I've been using the Google Messenger app for texting on my ATT Note 4. How do I get rid of the stupid emoticon button on my keyboard and get the return key back?

I'd like to know if this is possible too, but for Tango. All other apps I have give me the Return key except Tango. I keep adding smiley faces when trying to go to a new line! Annoying!
SwiftKey has the return key with Google messenger. Other than that, I can't help you as I have not been able to get the return key myself.

Hey everyone,
I have a Galaxy S III and got a Logitech bluetooth keyboard for it yesterday. However, when I go to compose an email using the stock email client and HIT THE BACKSPACE KEY, the app freezes and crashes right when I start to compose the message.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue? Do I have to remap the keyboard? Are there any email clients that are really good?
Thanks!
Casey

I haven't really messed with it. I know you can install an emoji keyboard from the play store and switch keyboards in your texts but I think you still need an app that can display then like go or hand cent

It will display some of them in black and white. Do you have an emoji keyboard preference?

Multiling is the one I use because it draws the emoji in black-and-white. Some people like Kii. I thought you meant iOS style emoji in full color, which is only supported by a couple apps. The black and white ones are system wide.
Sliding Messaging will let you pick which styles of emoji to see in messages as well as having a dedicated button next to the message field that allows you to enter your emoji without swapping keyboards. They also introduced a standalone emoji keyboard you can download, for use in other apps, but you have to switch between keyboards to use it. If you need ios style emoji access all the time though, best to go with kii.

Yeah, stock for me as well. I've had the urge/need to use 3rd party texting apps.

I gotta tell you, evolve is freaking awesome! I would give it a shot. It's kind of a hidden gem.

It may be good, but I'm always of the mind that if a native app does the trick without issues then why add apps that can misbehave or maybe cause battery drains. If I'm not happy with an app i look for a replacement but not if it works fine. That's just my preference.

Best messaging app on the market hands down. Simply, straight forward, and just the right touch of customization and intuitive UI.

Handcent for me. I have been using it for years. I like the customization by contact. You can have different notifications, fonts, backgrounds, sounds and vibrations for each individual. Very nice to know who texted you with customized notifications. I also like the Oops delay. You can set a lag from when you hit send until it sends.
All these features helps visually, physically and by sound who you are communicating with. Less likely to send the wrong text to the wrong person.

Sadly just using stock because at home I use WIFI calling all the time and stock is the only one that always works, all the time, with wifi calling.
But I do use SMS popup program so I get pop up notifications and a quick reply.

No hangouts
I use stock. When I had the Nexus 5 and the G2 (CM11), I had problems with Hangouts when receiving MMS and group texts.

I won't use anything from CM these days. Not after what they did to some developers when they became Cyanogen Inc. They basically stole work of other people and left them out to dry. I used to use nothing but CM now, it's just not for me anymore.
Hangouts
I use hangouts, and love how they integrate SMS and Chats.
I had a question though, is there any way our SMSes can be integrated with Gmail Chats?
i.e. If you chat normally on Hangouts, it shows up in Chat history in my Gmail when I see in the browser.
It will be very convenient to have my SMS show up there as well, can search, copy, paste, archive and backup easily.
Anyone else with same thoughts?
My S3 is running CM11 nightly 1/12/14 and I can not send/receive. I have went into keyboard settings and added emoji to my add-on dictionaries and still nothing. Any help would be awesome.

by off chance you have google voice installed and integrated into your sprint account? if you do, there is your problem. google voice does not encode them.
How would I go about taking voice off??

if you do have google voice activated and integrated with your sprint account, you need to log into the google voice on your pc and deactivate the integration with your sprint account. uninstall google voice from your phone, reboot and try your emoji. they should work now.
if you use google voice just for visual voicemail, you can still do that but don't integrate it with you sprint account by download the app again, open google voice and you'll be at the welcome screen, hit skip button, sign into your account is the next screen, hit sign in button, set up google voice is the next screen, hit next, make calls is the next screen, hit do not use google voice to make any calls and hit next button, set up voicemail is the next screen, hit next button, the next screen should say you need to dial a number to activate voicemail, tap on that number and call it, it will make some noise and end the call, back out till you are back at the google app, hit next, a popup will say you need to call that number again but you dont have to so just okay. now you should have google voice setup and use it for voicemail and your emojis should work with no problems.
I really liked the Samsung keyboard and I'm not really digging any of the alternative options, is there any way to install the note 5 or s7 version of the Samsung keyboard to get Google voice typing back? Or any way to direct this one away from S voice and to Google voice typing?
I gave up and went back to the Google keyboard

I still much prefer Sywpe over all the other keyboards myself. Tried Samsung's and Google's but neither were as good IMO.
SwiftKey or bust. On every phone for many years now.

I get the same thing as you. I disable the Samsung voice and don't get the option for google voice. Also reset the samsung keyboard and no change.
