I have a rooted Fire Phone that's sim-locked I have tried installing the Play Store following various tutorials.
It let me log in with my google account but when I open the application it says "No Connection."
I'm sorry if there has already been a fix posted, but is there any information on this anywhere?

Hey brother,
It sounds as though you purchased the AT&T version, no? If that is the case, you will be able to install Google Play, however, it does NOT function. Only the unlocked Amazon Fire supports this. Hopefully a workaround will be created at some point for us AT&T users.
Take care.

Hi there,
no and then I notice, that there are Apps out there in the Market which might be interesting and are only available in the US but not for people living in other countries (in my case it's germany). My question is: is there any possibility to get access to this Apps without changing the product code, as this would lead to a full factory reset each time the product code is changed. I tried to find websites which provide the physical .apks for download and subsequent installation as a third party app, but with no luck for the apps i am interested in.
Thanks in advance informations that might help!
No one? I too am seeking a solution. Market Enabler didn't work for me.
Try this:

Thanks for the link miro666. Unfortunately my phone is not rooted till know, but I will do that this evening and directly install this app. Following the link and searching on the net I found no information, wether MarketAccess could be theoretically dangerous in terms of messing up the phone/IMEI or not. Do you know anything?

No worries. I've been using Market Access with no problems at all since I got my first Android phone (a little over a year ago) and realized paid apps were not yet available to my country (Philippines). I've kept the apk handy in my phone ever since so I can always have it with me even after flashing ROMs constantly.
All it does is spoof your sim card temporarily since that's what defines your locale for the Android Market. You can easily restore the old number through the app or just reboot. It doesn't mess with imei's or anything like that.
You might however have trouble with your apn settings (which is understandable since apn stuff are linked to your sim) if you use market access before connecting to 3g or whatever if that's what you use. So just connect first, then use market access.
phone is rooted (CF-root), MarketAccess is installed and it works perfectly for me
Me a glad for you horst_o....And maybe Market Enabler wasnt work by you, because your device was unrooted. Try now, after rooting with this first apk.

it doesn'tw ork for me with galaxy tab 10.1... and rotted and marekt enabler
So I just recently got my GN with VZW and put JB on it, is there anyway yet I can put Google Wallet on it? Thanks
Not quite sure why you're even asking. Install the apk.
If you can't find it in the Play Store, simply download it from the thermes and apps forum and install it just as you would anything else.

hi all,
got the amazon fire tv, and loaded it with xbmc via adb push. i want to now root my device so i can change the theme and icons, as i can't create a shortcut for xbmc on mainpage, i have to go throuh many steps to luanch it?
now i am being told since i bought my amazon fire tv and plugged it in and right away i did all the updates, that prevents me from rooting it? anyway i can rollback to the stock firmware out of the box so i can root it. i know there are 3 sites i have to block in my router that the box looks to for updates?
thanks guys.

No way back and it is no way to root it at the moment other the hardware rooting.

As far as the XBMC shortcut that is easily solved. Use ADB Fire and install Llama. You will find that it will prompt you to install icono TV app and then it will help you replace that icon with the XBMC icon and link it as well. Works 95% of the time which isn't bad for a workaround.

Is this going to be like my Note 3? Never get bootloader unlocked?
I got a fire tv today at Staples and it was a 201. It would never get to the registration screen. In the guide on AFTV it said the updates should be incremental. It wasn't. It shot me to 51.1.4.2.
Should I just take this one back or will it never be rootable? I mean hopeless like the Note 3.
I don't mind waiting a while, but if it seems like it will be a no go, I will just try to find a another one with the rootable version.

Not for now anyway. It will take you direct to latest available s/w will not upgrade in increments.
http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-complete-the-fire-tv-initial-setup-without-updating/
Yep. I got to the post where it said it did in increments, but not further down where someone said it skipped to the latest.
Guess I'll play around with the hardware mod.
take it back and get another one. Before they are all gone! Remember Apple TV3 there still havent jail broken this, dont wait around just returned it and get another one!
This time follow the instruction, read it first and don't plug the fire tv until you are read the complete process and then do it.
Thank you

If unit is running OS5 you can root it with kingroot, as for GP you should not attempt to install it before rbox releases a recovery first.
im on os5.0.5 (537174420) so this is ok for kingroot?
suggest you read all posts you find on subject . Yes you can root, then block updates but DON'T do anything else until advised otherwise.
I know a very little compared to most on here but know when to WAIT.
Oh so I won't be able to enable wallpapers on launchers such as nova and widgets then I guess
I'm a newbie obviously lol but what are the advantages and disadvantages of rooting a firestick?

The same as rooting a phone but I really don't see the point of rooting a firestick
The only main benefit is being able to flash gapps so you get the Google play store & other Google services however any app that isn't on the amazon store you can just download on a phone or an alternative app store & install to the firestick via adb
Disadvantages - you won't be able to update the device which may stop some amazon apps from working in the future
Ask yourself this question - what do I need root access for
If you can't answer that question you don't need root access
