Unit Galaxy SMT800 ANK1 firmware
While working on theming the framework-res.apk and flashing to device. The tablet will no longer boot into the device. Have tried holding the vol down+home+power, Power button only, vol up+home+power. I can not get the device to go into recover were I have a backup rom. Tried odin twrp 2.8.4.0 and device just boots back into normal mode and sits on the Samsung screen. Never had a device I could not shut off and then boot into recovery. Need you help!

Sorry, none of that worked. Can get into the power off and charge mode with usb cable attached. But still can not get into recovery mode by holding power+vol dn+home.
Anyone know where to get the stock tar for nk1?

Hi,
Unpack your original stock firmware and take from it only the recovery.img file. Pack it now in the .tar format. Then load the new file recovery.tar into your tablet in the download mode by Odin. If your tablet doesn't take the download mode, use resistor JIG of 301 kOm as it is specified here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/help/how-start-download-mode-resistor-jig-t2999838.
Finally was able to get into recovery mode after approx. 15 times by holding home+vol up then pressing power. This had to be done while the usb cable was plugged in. Otherwise it would not work. Why this time it worked, I have no idea!

Turning off auto reboot should just flash twrp and not reboot. Then you can reboot into recovery by doing the button combo. Any glad you gotnit fixed and hopefully you can get the theme working
Hi, I am also stuck on the boot logo screen and have tried power+volume down+home but that only brings me to download mode. I can't seem to get to recovery mode with power+volume up+home no matter how many times I try. I also tried rerooting using odin but that didn't do anything. If it matters, this happened after I went into ultra power saving mode (which turned my screen all black except for the notification panel which didn't have anything except the volume bar and settings button) it looked like my tab was stuck so I rebooted it and now I'm stuck. I tried looking up other solutions but none of the button combos work. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried what Timberwolf671 did read his 08:20pm post
EDIT 2: Well... my tablet is functioning but the homescreen is completely black.
EDIT: I managed to enter recovery mode and factory reset/wiped all my data, clicked reboot, showed a screen with Installing applications..., and is now functional! Thanks for replying to me.

Oh man this thing with the framework-res.apk is driving me crazy. Have tired several version of apktool and all the same. Tablet will lockup on boot. Even with just decompile and recompile without any changes. Tried several of the old tricks of copy the signature and resources to the recompiled apk and it doesn't work either. Have one more trick to try but not today. After having to restore a backup rom 3 times I am done for day.
You have to downlad Odin 3 (and other files you will need like OPS and md5 files) just run it as administrator and make sure u checked one package, auto reboot and protect OPS.When it finish your device will probably work

EDIT: Forgot to mention that first thing I tried after rebooting to the stuck logo was repeat what I did to get it to function but that only went to a screen that said Installing updates with a blue percentage.
Unfortunately I spoke too soon. My homescreen was completely black after the usual new tablet set-up (notification/menu was fine, even multi window bar OK) so I tried rebooting it again and now I'm back to first base, stuck on the logo. Sigh. Currently downloading the xra firmware to flash it and see how that goes.

I make only a few changes in the decompile. Maybe 15 or so pngs and 1 color value in the colors.xml. Compiled and locked up on Samsung screen. Samething for decompile and recompile without any changes. Tried 2 versions of apktool, still have beta 3r to try. My appt.exe is dated 1/13/2013. The only left to do is decompile, edit all the images. Recompile since there are no errors during the process. Then unzip the folders to the desktop, drag and drop all the pngs in each folder to the original systemui.apk. This will work or has worked for those apk's that could not be edited in the past. I am open to anyone has something else to suggest.

I belive that method should work i guess. Um if I am correct, discreet blue theme flashes over the modified folders with the pngs and all that. I think it replaces the old stuff in the systemui and puts in the new one but the apk stays the same just with custom pngs inside of it. Thats my idea on how it works I guess.

Recovery mode as I always enter it:
Hold vol up + home + power for 5 seconds.
For some people it seems quite hard to understand how to get their phones in recovery mode. Don't know or you are one of them, but just give it a try

Don't forget to restore your product code!
I flashed JPC using kies and back to JM5 using Odin and everything works fine. What is the need for changing the product code? Maybe it's location specific? I am in India.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
When you flashed to JPC the registry hack for Kies changed your product code. Now it's I9000xxxKOR or something like that, where KOR should be something else depending on where you bought your phone. You can find instructions at the bottom of the startpost from the announcement of JM7.
Hi Guys -
First time android user and attempted rooting using the odin method. I followed the instruction listed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311194 to the "T" before starting. I was doing alright until after flashing the recovery-cwm-hercules.tar, then it gets weird. It didn't flash to recovery but just rebooted to the main screen (where I could see the background picture with the locker pattern), then it immediately shuts off and the cycle begins again.
The weird thing is that I can't even access recovery mode (hold vol. up+down+power), because I'll see the Clockworkmod logo then it flickers and reboot itself. This happens every time I attempted recovery mode.
My attempts to fix it:
1. I flashed the recovery, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315390, to see if it makes any difference. The same story happens with loading to main screen w/locker then it reboots itself again and again. Sometimes I'll be lucky to input the pattern but before soon it will reboot itself again. Same thing with recovery mode as described above.
2. Flashing the stock kernel provided by http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311229 to see if it does anything. Nope, same story for both recovery mode/home screen.
3. The insecure kernel, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320946. Same story. nope, nope.
4. Tried these in all order and permutation. Nada.
5. Tried it both ways using samsung driver/kies.
6. Tried it both ways with/without SIM card.
7. Battery is fully charged when attempting any flashing.
8. All the above in my second computer to no avail.
I'm sorry if this might come across as long winded but I just want you guys to get the full picture. I would really appreciate it if you guys could offer any solutions or advice on how to correct this problem. Please be gentle with this first time android user haha, thanks in advance man.
Manually boot into recovery (vol up/down keys) and make a backup (be sure to do this). Then try wipe data/factory reset through recovery. Sounds like a ROM issue not a hardware issue
First off, thanks roman for the quick reply. That's the thing I can't get to recovery manually with the button combinations. When I do that it gives me this message:
[Picture]White dropbox/mail box with a yellow arrow pointing to the Android
"Verifying internal mmc block
Checksum confirmation check (0)
No need checksum confirmation already exceuted
#manual mode#"
It would then reboot and goes to the screen with the locker then immediately repeats that cycle. It doesn't have any wipe options/restart now/etc.
No way to power it down except with battery removal. I've attempted what you suggested many times too to no avail.

Ok, so if it actually boots into the ROM but reboots, try rebooting to recovery from adb -- "adb reboot recovery"
think it's a no go . i tried using adb recovery method and the same thing would occur, it would restart and seems to load into recovery mode but then I would only see the logo, then it flickers and restart itself.
then the vicious cycle of loading up to the screen-locker and restarting itself begins. guess this is the smartphone version of being friend-zoned.
Have you tried taking battery out then back in and while holding volume up/down plug it back into computer? That has never failed to get me into d/l mode. Man I hope you get it working.
Yeah I tried that and getting to download mode is not the problem. just that recovery mode doesn't boot properly in that it would restarts itself. and when i boot normally to screen, i would see the locker and background picture then within 3 secs, it would restart itself.
Guess last resort is to go to t-mobile store, play dumb, and get samsung on it. only problem is that i worry about the flash rom counter # since mine is like 10 already (my attempts to address this problem). Let's hope those tmobile reps aren't that tech savvy.
Thanks for all the help fellas, great early posting experiences so far.
I'm sorry I've read your post..and i'm confuse, if you're able to go into download mode, then why could you just start Odin and flash the recovery again. If its unsuccessful then check the MD5 to see if you have a bad download. I think you should download the recoveries files again add give Odin another shot..Good luck..

I understand that but that's the a big problem. If I could go to CW it would be a different story but I can't go into CW recovery. I would be able to see the logo CWR and the version number then immediately it shuts off again and reboot. Happens every time without fail.

did you let go of holding the vol+ & vol- buttons as soon as you see the blue text in CWR ?
it can easily reboot by accident when holding those buttons and hitting power, but the buttons are so responsive it selected the first option to reboot the phone by accident a couple of times on me
I'm positive that I held it properly and long enough. I never got to the blue text, just the CWR logo showing then turns off (like you shutting off a tv) and reboots itself. Trying to flash it again with Odin didn't work either and I tried the recoveries from different sources as well.
I went to the Tmobile store today and seems like they'll mail me a replacement then I'll return my current one to them. Only thing is stocking/processing fee but it's a small price to pay if it resolves everything.
glad they will give you another one..
Dude if you can get into download mode then it can most likely be fixed by flashing stock through odin. This would save you some $$. Just saying.

Dude, I understand that it should but it's not. I've flashed the stock recovery for more than 10 times and I still can't past the home screen. It would just reboot itself in less than 3 sec. And I'm positive I flashed it properly. Believe me I don't want to spend extra money if I don't have too.
Alright, so I have an i-747 (AT&T GS3) running AOKP Jellybean (8.28 build) with the KT747 kernel. I just tried to install Chainfire 3D using the automated installer, and when the phone rebooted, it stuck at the Samsung Galaxy S3 logo until I pulled battery. So I tried rebooting into CWM - same problem. And again with download mode. Even after pulling the battery for a good 5 minutes, nothing works. Am I bricked, or is there some fix for this?
If you can get into CWM your not bricked. If you haven't backed up your phone there is a good chance you will have to start fresh. Its always a wise decision to do a nandroid backup via cwm before doing anything major. Including installing chainfire.
Have you tried wipe/factory reset in CWM?

Yeah, I made a nandroid just this afternoon, but I can't actually boot into CWM at all. As in, I turn on the phone (power+home+volume up), it gets to the Galaxy S3 logo and just hangs there. If I could get into CWM (or download mode) this would be about a 10 minute fix, but I'm kind of out of luck here.
Huh. After another battery pull, it let me boot into download mode. I'm gonna try to reflash to stock and hope for the best.

Curious?
I know its technically "Solved" but does anyone have any idea why this is happening? I have a Verizon GS3 and it's happening to me. I try to boot and it vibrates once and doesn't turn on. Recovery does the same thing. But going into Download mode works. Odin back to stock as we speak but I'm just curious what went wrong. I just did a clean install of a rom, set it all up (working at the time), set it down for the night and woke up to it like this.

Same thing happned to me but your not bricked. You can get into bolth download and boot mode easy
Here is how you do it.
RECOVERY MODE
Unplug the USB cable.
Shut down the phone.
Hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME UP' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 5 seconds to enter Recovery Mode.
[edit]Download Mode
Save that somewhere. Make sure do it right. I got stuck also and thought I couldn't get into recovery but I had to do it right (it hit recovery mode first try) I have learned that most people do it slightly wrong. Make sure follow directions
Download mode
Unplug the USB cable.
Shut down the phone.
Hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME DOWN' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 2 seconds until a WARNING! Screen appears. Press the 'VOLUME UP' button to enter Download Mode.
To get out of Download Mode, simply press and hold the power button until the phone restarts
if helps hit thanks.
Just save that to a text file somewhere
I have also soft bricked when I deleted my rom once on accident. I dunno how I did it but I would get stuck at the TWRP screen. It wouldn't go to download or anything however when I plugged it into odin it saw it .... I even had a soft brick when screen went black from a bad boot animation and same thing.. and I had one bad soft brick where it took about 100 trys to get it into download mode (black screen) but odin detected it. I spent like 4 hours working on it.
I think
1. People don't follow directions correct (they do it a little wrong) which is enough if your phones messed up for it not to work.
when your phones normal it can get into recovery or download easy but when its sick you got to do it perfect.
2. I think something wrong with the phones (my s2 never had any issues in 2 years of owning it) S3 has tons of issues from usb, to bluetooth, to these soft bricks I have had)
3. Roms play a big part
4. I also think the way storage works in this new phone causes lots issues I dunno why just what I think
anyway Like I said now when I have a isssue I open text and read it and make sure I do it right and 95 percent of the time it was my fault I wasn't doing it right. K just my thoughts
when i try this on my verzion s3 it wont load back into the CWM after installed to finish rooting. it just goes back into the android system recovery. tried it about 10 times and nothing different

Oh man. You're not the only one.
This happened to me yesterday. I had to flash back to stock. Now, I am about to root again. Good luck, mate.
This seems to happen with Goo everytime there's a new version of TWRP. I have read that the easiest fix is to flash the TWRP tar file with Odin. Every post I have read, said that everything was fine after that. Sounds like Goo doesn't mess with anything but the recovery in those cases. I used this fix once when I flashed a recovery zip that didn't work.
As of date. It appears Goomanager is the culprit.
I installed openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-hercules.tar using odin since goo obviously doesn't work... but I can't seem to boot past the teamwin screen... any pointers?

GooManager updated me to 2.6.3.0, now when I reboot, I see Samsung splash screen for a few seconds and then a black screen of death, won't boot, won't go into download mode no matter what I do. tried rebooting with both vol keys pressed down, tried holding vol keys down while inserting usb cable, tried rebooting while holding the down volume key, tried rebooting holding vol keys and power then releasing power. Nothing works. If anyone can help me get into downlaod mode, I'd appreciate. From there, I can revert back to 2.6.1.0
if you cannot go to download mode, you need USB Jig, check it here:
http://www.diygadget.com/samsung-galaxy-s-i9000-s2-i9100-download-mode-usb-jig.html
Use USB jig to get into download, then follow the 2 photos I pasted at the 1st post to Odin 2.6.1.0

In case you missed it. You have to remove the battery. (it would be nice if this helps your problem)

Jig not working either
So, as mentioned before, GooManager updated me to TWRP 2.6.3.0, and now I can't boot past samsung splash screen. No method I used would get me to download mode so I took the advice in the thread and bought a USB Jig. Even removing the battery and leaving it out for 2 minutes and then reinserting it, followed by inserting the jig in the charger port and waiting, and nothing happens. Turning the device on with the jig in the port also does nothing but a quick flash of the splash screen logo and then darkness forever. Definitely doesn't bring up download mode or any kind of yellow triangle. Anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? You'd think that as long as I can get to the samsung logo screen that there would be some way to recover this device and that I'm no hard bricked. Other people have managed to recover from the GooManger TWRP 2.6.3.0 issue, so why can't I?
shot my USB jig came in today & can't get it into to download mode at all NO
gata love odin it saves you every time
Lineage /Oreo was installed thru TWRP 3.xxx, running fine but unhappy , no Viper4Android , so I installed it as a module on Magisk,
after installing the driver, was ask to reboot as directed, but went into bootloop , stuck on a boot loop " Set Warranty Bit : kernel " top left corner and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 on screen ; I tried Vol Up +Home+ power combo and all other combi I could think but no luck , Odin wont recognize my phone, tried Samsung 300k tool with no luck, I fell like a newbie after using so many ROMs on all of my devices, I google how to get back to download mode but no luck, I need help to make my Samsung note 3 work again, PLEASE. THANKS.
Hi,
I have same phone but I'm running Resurrection Remix 6 which is based on LineageOS 15.1 and I'm able to use the Viper module through Magisk 16.3 without any problems. No bootloops, no nothing.
I never would have guessed that a sound mod could brick the device to the point that the buttons no longer function. Hopefully other users will chime in and help you fix it.
Best of luck.
EDIT: Try taking the battery out to force it to shut down and then try the recovery/download mode technique again. Sometimes, it'll end up in a bootloop and the buttons will be become unresponsive. I know it may seem a bit strange, but that scenario is entirely possible given the age of the device.

I did tried RR 6, but I had trouble with 1.) power Button menu option, screenshot/screen record , 2.) Viper4Android , a must have on all my Android devices, and last 3.) latest Android version , if I dont get the first 2 obsession , that's when I switched to a different ROM (LOL), but seriously , all I need is to get HELP to get back to download mode again, Vol Up + Home + Power, did that for 2 days approaching the 3rd day (LOL). HEEEELLLLLPPPPPPP.
Isn't download mode volume down + home + power?

You need to take the battery out to force it out of the bootloop then push volume DOWN, home & power.

Sorry, I mean Vol down but no luck.
You may have to try a USB jig to get into download mode.

Can you also not boot into TWRP by holding Home+PWR+Volume up? If so you can boot to Download Mode from there.

The jig that I bought didnt do anything so I make my own, I can go to download mode now, installed this ROM/firmware N900TUVUCNB4_N900TTMBCNB4_N900TUVUCNB4_HOME.tar.md5 succesfully but wont go pass beyond the tmobile logo, tried a few more firmware and lately this N900TUVUFOL1 and also , am stuck to Tmobile logo, anybody knows which firmware would likely bring my note 3 back to life, thanks in advance.:
Try this:
Uncheck everything in Odin except f reset time. Flash the latest ROM again. When you see the word "reset" in the status WIndow, remove the USB cable from the phone, remove the battery, replace battery, boot into recovery mode using buttons, factory wipe, and reboot.

After "reset" status, I did remove cable, remove batt and boot up to recovery, the blue light lit up as if its going to recovery mode , android logo showed up but phone boot up to normal but not pass beyond tmobile logo, so I did CF-root via odin , but still not booting to recovery.
Try flashing the entire ROM in AP.

Thanks Audit13,
I manage to restore my Note 3 to TMobile Android 5 using repair firmware , it looks like I wipe out the partition ,My phone runs like new, am just wondering why I cant go to Download mode with button combinations of Volume -/Home/power , tried to install twrp via Odin, it says PASS but Vol +/Home/Power wont lead me to bootloader, did tried CWM , it will boot up but before I could start using it, it will reboot to normal and I could not go back to bootloader with button combo Vol+/Home/Power........HELP...
Download mode is volume down+home+power.
To flash TWRP with Odin, try this:
Open Odin and only check f reset time. Flash TWRP. When you see the word reset in the Odin status window, remove the USB cable from the phone, remove the battery, replace battery, press home + volume up + power.
N900TUVUFOB6_N900TTMBFOB6_TMB and N900 PIT - are the files am using after screwing up my partition( I dont know how I did that ), this Note 3 is running like a hot knife on a butter BUT the only bug I notice is Volume Up + Home + Power ( recovery) NOR Volume Down + Home + Power (download ) does not work, I can only go to download mode using a USB JIG and no other way. I can flash TWRP via Odin with Auto-reboot not ticked , so I could remove cable, battery , hoping to get me to recovery mode but I couldnt. Did I miss a step?I need help.
