Well since i got my xperia from UK, and i Live in Portugal, and i left the papers there, Sony would charge me to get my phone fixed, well out of frustration, and since my phone didnt had Warranty, i said "f*ck it", my phone never had the yelow tint thing, i never let it drop on the floor, always use cover and the screen thinggy. i Disasembly all the mobile, and i noticed that at the bottom, some pins were like bent, and i saw on youtube that the same thing had all pins right.(Sorry i dont know the name of the thing im talking, all i know its the 2 things on the bottom that connect the lcd to something). Anyways, with 1 lil screwdriver, i managed to put all the pins straight, then i mount all the mobile, and Voilla!!Touch was working, i was so Happy man, i would had paid alot of money for 1 lil thing, and im sure sony would say they changed the LCD.
Well i hope this helps some1, if ur phone isnt in Warranty, dont be afraid to disasemble it, u might save a FEW EUROS/DOLLARS/POUNDS.
Peace

Mine is having intermittent problems too. So frustrating when you can't do anything at all (can't receive calls!) when the screen stops responding. Will try opening it up and see if the "pins" are not straight.
Thanks.
DO NOT FLASH YOUR PHONE IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW! If you haven't flashed your phone or anything but using it normally, than you can just go to a Sony center, tell them that your touchscreen isn't responding.
If you haven't flashed your phone before, your warranty has NOT been void! So you can go to a Sony center with your warrant.

Well, my phone has been randomly reboot and stuck on a bootloop like crazy after my niece dropped my phone. I went to a repair shop saying that maybe the motherboard damaged due to the impact and they can't repair it. Wanted to send it to Samsung Service Center but is it worth the trouble. If it cost the same or more than when I bought it (I bought the phone secondhand), I think I consider buying a new phone then.

do call SSC for the price.iv once experienced hardware prob(the ribbon for sliding+motherboard) with my phone(nokia C6-00) and when i ask nokia center whats the cost for repair it,they said the cost is around half price of that phone..at that time of the repair, with that price i can buy a new phone with almost the same spec(slightly lower)..n once u know the price do look out for any phone which u can buy with that amount of cost..n also do tell us what is the cost for repairing it since i hv not found others who mention bout the price.
edit:it was a 1st hand nokia.so in your case since u bought secondhand w im afraid the cost of repairing it may reach the price when u bought the phone
My display was gone completely. After opening it I saw problem in Flex cable, so I replaced it but Xplay does not boot..

Sony service centers in India will not repair the Xplay out of warranty. You have to search for other third party service centers for help. A center here in Bangalore replaced my XPlay flex cable 2 months back. Warranty period was finished, but they still replaced it.
The fact that your red LED blinks means your phone is repairable. Have you tried connecting your phone via testpoint and S1tool? If not, give it a try.

You can also contact Alejandrissimo, but I contacted him on Saturday and I'm still waiting for a response.

My Xperia PLAY (R800i) is dead due to replacement of flex cable .. i.e. technically bootloader is damaged. Service Center also refused to repair it.. They said spare parts are not available but I have only problem with bootloader. My phone blinks red when connected to charge. I payed large amount to buy it on 17/03/2012 not even 2 years are completed.I look forward to solve my problem or provide technical support to repair it.
Reply from SONY:

MY Message:
I have already gone to Authorized Sony Service Center.
Aaradhya Enterprises
Survey No 63 Shop No 8 Matai Chembers, Near Mhatre Bridge, Erandwane,
Pune - 411004
Contact No.: 020 69338799
Above Service Center is not given in your mentioned link :
http://www.sony.co.in/section/shop
I tried to contact them i.e. on their contact number several times but
not a single time my call was answered hence making me disappoint
about providing good customer service.
I went there personally and told the problem mentioned earlier which
they refused to even check or consult any suggestion regarding the
problem.
I have already mentioned that I have replaced the flex cable, so there
is no need of spare part.
My phone power button led blinks red which is according to me problem
of bootloader. Since I googled the problem hence only software part
(bootloader) only is to be repaired.
This is also problem of many Xperia PLAY users which can be found on google.
I don't argue about spare part
( It can be bought from ebay.com :
http://www.ebay.com/sch/Replacement...16&_nkw=Sony+Ericsson+Xperia+Play&_dcat=43304
)
Since 2011 Xperia line up hardware are a lot same you should at least
provide software support.
I don't need to say that Xperia PLAY is the first ever PlayStation
Optimized Android device that makes Sony and their customers feel
proud about themselves for manufacturing and owning this device.
Please don't disappoint genuine Sony customers by not providing any
service for such devices which have not completed much time or not so
old in the market.
I have attached the "scanned copy of Customer token form" given by
your Authorized Service Center. Hence you are again requested to go
through my complain and do the needful at your end at the earliest to
provide better customer service & faith on SONY.
Thanks & regards

Maybe you flashed wrong ROM.
Try flashing a Stock using flashtool. Your motherboard is fine. Its just wrong kernel and rom you flashed.
Your phones RED led is working so there is still hope.
Charge the phone for some couple of Hours then use the flash tool.

If RIFF BOX Didn't repair your phone then your motherboard might have Short circuit. I tried that on my phone too but having short circuit doesn't let phone to boot up. Motherboard replacement is the only option.
Your processor is good but there is short circuit in your motherboard.
But as you said your have flashed wrong Firmware, that wont make phone to have short circuits. try with other boxes like OCTOPLUS, SETOOL.
My car Charger made my phone dead.

The handset may have water-detector substance inside, which will change its colour once the substance get in touch with any liquid. So, once the water detector is tripped, you'll loose your warranty even if the damage isn't caused by water.
Now if you want to repair it paying the required money, and the company refuses to do it, you can definitely lodge a complain because the handset is within support period.
