Hi guys! I create a new thread cause its the 4th time I brick and restore my phone cause can't install the clockwork mod.
Please, tell me how I do this?!
My phone its correct rooted, and installed the freegee (bootloader).
My steps:
After root and install and execute the freegeee.apk
I download the CWM app in the play store, and press Flash clockwork mod etc....
After all this stuffs doing write I turn of my phone and press VOL UP + POWER to try enter in CWM
And my phone apper the fastboot mode, so I guess the CWM dont work well.
I enter in the official website of CWM and download the last CWM for my phone, but this file is [.img] and all the tutorials saying to put the .zip file in SDcad and try to install.
So, I dont wanna brick my phone again, but somebody can tell me how I install the CWM without apps, from maybe fastboot or adb using the .img file?!
Please, help me guys!
Thx.

Man, this question must be in Q&A section. To enter recovery isn't with the VOL UP, is the VOL DOWN. If doesn't work install rom manager or titanium backup (i prefer this) to enter in recovery directly from the system. Use the TWRP that is in the freegee app, is better than CWM in my opinion

Sorry man, for the wrong post.. some admin can change?
About your awnser, VOL DOWN (dont do nothing, my phone blink LG logo and like turn it off, and return with lg logo again.... ) do this until I stop press the combination buttons.
And using your tip (install rom manager) I've installed but if something gone wrong in flash the custom rom I can't enter in CWM and gonna need flash original firmware again and do all the stuffs to return my phone works again.
And I get lost with TWRP cause first time I installed appear to me a password... I never had a password, so I deleted all and install again..
Any other tips? to install CWM.img not zip?

Don't worry bro haha. That's odd, I've just installed the twrp recovery from freegee and use the "restart device" from Titanium to enter recovery and don't appear a password try the simples passwords (1,2,3,4...1,2,3,4,5 or another similar) but generally don't ask for password

1. Odin this fie, using PDA section:
http://adrynalyne.us/files/odin/cwm_recovery_test4_adryn.tar
2. Download this file and put it on the root of your sdcard:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2056318/update.zip
3. Boot to recovery, either from manual three button method (down, up vol +power) or using something like quick boot on the market.
4. Apply update.zip.
5. Profit!

use at your own risk. I am not responsible for anything you do to your device!
OK I'm in trouble now, I odin the first file and copy the update.zip to the sc card. After I do a manual boot to the boot loader the camera button does not activate anything I can not start the update.zip or reboot. If I pull the battery and reboot it just boot back to the boot loader again. Please advice I need my phone back soon.
Thanks
Update:
if I odin the "cont_cwm_recovery_2.tar.md5" file from the other post the camera button will activate the update.zip but got some error but reboot just fine. I think the odin file made in this post is for device that has the home button on the phone and no camera button map. Still no CWM but at least the phone boots normally now.

Thank you, I'll give it a try when I get home. What is the difference between official version of ClockworkMod Recovery for Samsung Continuum rather than a custom port made by adrynalyne? From what I can gather from the read is that the official will boot directly to CWM everytime rather than having to apply the update.zip to boot it CWM? In any case I'm much more comfortable flashing ROMs and kernel now that I can do backup in CWM.
Thanks again
Ok... I got this to install and I am able to apply the update and get into clockwork recovery. How do I get it only load CWR each time now instead of the factory recovery?
I keep having to use the default recovery to get into CWR...
I love the fact i am finally able to make a solid backup of this damn phone though!

The only way to get that to happen, is to apply a voodoo kernal.
Sent from my space time Continuum using the XDA App.
I have the voodoo kernel installed.. didn't seem to work...
**edit.. perhaps I need to allow the lag-fix to change the partition data first.. i'll try that and report back.

When you reboot to recovery, how are you doing it? ROM Manager can not properly boot into CWM on voodoo kernels
I tried to boot it using both volume keys. Now it's stuck in a bootloop saying something like "miscooperation"

oops, i hit the thanks button >.< oh well...
Anyway, did you do a battery pull after you activated voodoo? You had to let it convert your whole system! I don't know what else could be wrong.
Yeah.. I let it convert.. it booted up fine when done. I then shut it off and tried to reboot and go into the CWR menu. It then boot looped. I was able to manually get to CWR through the stock menu and am in the process of restoring right now....

oh... Well, that's good at least.
Ok.. got it to flash the voodoo kernel again and now all I get is the Cwm recovery menu. Not sure what i can do to get this thing to load an OS again.
Signature verification fail on update.zip
Edit:
Downloaded update.zip from addictive tips. Booted into the red colored clockwork once. Flashed DL17 Root Deodex etc. Can't boot into that recovery again. Been trying and trying.
AWFUL
So I did everything as instructed and used odin to flash recovery. now I'm trying to get CWM on my device going into boot mood. Error message says signature failed and that "update.zip gone" HELP!!!

I would copy the update.zip again on the root of your sdcard and try the manual recovery procedure.
Hey there. I am trying to get my phone to run cwm. I tried both the touch image and the image that comes with the htc one v toolkit. Fastboot installs it no problems but when I try to go to recovery either by adb command or through the phone direct I get the "This build of HTC is not be distributed" message when I rooted the phone a while back but it just hangs there..
Please help. I really dont like having to hold down the power button for 10+ seconds praying it wont brick.
P.S. I did try to install CWM through the normal way on the play store. I thought it would work cause it detected my phone right and didnt warn me. SU did tell me it was doing something in some .sh file. I uninstalled cwm before trying the fastboot methods.
John
I suggest using the "all-in-one" tool from the Development Thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1676686
and then use "boot into recovery"
I finally got it to work by using TWRP. had to find one that specifically said CDMA/Virgin Mobile.
Thanks for your help.

i have said in my clockwork mod threads, NOT TO INSTALL IT via Rom Manager as it wont install properly, you need to flash it manually

^ True, this didn't work for me either, i had to manually install cwm myself.
shutdown it down - turn off the phone wait few secs before going to next step
hold volume up button while holding power button also
when lg logo appear release/unpress power button just for a sec or two and then press and hold it back
Done
if its not working, it must be, u dont have recovery installed
use freegee to install one
hi
I dont understand
I try alot off time but dont secsuss
Assuming that the phone's power is off:
Hold down volume up button, then push the power button and hold it down. Count to 4 and stop holding the power button, but keep holding the volume up button. You should see the lg logo and then your recovery 5 ~ 7 seconds afterwards. Btw, which recovery are you using?
Custom recovery?
Is there a way to install a custom recovery on this phone? I read conflicting reports. I'm on 4.4.2 rooted and would to make a back up of my system, add zips, etc.

Have you try freegee in the play store? It installs the older version of cwm or twrp, but it's a start. Once you install the custom recovery, you can try flashing the newer version such as Philz cwm or newer version of twrp.
thanks
i do all this but no chances to enter into recovery
can help me with a video for that method
check if u have recovery mode installed
get FreeGee
and boot to it

I tried that before and got error messages. Some people say it worked and some say they had to wipe everything and it still did not work. Maybe the newer version works as I tried this 2 months ago.
Are you rooted?

first just make sure that your device is rooted, download Optimus G Pro Custom recovery (try to search on google, i found many links last time i download it), install that .apk on your device and then run it, choose flash recovery, and then choose reboot recovery. you will have recovery now. hope this helps.
Heyy! I wanna install twrp and then install cm12 nightly but I've read on other threads that flashing twrp directly will brick my phone and I'll have to install cwm first then cwm touch then twrp from there but on another thread it tells me to directly install twrp from freegee on stock JB.
Can anyone explain this to me? It's really confusing and I wanna know if flashing twrp will brick my phone. Im on stock kk but ill go back to JB and try it. Someone tell me if thats a good idea?

While you're on stock ROMs, just use Philz Touch. But if you ever go to like CyanogenMod or any other non-stock ROM. Flash that ROM with Philz Touch, then flash official TWRP. After, you can stay on TWRP once running a custom ROM.
So the only way I can get to TWRP is by flashing it.
Everytime I do the button combination to go to recovery while the phone is off, it takes me to the LG thing and says "would you like to reset to factory settings?" and only says "yes" or "no."
No TWRP at all.
If I choose yes, then all my data is gone. If I choose no, then nothing happens.
The only way I can get to TWRP is to go on fastboot, and do "fastboot boot twrp.img"
If I do "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" then it does nothing.
Any help is appreciated.

You can either try this, or you maybe need another method. I had the same problem when I installed TWRP on 6.0. It didn't seem to be properly installed. What I did was
- Use LGUP to go back to 5.1 Stock ROM
- Root it following THESE instructions
- Install TWRP (Works flawlessly on 5.1 and you can use Quick Boot from the play store to check if it works)
- And THEN Upgrade to 6.0 with autoprime's Guide --> THIS one
After I did this I had rooted 6.0 with TWRP working. Maybe this will solve your problem. Cheers
the recovery is there, just say yes and yes and it will load

It just wipes my phone.
If you're at TWRP, reboot with it into TWRP again. Just follow the instructions and deny SU-things, you get presented. You can also flash SuperSU through it, boot up, install Flashify and install TWRP with it - also works great (did it this way). Just download TWRP from the official source & don't download it through Flashify.
You have only copy the twrp-xxx.img to your internal storage or sd card.
Boot via adb into TWRP, go to install, choose the twrp-xxx.img flash it as revovery and thats it.
Now you can rebooter apps to boot direcly into recovery or use the power down/power key combination during while you power the phone.

When you boot the phone, you should get a colored led flash, maybe purple, then press up or down while led is lit. Alternately, if you have updated bootloader and a compatible recovery, you can turn off phone, then hold power and volume down together until vibrate, then release. If neither works, run XZDR installer on your PC, then try again - http://nut.xperia-files.com/
I get no flash when booting, I've tried pressing power and vol down until vibrate I just get a blank screen. I'm going to install XZDR I'll get back to you
Thx mate it worked I can now boot into recovery
