How to Enter Recovery Mode on LG G Pro - LG Optimus G Pro

shutdown it down - turn off the phone wait few secs before going to next step
hold volume up button while holding power button also
when lg logo appear release/unpress power button just for a sec or two and then press and hold it back

if its not working, it must be, u dont have recovery installed
use freegee to install one

hi
I dont understand
I try alot off time but dont secsuss

Assuming that the phone's power is off:
Hold down volume up button, then push the power button and hold it down. Count to 4 and stop holding the power button, but keep holding the volume up button. You should see the lg logo and then your recovery 5 ~ 7 seconds afterwards. Btw, which recovery are you using?

Custom recovery?
Is there a way to install a custom recovery on this phone? I read conflicting reports. I'm on 4.4.2 rooted and would to make a back up of my system, add zips, etc.

Have you try freegee in the play store? It installs the older version of cwm or twrp, but it's a start. Once you install the custom recovery, you can try flashing the newer version such as Philz cwm or newer version of twrp.

thanks
i do all this but no chances to enter into recovery
can help me with a video for that method

check if u have recovery mode installed
get FreeGee
and boot to it

I tried that before and got error messages. Some people say it worked and some say they had to wipe everything and it still did not work. Maybe the newer version works as I tried this 2 months ago.

Are you rooted?

first just make sure that your device is rooted, download Optimus G Pro Custom recovery (try to search on google, i found many links last time i download it), install that .apk on your device and then run it, choose flash recovery, and then choose reboot recovery. you will have recovery now. hope this helps.

Heyy! I wanna install twrp and then install cm12 nightly but I've read on other threads that flashing twrp directly will brick my phone and I'll have to install cwm first then cwm touch then twrp from there but on another thread it tells me to directly install twrp from freegee on stock JB.
Can anyone explain this to me? It's really confusing and I wanna know if flashing twrp will brick my phone. Im on stock kk but ill go back to JB and try it. Someone tell me if thats a good idea?

While you're on stock ROMs, just use Philz Touch. But if you ever go to like CyanogenMod or any other non-stock ROM. Flash that ROM with Philz Touch, then flash official TWRP. After, you can stay on TWRP once running a custom ROM.

After all this stuffs doing write I turn of my phone and press VOL UP + POWER to try enter in CWM

Man, this question must be in Q&A section. To enter recovery isn't with the VOL UP, is the VOL DOWN. If doesn't work install rom manager or titanium backup (i prefer this) to enter in recovery directly from the system. Use the TWRP that is in the freegee app, is better than CWM in my opinion

Sorry man, for the wrong post.. some admin can change?
About your awnser, VOL DOWN (dont do nothing, my phone blink LG logo and like turn it off, and return with lg logo again.... ) do this until I stop press the combination buttons.
And using your tip (install rom manager) I've installed but if something gone wrong in flash the custom rom I can't enter in CWM and gonna need flash original firmware again and do all the stuffs to return my phone works again.
And I get lost with TWRP cause first time I installed appear to me a password... I never had a password, so I deleted all and install again..
Any other tips? to install CWM.img not zip?

Don't worry bro haha. That's odd, I've just installed the twrp recovery from freegee and use the "restart device" from Titanium to enter recovery and don't appear a password try the simples passwords (1,2,3,4...1,2,3,4,5 or another similar) but generally don't ask for password

power off then hold volume up, home, and power on till you see the secure boot error from using freegee to unlock then let them go, it will boot into the custom recovery you installed. or you can use a root app with the option to boot to recovery. rom manager from clockwork mod works or goomanager from the team that makes twrp recovery will let you. both will reboot into the recovery so you dont need a certain one depending on what recovery you have installed. other than that theres alot of other root apps that will do it but those are the fastest if you dont wanna power the phone off and use the button combo.

the easest way would be to flash a stock rom from the first development section here. i know theres two, one thats just rooted and debloated i believer. and the other is stock with lg t2 apps and features. other than that you would have to use lg foash tools which is a big pain to use. you have to mess with your computers clock to get it to work as well as find log in info for it somewhere off the web as you have to log in to use it. other than flashing another rom or one of the stock ones here theres really no easy way. always make a backup of your current rom before you flash another one, even if you dont plan on using it. things happen and its always better to at oeast know they can and to he rewdy if they do.

similar issue
Hi, I don't know if I should make a separate post but I have a similar problem.
My Note 2 is stuck on the "Samsung GALAXY Note II GT-N7100" screen at boot. Only by flashing a stock ROM through ODIN can this be fixed. When I try to install a custom recovery and ROM on it, it gets stuck again at that screen.
Can anyone help me?

Hold down power button for 5~10 secs. after it stucks on boot logo, and try if it reboots normally.
Or press Vol. up + Menu key and then power key for 5~10 secs it'd boot your phone into recovery mode.

I was wondering if anyone had a similar issue to mine and how to flash a custom rom after that. The only way I've found for the phone to work was to use ODIN to flash the stock firmware on it. After that, if I try to install a custom ROM, it goes back to the SAMSUNG screen at boot.
So if you, jikre, know how to fix this issue, I'm all ears.
This method has fixed numerous problems. Might be worth a try.

If you wanted to install custom rom, if so, you can't flash it through Odin (Only for flashing for Official stuff ). Download a custom rom, whichever you wanted(Copy that rom on externel SD), reboot into recovery and by selecting 'wipe data and cache' >> 'clean to install a new rom'.
Then again coming to main menu select Install zip from sd, and redirect it to rom file which you've downloaded. In any custom rom like DN3, SenSonic they've full procedure for flashing the rom, just stick to it to install it perfectly...

Got you man, i'm just saying that this problem of yours is come with the Andro v4.3 and knox bootloader. First if anyone tried to install custom recovery it get stuck on bootlogo, but that is an another factor you can reboot it manually into recovery menu.
On the end when you attempt to reboot (from recovery) it asks you to disable stock recovery and you reboot your phone normally, that's it!

Try flashing your phone by philz touch ('Wipe Data & Cache >> Clean to Install a New ROM" << Maybe your previous installation troubling to set a new one, If persist again try this method):

When you boot the phone, you should get a colored led flash, maybe purple, then press up or down while led is lit. Alternately, if you have updated bootloader and a compatible recovery, you can turn off phone, then hold power and volume down together until vibrate, then release. If neither works, run XZDR installer on your PC, then try again - http://nut.xperia-files.com/
I get no flash when booting, I've tried pressing power and vol down until vibrate I just get a blank screen. I'm going to install XZDR I'll get back to you
Thx mate it worked I can now boot into recovery

first u have done sth wrong. You can run TWRP try to install this simple recovery installer-- https://ulozto.sk/!lisJevpDG1oS/recovery-d722l-apk
just hit the install button but make sure your recovery is installed !! because entering is lil bit tricky
so install it. now power off your device and press the volume DOWN button and power button at same time now wait untill LG logo appear relase them and press again. Now it will ask you if you want to erase all your data click YES and it will enter the recovery but if you have not installed recovery or the recovery installer showed you errors this will erase all your data so be careful
and thats it!
