Software update notes ! - Desire 816 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello I'm getting a new software update on my 816 but it doesn't say what stuff its gonna add or update any idea where I can see that
Software update : 1.58.401.11 ( 147.08 MB ) It's only say this update contain important system improvements thanks .

Most likely just bug and security fixes.

So if there was any changes they would have been written it ,right ?

this update has been around for months. If you're coming from 1.56, the least it does is fix the battery percentage fluctuation problem. I'm using it and it runs smoothly without any problems

HTC Desire Update

Playing around with my Orange HTC Desire, it's been updated to Froyo 2.2.
I've just noticed a new System update 2.17.61.3 is available. Is this a lesser version than 2.2, if so what are HTC playing at. and can someone explain what the update does please.
What do you mean 'lesser'? It's Orange's FroYo update, there's nothing 'lesser' about it other than the build number
If you're rooted you won't be able to flash it anyway

I already had 2.2 and I got the upgrade today. So it's not just Froyo - it presumably adds/fixes something.
Didnt it have any change-log when you were about to update it? Usually a window appears telling you what are the fixes etc.. Maybe the Orange website has it somewhere? Mind cheking it out?
You don't get changelogs with ROM updates. Orange did just release a bug fix so it's likely to be that. Just get it...
Still don't see it as a 'lesser' update - surely a bug fix is a good thing? What version are you on at present?

As far as i know the latest OTA update from HTC did have a changelog.. Anyway.. Can we get a change log from anyone? Does it have an updated radio?
Sent from my, reborn in HD, Vanilla Desire.
The Orange update (2.17.61.4) is less than 5MB in size so doubt it, the 2.17.61.3 had a radio update but it's just the .27 already on other RUUs

I am from india and i received the updates on 2nd jan, you can manually check for the update in the setting/about phone.
Today (Jan 8, 2015) I've received the same update ! The Update size is exactly 307.86MB.
I was happy to see a Software update notification as I'm expecting Lollipop Update to my D820, but it is't Lollipop update, it is a update for existing Android KitKat 4.4.4.
Let's hope Lollipop will be our next update

There's no official word from HTC for lollipop update on desire 820.
Hope it will be updated because its run on 64bit and lollipop is for 64bit.
So according to this hope it will definitely update to lollipop.
Otherwise there is no need for 64bit on this device because kitkat is running on 32bit only.

Dont Simply relock the boot loader, then you cant install the update.
Please follow this steps: To bring Back your phone to Factory Settings
1. connect your phone to pc and enable usb debugging.
2. If you installed Recovery like CMW or TWRP, then restore the nandroid backup.
3. Flash the original Stock recovery of HTC desire 820.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
4. Finally relock the boot loader using the following command
fastboot oem lock

+1. i posted here about this.
has anyone successfully rooted and installed custom recovery on htc desire 820 dual-sim (D820u)?
is D820t dual sim? how is it different from D820u? somebody please upload screenshots of Phone Identity and Software Info.
D820u dual china model.
About this procedure:
1. If phone is rooted with custom recovery, its not possible install ota but can it check and find it?
2. While restoring stock recovery, debug usb seting must be enabled, fastboot setting disabled. Then, phone should enter in fastboot mode also, via adb.
# edit :Restored to stock 1.21.1405.1 successfully..

[Q] Badadroid Greenify and else !

Hello every body .. I 've been using badadroid , version ( cm 11 ) by volk ( modified by Gunter33.)
any how ,
I 've been using this rom for almost a week . every thing is cool except the lag of course ( an old endless problems for bada droid )
so to try to improve my rom . I tried Greenify with Donation package , and was WONDERING ( can I use the exposed version of this app ) >>> will it harm my phone/rom/storage ? ...
I hope this can be a small blog not only to talk about greenify on badadroid , but also to contribute as a badadroid users or maybe Developers can join too and give advises/tips/methods to improve this rom in general ....
my phone is Samsung Wave II GT-S8530 dual boat :
1- bada 2.0 Turko 10.2
2- android CyanogenMod 11 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2609560
God bless u all my brothers in waves :fingers-crossed:
And special thanks to volk204 , Gunter33 ,Rebellos,Oleg_k, mijoma, nbates66, anghelyi, mikegapinski, hunktb, autra, Tigrouzen and many others for such an awesome job :good:
Well what can i say , i didn't try Gunter33 version , but I know Omni 4.4 by volk204 isn't that laggy , actually it has a pretty solid performance
For Greenify / exposed : i tried that once , and believe isn't there much of a difference , exposed will keep running in the background consuming a part of the RAM , and it is needed to greenify some system apps
which you don't need to hibernate , or they just did make that feature to a complete stock android ROM (there is nothing worth putting in hibernation in Omni 4.4 )
Probably it is time for you to drop bada completely
check my guide , probably will help you :

nice guide I gave u 5 starts for the hard work ,,, :good:
about using omni ,, I have installed cm 11 a week ago , so it took me about 2 years to finally decide to have android on my device ! . and considering that android isnt official for waves, it's always a good idea to have a bada os to save ur A** when Android goes Crazy ,, plus when I put my sd card ,android wiped all my photos from camera section , so it isn't a reliable os any way ,,,
.... I asked about exposed version so i can hibernate whatsapp and imo , without stoping the notification ,,
....
omni does still have screen wake up lag , and low ram .. so not a big difference .

First rule back up , i wouldn't agree with you in last part , in my humble opinion the actual Omni 4.4 more reliable than Bada , you should give a try when you're ready

If you hibernate the apps , probably the auto sync and push up notification , will not always work

"screen wake up lag" works great with me , true there was a bug but it was fixed a long time ago .
"low ram" , if you mean the available free Ram , it isn't really of that importance , the 4.0.4 version was light on the system , but it had its bugs and the developers fixed them on the next release android 4.2 , if you want a free bug version ( latest bug fixes) consider installing the omni 4.4 , and if you want dual boot , the roms that support that has it own bugs
see this guide for dual boot by BenzoX ROM] [CM11] SD and NAND version of Badadroid v4.4
And thanks for the 5stars

September Security Update - 47.2.A.11.228

Hi everyone,
Just to notify that I got new firmware update 47.2.A.11.228.
It includes September Security Updates... and that's a 401.4 MB update..!
Usually it was more like 200 Mo updates if I remember correctly... I wonder why. ^^
Possibly due to Sony focusing on the same time on Android 10 update.
It was more or less the same with Android 9 update last year: no October 2018 update and 2 updates for December, one being Android 9.
From what I read, "What's New" app is still there, but Xperia Lounge disapeared.
... but even being there, What's New is an empty app now ! When you open it, you have a "What's New is no longer available" message.

But you are more secure )
Is there any official Changelog available ?
Removing "whats new" was the number 1 reason for rooting my phone in the past.
The second reason was to dark theme apps... though now most apps seem to be dark.
Hi,
where can i get the whole firmware for g8441 as normal download? Or can someone upload the 47.2.A.11.228 firmware which will work surely? All downloadlinks i found do not work if i dry to flash them with twrp (different errors for different files).
My friends. I have a sony x f5121. When it heats up, the camera's functionality soon becomes limited and then the native camera ends up closing. After these Sony XZ1 updates, does the same problem still persist on the XZ1? (At the time of launch, many reported this problem as well). I am interested in the Sony XZ1, but if it has the same camera problems as the Sony X, it is not viable. Thanks
sony xperia xz1 updated 47.2.a.11.228 I want to root it can someone please give me boot img file etc

January Update recived

today i got the security update for january. since then, my smartphone has just restarted twice. no idea if the problems like echo voice or something like that have been fixed. hope so. but if the sudden restart continues like this, i'm really disappointed
Got the update as well. None of my problems (see other thread) are fixed. Useless update
It's a security update. Why would it include bug fixes?
Well, it listed an update besides the security update.
And it borked my phone.
"enablefilecrypto_failed"
edit: Attempted to sideload, failed miserably. Gave up and did a factory reset. 4 hours of my life wasted. Guess I am lucky.

I can only hope you will never work for a service related company....
The answer is: because they should / can / must!
Every update is a chance to get rid of some bugs and maaaaaaaan there are a lot of bugs in the first Android 10 release...!

Yes they should fix the issues, but it's a security update. They don't bundle bug fixes with them. That's just how it goes.
We have to hope bugs will be fixed before the model is excluded from support (October?), cause even custom ROMs rely on the stock vendor partition unless there will be someone who will work with it.
