Is it possible to use emojis with the stock messenger app? - Verizon HTC One (M7)

I know it can be done with go sms, but wasn't sure with HTC messaging app.

I haven't really messed with it. I know you can install an emoji keyboard from the play store and switch keyboards in your texts but I think you still need an app that can display then like go or hand cent

It will display some of them in black and white. Do you have an emoji keyboard preference?

Multiling is the one I use because it draws the emoji in black-and-white. Some people like Kii. I thought you meant iOS style emoji in full color, which is only supported by a couple apps. The black and white ones are system wide.

Sliding Messaging will let you pick which styles of emoji to see in messages as well as having a dedicated button next to the message field that allows you to enter your emoji without swapping keyboards. They also introduced a standalone emoji keyboard you can download, for use in other apps, but you have to switch between keyboards to use it. If you need ios style emoji access all the time though, best to go with kii.

Did a google search for see emoji on android and found this. I have used this thread or one that is similar to this before. While it worked and I was able to see certain emojis that people were using (not 100% of them), you are never going to get the full emoji experience as you would with IOS. After using this the emojis do not show up as they would IOS but a different icon attempting to show the same emotion. It took me awhile to do this and wasnt pleased with the outcome because I was expecting a full experience. If I am wrong, please correct me because I would like to be corrected on this topic. I hope one day we will have a full emoji experience on Android.

SGS3 CM10 emoji2 keyboard

OK guys! After doing some thinkering and testing a couple of keyboards, I couldn't find a way to enter emoji2 characters into messages app and Twitter or Facebook.
But... then I came across a keyboard app made for and app called Whatsapp (messenger type) that simply adds emoji2 to the app. So I decided to try it out and found out that it also works universally across the OS since I'm using CM10 and emoji support is added to Jelly Bean.
Tested: Facebook, Twitter, Messages app, Plume, and works great with iOS users.

Are you able to see emoji2 throughout the entire device?
Yes! You have to enable emoji support inside the messages.app/settings/extra settings, then you can use that keyboard or simply add emojis by pressing the menu key and insert emoji. Also add emoji for English words under the keyboard input menu.

Not bad keyboard, but you can you free one Go Keyboard. They have lot of plugins and in my opinion works better.
In go keyboard the characters does not show properly and in apps like twitter, they just won't show at all.

[Q] Send and receive Emoji?

I noticed on the stock HTC keyboard there is an option to enter in an emoji, problem is that my wife on her iphone get's the character equivalent of that image rather than any kind of emoji. Is there a good way to send and receive emoji's on the HTC one?
Thanks
You need another texting app like textra or you can use a different keyboard such as touchpal which has emoji built in.

Ahhh gotcha. TouchPal seems like a good option. Thanks

Best SMS app

I've been using the stock app for SMS messaging on my Nexus 4 for the last year. Am I missing out? Is there something better? If its better, why?
Thanks,
Jon
8sms download it on play store. It's almost the same as stock messaging app but with added features such as quick reply option by cm and inverted messaging ui.

Well first i think this is the wrong place to put this, but ok.
Second, you have a lot, try Go SMS pro or Textra sms, is cool.
In the last days i´m using mysms , is cool , and you can send sms via your pc.
But if anyone know any better than this ones please tell us

8sms ftw!
If I use any of these apps, does it alter any of your data? i.e. can I use it, stop using it and there messages are still there but default back to the stock app?
Try Hello from the Play Store.

8sms (Stock Messaging, KitKat) :highfive:
8sms hands down.
I used to flash that app which was then called as the Modded mms.apk. Now it is available even for unrooted users on the Play Store. Amazing app.
Handcent SMS is great, fully customizable

Yes, afaik, you just have to install the new msg app and they will carry over the data. Unless you cleaned flashed your rom then you'll have to back up the xml. But you can do that with Titanium Backup or any other messaging backup app.

Not sure where you live, but SMS is the primary messaging tool in the US. Carrier agnostic, preloaded on every phone, and generally available in no-cost unlimited plans.

Better message/keyboard app

I'm new to this phone I love it but still having trouble adjusting from my 5s I'm looking for a better keyboard I'm using SwiftKey but it doesn't have emoji support. Also I don't like the text message app on the phone I tried go sms it has emoji but there's too many ads which is highly annoying especially coming from an iPhone where I never seen ads before makes me feel like I have a bootleg phone
Also would a root help me with a custom room?

I know the sms app 'hello' has built in emoji support using whatever keyboard you like. Try that; I just transferred from an iPhone too, and once you calibrate the default keyboard, it works really well!
