So i have my girlfriends m8 here, a golden one , and my gun metal m8. My problem is that the speakers sound completely different. The m8 of my GF has no bass at all, its actually a little louder on high frequencies, its squshing in my ears. But it sounds thinner and not so full as my m8 does. I dont know if there are different versions of m8's but she is all set up because she thinks my m8 sounds better.
I did take off the speaker-covers. I heated them up and slowly lifted them because i thought there is dust under the covers. But there is nothing. Everything clean.
So hers is sounding thinner and higher-pitched. And mine are rich full with more bass.
What do you guys think
Rma it if possible; oh wait you opened it?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Well its very easy to take the speaker cover off. And trust me nobody would notice it. Besides that i took off just the bottom one.
I dont know, maybe i really should return it. Hell knows.
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD
I think i just found a pretty revolutionairy thing.
So this morning i thought it could be some software-issue and maybe i have to reboot the phone. i did that and nothing changed, still this squishy sound and with no bass. my girlfriend wen to work and came home in the evening when i again started to compare it to my m8. guess??? NOTHING, still sounding bad. As i compared it to some ACDC back in black suddenly the phone`s battery went against 1% and it shut down, i left it alone for a while. Then i hooked it to the charger waited until i coud boot again and GUESS WHAT??????
EVERYTHING is allright, the m8 is beautifully sounding right now just like my m8. so it seems to be some software-issue.
so there is this fast boot option in the battery options, which i think does not allow the phone to completely shut down, it just puts it somehow in a standby-mode to boot up very quickly afterwards. thats why even after rebooting the phone the issue was still there. just after it shut down completely and rebooted completely as the battery went against zero, the issue is gone.
this could be some interesting point for some guys who expierience crackling or squishy distorted sound on their m8. they should wait untill the phone shuts down by itself or turn down the fast-boot option or boot from the bootloader.
so my girlfriend is happy now, i am even happier that i dont have to send it to HTC :good::laugh:
Oh wow didn't see that coming. Glad you were able to fix it!

Were you "rebooting" by selected Power off (after holding power button), then power on again? If so, then yes the "Fast boot" option in settings is just a fake "sleep" mode, and doesn't flush memory, restart processes, etc. (does not allow a true reboot).
However, if you chose the Restart option (after holding the power button), this is in fact a try reboot, and not affected by the "Fast boot" setting. I know this for fact, as its often how I access bootloader (possible with "Fast boot" setting selected, while going to bootloader after "Power Off" does not work under this condition).
In any case, I agree with the above comment, this was not what I was expecting. Thanks for posting the update. Seems like maybe Boomsound process got stuck "off" or something like that?

yes exactly i just powered it off from the menu after holding the power button.
it really seems that the boomsound process got stuck or maybe somewhere where the audio.process is running something went wrong, because even the microfone is working better ( i can hear her louder and clearer now)

So for the third time I've gotten into what the phone calls "SAFE MODE". Three different times with three different roms.
The phone acts the same, but it says Safe mode at the lower LH corner.
So I'm curious,
How am I getting it?
What's it for?
Is it the same purpose as a computer?
To get rid of it I just reboot.
Not sure if there is another tread about it, but couldn't find one.
This phone is a Beast..
yes, even the old SGS1 have the SAFE MODE option
I just never figured out which keys + buttons combination was needed to get in there
it's as you say, like a computer to Repair or remove buggy apps that is hanging your phone in NORMAL mode
it also skips loading all the auto starting apps during startup
Oh, ok! Thanks! It was just bugging me.
I also had the Vibrant, but it never popped up on it.
Like you said I must be hitting a combo of keys because it just pops out of nowhere.

LOL
since you seem the hang of it... mind sharing with us which keys you are hitting to get into Safe Mode?

Haha, that's the problem! I don't know. It's like the when the Vibrant was taking screenshots out of nowhere.
No one really knew how that was happening either, Lol.

Mine went into safe mode last night. I have no idea how. I had rebooted the phone and when it booted, there was a safe mode label in the bottom left corner and a thin little line running the length of the left side of my screen. It persisted through two reboots and finally I shut it down and pulled battery for a few minutes and then booted and safe mode was gone as well as the line.
Weird. I wonder if that row of pixels stuck during the reboot and that is what triggered the safe mode and finally after enough reboots and shut downs it unstuck itself? Though, I dont think they were really stuck as I could move to other home screens and launch apps and the line was not there. Only on the main home screen was the line present.
I dont know, its fine now.
I am running stock ICS Rom.
Hold volume (-) while powering on.

Ok, so this is not my phone that I'm trying to fix. Its a buddy of mine that has never rooted or messed with his phone. Apparently this just suddenly happened out of no where. He can get into a 3 button bootloader but it says "reboot" "reboot bootloader" and "power down". Again this isn't my phone and I'm not familiar with HTC at all. Please help lol

similiar problem
I'm having a similiar problem and have read many threads and apparently the problem i'm dealing with is a hardware issue...apparently... I just don' understand how a phone will only boot up to the home screen for a moment and then go through boot loops. When i go into hboot it will stay there and never crash and never bootloop, it will literally stay there until batt dies. It seems a software issue or something to me??? I've rooted it, tried divers roms, radios, etc. all to no avail, so, I then unrooted. I have charged it all the while off and while on. I have pulled the charger and plugged it back up without turning it on just to make it as fully charged as I can. I have let it bootloop until it shuts itself off. I have left it in hboot until the battery completely died and then turned it back on and repeated this until it would not start again. Nothing has worked, I've called HTC and Sprint but it's not under warranty and I am broke.
I am desperate for help....desperate. I have no money to replace it. I will take any suggestions and at this point try anything since it is not under warranty. If anyone is up for a challenge and project, PLEASE pm me. I've exhausted my knowledge, i've even prayed. Can anyone here offer any advice? I'm willing to pull this thing apart and examine the internals but I don't know what to look for, perhaps someone else does though.
From my experience you can do one of two things.
1. Hold volume down and power until the bootloader screen shows up. When in there use the volume buttons to go down 2 to where it was wipe data/factory reset. Hit the power button to select it and then volume up to confirm. Everything on the phone is lost, nothing on the memory card is touched. Then give it a couple minutes when it restarts and it should boot fine.
2. Take the phone apart, I have seen some that bootloop and its because the camera is loose. I know it sounds weird, but over time with phones being dropped or just the movement of being in a pocket can cause the camera to become knocked even a little loose. Simply push on the camera and you will feel it lock into place. Then put the back plate back on and turn it on and you're done.
i have a a100 with the latest flexreaper rom installed and im stuck with a pretty serious issue:
a couple of days ago the tab was acting real slow and sluggish and getting bad battery life didnt think nothing of it so i just rebooted a couple times and left it alone . all was good untill the battery hit 10% and i plugged it up using the factory ac adapter. the next day (maybe 6-7 hours later) i went to turn it on and nothing no vibrate no screen flash nothing; other than the power button turning blue as i pressed it and it would stay on for a couple hours but still no other response from the tablet.
im at my wits end on what could be wrong and now i got my wife with her foot on my neck till i get it fixed. can anyone help me?
ive tried to do a hard reset with the reset button tried to boot into recovery /bootloader no dice
(also my home button flashed a couple time i pressed the power button) dont know if its relevant but wanna get as much info out as possible
wondering if anyone can help me...

It may take awhile for someone to see this and form something to try, random bricking for no reason is rare, its almost always some error by the user. However have you attempted adb connection to it? Leave it powered off, connect to the PC you used to unlock the boot loader then power on. Does the PC make the USB connect sound? Does the Acer vibrate? Did the home key blink again?
It really sounds like your boot partition is wrecked which wouldn't normally happen outside of flashing. If boot loader is trash then it won't know what to do and just sit there. No recovery or anything else.

it made something like the connect sound but instead of the regular duh doom sound it did a dadadoom (kinda hard to describe the sound) but it was faster than ive ever heard the connect sound before which is weird. the tab didnt vibrate and it seems the home button blinks when the tab is dead and needs recharged

Yeah I know that sound it means USB connected but error for some reason. Its been shown if this thing dies all the way down it wont read the battery correctly and probably needs to be sent in. Before that I personally would unplug it open it up and remove the battery for awhile, maybe an hour then put it back and plug it in. But thats me, not the advice I'm giving. If you have warantee on it use that.
The batteries on a lot of devices and laptops etc have something of a fail safe, if the voltage drops below a certain point it trips to prevent cell damage, however it renders the battery useless.
I haven't searched out much past that if a reset is possible by us, but it seems the pack is trash after or needs sent in.
Since this is a sealed unit you void warranty opening it (well unlocking the boot loader did too) so you can't send it in for repairs without paying for it.
I hope someone can jump in and help figure this out, and prove me wrong.

Weird, This exact same thing happened to me. Used it in the morning and now after work it won't turn on. I had already tried disconnecting the battery, but hadn't thought to leave it disconnected for an hour. My tablet has been running the leaked ICS since it came out and The last factory reset it had was about a month ago. It was working fine up until this. The power button seems to be responding correctly, the issue is that after the LEDs light up, there is no vibration or display. I hope someone can help us with this issue.
EDIT:
It won't connect in ADB mode. It will only appear on my computer as an APX device and since there is no vibration I am unable to boot into fastboot. Any help or suggestions? All the threads I have found have involved booting into fastboot.

I also tried to hit the hardware reset button and it does not help.
If the screen is blank while powered on its in failsafe mode, in other words is bricked, has to go to Acer.

This just happened to me a few weeks ago as well. If you are still under warranty send it in to Acer, thats what I did. I just got an email saying they had fixed it and were sending it back for free!!
At the time I was on the 9/02 JB build. I wonder if this issue is caused by faulty hardware or if it is an issue that was made by rooting and unlocking it? I don't know enough about this stuff to answer that though, but it does make me think whether I should root/unlock it when I get it back or leave it stock.
Also thanks Pio_masaki for helping me a few weeks back wasn't sure if I was even going to send it in until you said they most likely won't be able to tell.
I highly doubt they even CARE when sending these in. They will void for physical damage most likely.

Ohmygod,
Same here, but it's 3 years ago. Sorry for digging the topic. Still no hope? I still keep the tablet and have just buy another refurbished mainboard to replace but still no vibrate and blacksreen still there.
Hi,
I'm sorry if this has already been answered I just can't find it.
My Wildfire's screen froze a couple of times, then the last time I removed the battery and reinserted it.
When I tried to power back up I got the vibrate but nothing on the screen, so I repeated a couple of times with no luck.
I then tried the Hboot method (Hold vol - and power) and I got the Hboot on, but when I tried to navigate using the volume buttons nothing happened, so removed battery and tried to repeat, I couldn't get back to Hboot. I have only been able to get the Hboot screen that one time.
When I power up, I get 1 vibrate and nothing on screen.
When I hold volume + and power button, I get three vibrates and the green light comes on.
When I hold volume - and power I don't get any vibrates, unless I remove the volume - then the power button but still only one vibrate.
I've tried installing the CyanogenMod but no luck.
Is there anything that can be done to save my Wildfire?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Seems like you're in Qualcomm Diagnostic mode. Though I don't remember the solution, some Googling might help

--- EDIT ---
So you wrote your question again in the "Wildfire S" (Marvel) Forums - in this case the much more important question would be: what phone are you talking about? A Wildfire (Buzz) or a "Wildfire S" (Marvel). Despite the name those have almost nothing in common - they are totally different devices
--- EDIT ---
I'll answer in this thread although you opened another one in Q&A.
You haven't been too specific with your problem but sometimes it helps to have all the details
So here we go:
a) did the phone work correct (besides the freezes) before you took out the battery?
b) is your WF rooted & s-off?
c) which ROM?
d)
When I hold volume + and power button, I get three vibrates and the green light comes on

does this happen when connected to PC or charger or not
e)
When I hold volume - and power I don't get any vibrates, unless I remove the volume

OK, sorry for the lack of info!
My phone is a Wildfire, not a WildfireS.
A: Yes, was working.
B: No, never needed to.
C: Not sure, never kept a record of it. It's one of the first models though if that helps.
D: This happens without USB cord attached. When the USB cord is attached I pull the battery and the green light stays on.
E: Yes, I've tried this for over 10secs before.
F: Yes, after blank screen. I installed on SD card and followed the directions. Bare in mind, I cant set Debug or the charge only setting.
Thanks!

That's what I thought. In this case you won't be able to flash any other ROM - you could just do the usual upgrades by HTC
This doesn't sound to me to be a minor problem (but probably someone else might correct me here) - nevertheless - just to make sure: have you tried to do a hard factory reset following the HTC user guide?
- With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button (instead of holding it)
if this boots your phone up:
- Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button.
- Press VOLUME DOWN to select CLEAR STORAGE, and then press POWER.
- Press VOLUME UP to start the factory reset
(errm and yes: this will delete all your user data, of course...)

But I assume you have done that anyway - did you try to connect your phone to the PC (HTC drivers installed, of course)?
How about charging - does the phone seem to behave normal - i.e. if you keep it from charging for a few hrs does it show the red LED for charging mode and the green one for being fully charged?
That's pretty much all I could suggest from scratch. - Hopefully someone else with a good idea will step in here :fingers-crossed:
OK, still have the Wildfire with the annoying blank screen.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a fix?
Thanks!

besides the suggestion of the Qualcomm diagnostic mode (no I don't know anything about that): did you try to power up without the sdcard, yet?
Furthermore I slightly remember that you could do a factory reset using a key combination - but I'm not sure about it.
Same goes for a RUU. Are you able to connect to the phone with the PC?
Really just random guessing - hard if no error messages appear...
Yes, tried with the SD card.
Because I can't see the screen I tried it loads of times, all with different combinations.
I can't get any vibrate from volume down + long hold power.
I will only get a vibrate from volume down + short hold power.
What would be ideal if there's a way to use ODIN PC to flash a new ROM, well that's what I think it is, faulty ROM?
Thanks!

really hard to say as there's not a little information what's going on. What if just the screen is dead? have you tried to wait after boot and insert your pin after a while (I mean try to guess where the numbers might be) and call your number?
Why anyone want's to use ODIN on non-samsung?!
ODIN is purely just for SAMSUNG products

Hey there!
I'm bumping this because I have the same problem and creating a new thread seemed more bad to me.
Anyway, I'll start from the beginning.
I found out my battery was swollen 5 days ago. It's probably because of my charging habits. My battery life have shortened everyday this 5 days. Yesterday morning I wiped my battery stats to get a better battery life. When I was back home my phone's battery has depleted while I was listening to music.
I came to home, plugged my phone to charge and waited 15 mins to get it charged a bit to open. When I tried to open it, it vibrated but the "green htc text on white background" screen didn't come up. The screen wasn't working. I tried what is said before in this tried. Once I got managed to see the bootloader but the volume keys weren't working (as above) After some moments of rage, my brother offered to test the touch, I opened the phone, (as I dont have a PIN) we waited for some minutes and then he called me. I mimiced the answering gestured and boom, I could talk with my brother.
I bought a new screen as I think screen is broken. But it could be because mainboards screen part is damaged (probably because of my faulty battery, voltage wavings etc.) or something completely different.
Please guys help me. I can't buy a new phone atm so I have to fix this

Ouch sounds like a rough one :/ OK so you have no visual, but do have touch and audio? Are you s-off or s-on? You could try to "blind feed" the rom.zip of a ruu to the bootloader to try restore it. But it may well be that your battery has killed the screen. Have you ordered a new battery?

I'm just not sure I can get into bootloader. When I Vol- + Power no vibration, no light on softkeys nothing.
There is no vibration when going to bootloader.
So I came home after being out for a bit and went to check my phone. When I hit the power button the screen didn't turn on. I then unplugged it and the charging LED stayed lit green once I unplugged it (it should have went off). I could not get the screen to turn on. I then plugged it into my PC to see if it'd recognize the device and nothing happened. Then, I had someone call my phone and it rang like it was on and went to voicemail, but the screen didn't do anything. I then reset it using POWER + VOL UP. It restarted and seems fine now... but I am not sure what that was. It is on stock 4.4.3 (I did the GPE conversion). Haven't had any issues with it until this. Hopefully it isn't a bad sign...

I don't think it's as a result of the device failing or something. I also had it happen to me only once and that was after I tried to install a program that requires root, it wanted to reboot but go stuck and didn't do anything. You could still hear the back ground notifications, ringing etc, same as yours, only difference being that I couldn't do a Volume up + power to reset, didn't work for me, lucky for me though it did pick up the device when plugged into PC.
I don't know if it's because of the rooting, or the rooting app or what the reason might be. Like I said it only did it once, haven't had a problem with it since(Been fine since the problem occurred sometime in April).
I mention the rooting app because it only occurred after I tried to grant access for root app, so... might be a coincidence, don't know.
Hope it's nothing serious for you as well :good:

Ahh, mine was a bit different. It was more like my phone froze and the screen couldn't power on. I actually couldn't hear notifications or anything or get them while it was like this. When the person called my phone it rang for them like they were connecting to my phone, then went to voicemail after like 5 rings (like if the phone was on). But my phone didn't ring nor did the screen turn on for the call, it was just frozen.
Once I hard reset the phone (POWER + VOL UP) when it came back on I got all the texts I'd missed since my phone messed up.
Happened to me once. The screen is on but black !
Required a hard reset
