similar issue
Hi, I don't know if I should make a separate post but I have a similar problem.
My Note 2 is stuck on the "Samsung GALAXY Note II GT-N7100" screen at boot. Only by flashing a stock ROM through ODIN can this be fixed. When I try to install a custom recovery and ROM on it, it gets stuck again at that screen.
Can anyone help me?

Hold down power button for 5~10 secs. after it stucks on boot logo, and try if it reboots normally.
Or press Vol. up + Menu key and then power key for 5~10 secs it'd boot your phone into recovery mode.

I was wondering if anyone had a similar issue to mine and how to flash a custom rom after that. The only way I've found for the phone to work was to use ODIN to flash the stock firmware on it. After that, if I try to install a custom ROM, it goes back to the SAMSUNG screen at boot.
So if you, jikre, know how to fix this issue, I'm all ears.
This method has fixed numerous problems. Might be worth a try.

If you wanted to install custom rom, if so, you can't flash it through Odin (Only for flashing for Official stuff ). Download a custom rom, whichever you wanted(Copy that rom on externel SD), reboot into recovery and by selecting 'wipe data and cache' >> 'clean to install a new rom'.
Then again coming to main menu select Install zip from sd, and redirect it to rom file which you've downloaded. In any custom rom like DN3, SenSonic they've full procedure for flashing the rom, just stick to it to install it perfectly...
Any quest?

Got you man, i'm just saying that this problem of yours is come with the Andro v4.3 and knox bootloader. First if anyone tried to install custom recovery it get stuck on bootlogo, but that is an another factor you can reboot it manually into recovery menu.
On the end when you attempt to reboot (from recovery) it asks you to disable stock recovery and you reboot your phone normally, that's it!

Ah okay, that makes sense. Unfortunately that doesn't apply to my situation. I had already been on a 4.3 custom rom for several months when the phone just died like that. As of right now, I can only get it to work if I flash a stock ROM on it.

Which ROM you tried to flash? Can you upload a pic of PC Odin, showing how you flash the phone. Or just enlist the options.
Try flashing your phone by philz touch ('Wipe Data & Cache >> Clean to Install a New ROM" << Maybe your previous installation troubling to set a new one, If persist again try this method):

Hi, I have a problem on my Galaxy GIO GT-S5660.
After turning off my phone, this has gone in bootloop. I've tried to search solutions on the forum, but no one has worked.
I can't go into recovery mode, just into Downloading mode and Emergency Downloading mode. When I try to flash it with a stock rom with Odin, it works until the reboot: when the phone is going to reboot, it doesn't start again. Odin takes his 5 minutes and say "PASS", but the phone is in the same bootloop and I can't use the Recovery mode.
I tried to flash the rom with Odin just using One Package option and either putting 4 packages.
Any idea?
Thanks!
P.S.: Do you know what is "Parameter Clear", "PDA format", "MD5 RAM Check" and "Phone Boot Udpate" under the "Debug ONLY" menu? I use Odin Multi Downloader v4.42.
what did you do? rom manager?
cuz not booting and corrupt recovery cant happen out of nothing, and it are complications of using rom manager on the wrong way.

It sounds like we have the same problem.
My phone won't boot normally (I just get a black screen that flashes every few seconds) and I can't get into recovery mode, only download mode. Tried flashing with Odin and it didn't seem to change anything. I don't know what else to do.

It might have been that I tried to read /dev/stl5 (EFS partition) and that corrupted it. Or it might have been that I tried to flash it using heimdall (which I later discovered doesn't work on Gio). That didn't seem to do anything though, so I'm not sure what actually bricked it.

Can you guys still boot into recovery? If not, try flashing recovery via Odin. Once in recovery, factory reset your device, wipe system, wipe dalvik, wipe everything. Then try once again with Odin to flash your stock ROM - try a one package file (includes everything).

It's happening the same form me... I never used Rom Manager WTH!!! I flashed a lot of times on my samsung galaxy ace stock roms, and never happened this... dunno what to do but this is so strange... can go in download but flash when I flash any stock, stays the same "flash" bootloop, samsung logo only 1s and disappear 1s and the same... nothing...
I asked this question in the thread for the ROM I tried installing but figured I might as well as here... I tried flashing the AICP ROM from MrImpossible and I think I got a bad download.. The flash failed and I redownloaded the ROM.. Upon putting my SD card back into the phone, I could not boot into recovery.. Of course I had wiped my old ROM so I am stuck with my phone doing nothing... I am downloading the Stock Firmware to Odin back but was wondering if there was anything else I could do, or if I am missing something.. When trying to manually boot into recovery, The Galaxy S4 screen, The little blue "recovery booting" is not showing up and of course I get stuck at that screen.. Has this ever happened to anyone??
What's your method of manually entering recovery?
Try just the volume up plus power button combo?
Also what recovery? You could try flashing a different recovery via Odin

First download the ODIN flash TWRP recovery file here: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/jfltetmo/openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.2-jfltetmo.tar
ODIN flash the TWRP recovery TAR file using the PDA option in ODIN.
Boot the phone into recovery mode and do the following:
The only question I have is: "Can you get into TWRP recovery without any problems"?
If the answer is YES then all you have to do is to reflash the rom (install option in twrp)
BUT this time when you are in the AROMA installer be SURE that on each screen
where it asks you to select options that you select at least one item even if the item is
already selected by default select it again. Do not skip any options in AROMA installer.
If you do not select an item for each option the phone will again get stuck on boot screen or it will bootloop.
(P.s. the aroma installer will do the wipe)
Good luck!
Hi,
This may be a stupid question but I'm new to Samsung phones so I don't know all the details (I've only been using HTC so far).
So I've followed all the steps and got root fine. However, I tried to reboot into recovery afterwards and it's like Clockworkmod has vanished.... It just gets into what looks to me like the stock recovery. Am I doing something wrong or does the phone automatically restore its stock recovery???
Also, can someone explain to me if it is possible to manually flash a recovery from the img file using fastboot like you do on HTC phones?
Oh, and another thing. What's this Odin thing? I never used anything like that with HTC...
Thanks

May I ask what variant you are using? GT-i9195?
Then please boot your phone into download mode, this can be done by first switching of your phone completely then holding the power button, home button and volume down button until the download screen appears where you press continue. Once you have done that connect your phone using the usb cable and make sure all drivers have been installed! Once the drivers are installed start up Odin uncheck the f.rest time box and click the AP section and then select the recovery file provided by Sir Arco in the root thread.
If you need more help please ask, If it worked then still reply
Odin is the software used to flash files to Samsung phones.
You will need to catch the first recovery boot after flashing the recovery image, or else the stock recovery will be reflashed once the phone boots up. Just reflash the recovery via Odin and make sure to boot into recovery right after the phone reboots after the flash.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I kind of realized that's what's happening. I've managed to boot into the custom recovery right after the flash and did what I had to do in there, but then after I reboot the phone again, the custom recovery is gone. Is there a way to stop stock recovery being reflashed automatically?
Also, if I want to install a custom kernel, how can I backup the current one so that I can restore it at a later date if I need to? I know how to do this on HTC phones but it all seems to be a bit different on Samsung and I don't want to mess up anything.
How did you reboot? If you select the reboot option in the CWM recovery,it should follow with a question on whether you want to continue rebooting with reverting to stock recovery or not.

Umm... yeah, I think it did ask but I just accidentally pressed no before reading what it said... So I guess I'll just have to flash the recovery again and then answer yes to that question.
Thanks
Yes that would be the correct way to do it.
Hope all goes well!
So today i was gonna try to install a custom rom, more specifically Cyanogenmod 10.2. for my Tmobile Galaxy S3 (SGH-T999). When i went to boot into recovery, i saw the screen that is displayed right before you enter recovery, but then after that it just stayed on a black screen. I took out the battery for a few seconds and powered on my phone. Then i tried entering recovery directly through ROM Manager. I got the same black screen, but now if i try to power on my phone without entering CWM, it automatically tries to go into CWM recovery regardless. . I tried a few battery pulls and nothing has worked yet. Luckily i am able to enter download mode so i can flash the stock rom via odin and then restore my backup from the SD card later. I just wanted to know if there is a simpler fix than this so i don't have to go through the trouble of flashing stock rom again. Btw i am still on the stock rom running android 4.3 jelly bean.
Try flashing custom recovery again and make sure it's the newest.

The problem was i couldn't boot up my phone in the first place because it would automatically go into recovery. I actually fixed it by going it to download mode and then pressing the down button which rebooted the phone properly. I used rom toolbox and now im just gonna stick with TWRP.

Hi!
My neighbors (11-year old) son apparently tried to root their Samsung GT-N5120 with something called King Root(??). I don't know more than that and they asked me to fix it cause (you know computers) -.-.
The problem is that it's stuck in boot loop. It boots up and it shows the screen and all but it doesn't happen anything and then it reboots. Now what i've tried is to start it in recovery mode (Volume Up + menu button + power button) and i've tried to do a factory reset but it didn't work. From what i've read i think he has overwritten those files that the factory reset needs. So what can I do? It doesn't seem to be bricked since it starts and I can start it in both recovery mode and download mode. My computer reacts when I plug it in and tries to install drivers and so forth (but it won't show up on My Computer). So something probably can be done I just don't know what to do. Any ideas?

I think I would like to install a custom ROM either through recovery or through Odin (the one that's easiest). The thing is I don't really know where to begin when it comes to tutorials and such, do you have any suggestions of a good tutorial of how to do that? And if you have a link for a custom ROM (or stock ROM) that would work for this device I would reeeally appreciate it!
