Can anyone make it possible for us to use every app in Qslide?
There's an app to add any app to dual window. Personally, I feel like dual window is more useful, but a little customization in QSlide would make it actually useful.

You don't need an app to add all apps to dual window. You just need to make one value change in build.prop.
Just edit 'persist.splitwindow.support_all=false' to 'persist.splitwindow.support_all=true'.

Except that I'd rather only have the apps I want to show up rather than a very large, very unorganized list of every single app on my phone.

Are you aware of what QSlide actually is and how it works?
Its not like multi-window where it just restricts an app to a specific frame, these are floating apps that can be resized, moved and hidden - its not something that you can easily hack to make work for all apps.

Yes, I believe QSlide apps have to be coded with these features in. If an app doesn't implement the QSlide API, then it would be very difficult and probably buggy to externally add QSlide support for it.

Halo wasn't a floating apps thing, it was floating notifications this is completely different.
Basically they were presenting notifications in the same was as Facebook Messenger has its "chat head" feature.

I admit I never tried it but I'm sure I've seen it being used to open floating music app, how about OMNI's floating window feature then? it's also more seemingly work on all apps...? although AFAIK the windows cannot be resized or moved or made transparent...:silly:

You just described pen window, and this is exactly what you can do on the note line. There are a few bugs but it is still very handy.
Wonder if sony small apps can be easily ported across - heaps of great small apps available and they "appear" to work the same sort of way (both floating dialogue box like apps and both launched in similar way)..
I can help developers to add it to their own app.

Hi,
is it possible to add apps on the lockscreen or the google now menu that appears when you swipe from the middle of the screen?
i used a lockscreen app on my Arc S, but if there is a way to do this without an additional app, plz let me know
thx!
There's an app called Launch Now. You can select up to seven apps to choose from. You still slide up like you would for google now but a menu just pops up instead. It's only $1 and totally worth it
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zaW1vbi5MYXVuY2hOb3ciXQ..
thanks, i know that there are apps put there that can do this, but i would prefer a way that doesnt need an additional app.
i saw something like that in a review, and i thought it was a feature of jellybean, but i guess it was some touchwizz/sense kinda 3rd party launcher app

The major ROMs have this feature. It's called Navbar Targets I believe. I know that AOKP has it, and I think CyanogenMod does too. Other such as CNA do as well. I'm sure that these ROMs will be ported to the Nexus 4 very soon. You configure these targets via settings, so you don't need another app.
I really like the idea of some of the features from paranoid android. halo, pie, and extended desktop are the 3 features I wanted to use most on a daily bases. The problem for myself was that on the ports gps didn't work neither did wifi AP or samsungs smart dock which i use daily, not only that but Samsungs rom and kernel are more programmed for the phone itself as apposed to an aosp rom(which means better performance or so i'm told). So what i have done is used a few apps to replicate the features I want from paranoid android on my Touchwiz rom(cleanrom 4.7).
1. halo: To get this feature I used an app called floating notifications. It's not as feature rich as halo but it can display the text of my notifications like sms and gmail and I can click on them to open the app.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2263987&nocache=1&z=4138043767306953
2. Pie: I used lmt launcher, I assume most people are familiure with it by now. If not check out the link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
3. extended desktop: This one is a little tricky, i used hide bar by good mood droid (GMD). This doesn't just hide the bar it shutdowns that process making it unusable. Plus resents must be tied into that process because I can't use that either. To help not being able to access the toggles and other info in my notification shade I used an app called glovebox, which is a side bar app. I put some widgets in it for weather and toggles for easy access. Losing the ability to use resents isn't that bad I can deal with it but I use next and previous app in lmt launcher to help
get around.

So what does everyone think?
*I would like to thank all of the developers of these various apps. The flexibility of android is what makes it great.
I dunno about #2 but the first couple would be best solved with a new rom. Flash clean rom 4.9

Floating notifications is nothing like halo unless they have a hidden option to open the entire app in a pop up then floating notifications shouldnt be there

Right I know that, It won't display the app but my notifications that normally show up in my notification shade show up in the app floating notifications.
Can you do this with LG's skin or is it just something that I'd have to live without? Having a folder full of apps I don't need to see (wallpaper, adobe air, etc) listed in the drawer is annoying. I can't figure out why this feature was taken out.

This is probably common knowledge, but I'm a semi-noob and I'm a but tipsy... but if you root, you can hide Apps with various apps.

Thanks, I'll look into that. I haven't been on the scene since my Incredible because I never felt a reason to root my Note 2. I would have thought you'd need to reflash the phone to add something like that.
You can hide apps in the stock launcher, open the app draw and press the three dot menu and go hide apps.

Does anybody know how to get floating multi windows to work? I've tried installing the multiwindow plus app but it doesn't work with rooted phones.

Hi, The multiwindow plus app partly works on rooted devices but some of its features no longer work because of issues related to kitkat on the phone not because of root. You can still set up the quad view. But you can no longer launch an app as a floating window from the multiview sidebar. (Btw you can do this on the galaxy tab pro!) If you want to launch an app as a floating window you can use the app Floating Windows Shortcuts. If you still want to launch an app from a side launcher you can try unity launcher (perhaps there are others you can try as well) which allows shortcuts and is fairly customizable. Hope that helps!

Nice find. If i reduce the size of the icons they fit perfectly in the edge.set to autohide and your ready to go.
Needs way to arrange the apps in the order you like but good other than that(Lists in order you add them at the moment)
yep, nice find; hope there are more like this coming for the edge!

Great find! And they say the edge isn't very functional.. lol
Thanks! This adds much functionality to the opposite edge and enables both sides to be utilized. I'll be curios to see what the battery consumption (if any) is.
I just downloaded and am going to give it a try, thanks.
I don't want to jump the post but I think since its in the same vein those playing with this sort of thing might want to give Swipepad a spin around the block. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.conduction.swipepad.android You have to buy into a number of different add on apps to get full functionality and I think the buy in is too steep for what you get but if the stock functions work for you it can be a nice add. Right now I have it set up as a grid of work contacts and it functions well in that use.
Edit... Ok, fiddled with the app, totally dig it. If the guy keeps going with it he has a winner.
It just needs more functionality otherwise it is the best i could have found. Thanks to the app developer
Great find, been looking for something similar to when I had my note edge. Started to live by the edge... This brings me that much close to it. Wish we could get/extract a working apk from the note edge. I tried to take the sidepanel.apk but I didn't take... Any thoughts?
Perfect app for the edge....just have to block notifications for it to get rid of the constant stat bar icon. Thanks for the find!

This app is so great. It really cleaned up my home screen. No more need for a favorite apps folder!
How do you get the actions such as notifications or home button working. There greyed out for me.

There is a paid version i think those are available in it
I like this app a lot and I would pay for it.
Du you now any possibility to disable the dock and to use the full screen like on the Note Edge? May be there is the option to get and install the launcher from the Note Edge
I've purchased the Apps+ version and its good but how do i remove the notification in the notification bar and also from the lock screen?

Go into your application manager in settings. Then choose this app and uncheck notifications.
Hold down tap on notification and select 'i' and then disable notifications for program.
