I am not stock but at the bottom of the multiwindow tab it has an edit button (small dotted triangle). Use that to see if maybe sketchbook can do multiwindow but is not enabled.
It's not multi window enabled. So yeah root, Xposed and multi window manager are your only hope

[Q] Floating multiwindow?

I am coming from a tab pro, with floating multi windows. Did Samsung remove this awesome feature on the new flagship tablet? Or am I missing the switch to turn it on?

Please!, anyone?, answer to this question!
It seems they did remove this feature. I have the tab s t800 WiFi with lollipop and tried multiwindow plus (Google it) and to my surprise it restores some of this functionality. Give it a try at your own risk as it says it is incompatible with my tablet but still works.
I also found two other useful apps. MW-Pen App Enabler (allows you to alter the app without root to have ig work as a popup or 4 way window) and MW Commander which llows you to add an app to the multiwindow side bar (I believe this one may require root).

Request - All apps in Qslide

Can anyone make it possible for us to use every app in Qslide?
There's an app to add any app to dual window. Personally, I feel like dual window is more useful, but a little customization in QSlide would make it actually useful.

You don't need an app to add all apps to dual window. You just need to make one value change in build.prop.
Just edit 'persist.splitwindow.support_all=false' to 'persist.splitwindow.support_all=true'.

Except that I'd rather only have the apps I want to show up rather than a very large, very unorganized list of every single app on my phone.

Are you aware of what QSlide actually is and how it works?
Its not like multi-window where it just restricts an app to a specific frame, these are floating apps that can be resized, moved and hidden - its not something that you can easily hack to make work for all apps.

Yes, I believe QSlide apps have to be coded with these features in. If an app doesn't implement the QSlide API, then it would be very difficult and probably buggy to externally add QSlide support for it.

Halo wasn't a floating apps thing, it was floating notifications this is completely different.
Basically they were presenting notifications in the same was as Facebook Messenger has its "chat head" feature.

I admit I never tried it but I'm sure I've seen it being used to open floating music app, how about OMNI's floating window feature then? it's also more seemingly work on all apps...? although AFAIK the windows cannot be resized or moved or made transparent...:silly:

I get what your saying, I just thought it could of worked like x halo, didn't know that it was so hard to implement.

You just described pen window, and this is exactly what you can do on the note line. There are a few bugs but it is still very handy.
Wonder if sony small apps can be easily ported across - heaps of great small apps available and they "appear" to work the same sort of way (both floating dialogue box like apps and both launched in similar way)..
I can help developers to add it to their own app.
