[Q] Send and receive Emoji? - Verizon HTC One (M7)

I noticed on the stock HTC keyboard there is an option to enter in an emoji, problem is that my wife on her iphone get's the character equivalent of that image rather than any kind of emoji. Is there a good way to send and receive emoji's on the HTC one?
Thanks

You need another texting app like textra or you can use a different keyboard such as touchpal which has emoji built in.

Ahhh gotcha. TouchPal seems like a good option. Thanks

[Q] Best Working SMS App for the G2/Desire Z

Originally (almost 2 years ago) I started out using ChompSMS. I then switched to Handcent, then to GoSMS, and now I'm considering switching back to Chomp. I feel like GoSMS and Handcent are both catering to newer phones that can handle a lot of bloatware. I'm just curious what everyone else with a G2 is using to send text messages these days. What's working the best for you?

Thanks, I'll give stock a try again but will use a popup app for messages. That was one of the features that drew me to the other apps.
I hated pop up messages. That's why I stayed stock.
If I recall, CM10 now has option for pop up messages, including the quick reply.

[Q] what's everyone using for an sms app?

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
GoSMS w/ the emoji plugin.
I heard you get a lot of spam with that app?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I get a message or two month. Usually about a new theme they've added or some feature they've updated. Nothing intrusive, or annoying and its usually just a notification in that app that is quickly deleted.
I've been using it for about a year.

GoSMS 4.37 is what you want. It is available if you search. No spam.

I like handcent...not sure what the downsides are to handcent compared to the others. I did try gosms a while back and wasn't impressed. I could give it another shot though.
I really don't have a lot of requirements for a messaging app. I don't do groups or advanced messaging. Even so, I find the stock messaging app extremely unappealing and not adequate for my minor needs.
Handcent here. Been using it since my original Droid days I think. Just fell in love with it. The only other messaging app that I didn't much mind was the stock one on my Galaxy Note 2, but I've since fallen back to the familiar. I find it functional and customizable enough for my tastes.

Handscent here as well... with the group messaging plug-in... got rid of the Emoji plug-in due to it messing with my MMS for some reason... maybe a combination of the two... Main reason I got Handscent was the color customization to match my theme.
I have been using Trillian since the before android. It has been the best way to monitor all my IMs. Different customers all like different IM services and this way I could cover them all.

Default. I used to use go but it got too bloated for my liking and then they disabled backing up of sms to local storage and pushed their cloud backup.

I tried most mostly because there seems to be a growing requirement for emoji. pffft.
All non stock apps except for chomp scroll very poorly when moving and reading through the messages: go, handsent, etc. Chomp is the only one that scrolls smoothly. However, I cannot attach pics or vids - it crashes. contacting the developer said "fixing hopefully in a week" until then I just use stock app o if I need to send a mms. I'd use the stock app but its emoji is very limited. always a compromise isn't it?
Pansi SMS nice simple interface. I use my backup root to save MMS and sms

Thought I was the only one on this. I've been using bitesms on Iphones for years so I've been so used to it, so when I jumped ship and go with the GN2 naturally I had to find somethign similiar. You're right about mms though, but I use stock sms app for that purpose, so chompsms all the way.
Go sms with emoji plug in. Like all the different emojis. Also wife has iphone with ios6 and stock messaging wouldn't show pics of the emojis on her phone. Go sms shows with no problem.

Just wanted to give you guys an update. I have been using chomp sms for the past couple of days and love it. It's not as flashy as go sms is with themes but it make up for it without the constant text messages they send you. I also donated to the dev which got rid of the adds so it almost feels like a stock app. Anyways its a really great app if any of you are interested.

Is it possible to use emojis with the stock messenger app?

I know it can be done with go sms, but wasn't sure with HTC messaging app.

I haven't really messed with it. I know you can install an emoji keyboard from the play store and switch keyboards in your texts but I think you still need an app that can display then like go or hand cent

It will display some of them in black and white. Do you have an emoji keyboard preference?

Multiling is the one I use because it draws the emoji in black-and-white. Some people like Kii. I thought you meant iOS style emoji in full color, which is only supported by a couple apps. The black and white ones are system wide.
Sliding Messaging will let you pick which styles of emoji to see in messages as well as having a dedicated button next to the message field that allows you to enter your emoji without swapping keyboards. They also introduced a standalone emoji keyboard you can download, for use in other apps, but you have to switch between keyboards to use it. If you need ios style emoji access all the time though, best to go with kii.

Better message/keyboard app

I'm new to this phone I love it but still having trouble adjusting from my 5s I'm looking for a better keyboard I'm using SwiftKey but it doesn't have emoji support. Also I don't like the text message app on the phone I tried go sms it has emoji but there's too many ads which is highly annoying especially coming from an iPhone where I never seen ads before makes me feel like I have a bootleg phone
Also would a root help me with a custom room?

I know the sms app 'hello' has built in emoji support using whatever keyboard you like. Try that; I just transferred from an iPhone too, and once you calibrate the default keyboard, it works really well!

What text messaging application do you use?

What text messaging application do you use?
And why?
I personally keep stuff stock. If I use gpe I use hangouts if I use sense I use sense. I like keeping the same experience and change back and forth from gpe then to sense
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
for sms i use evolve, for messenger, i use telegram.
why? evolve works and has a nice ui. telegram because it's a very nice messenging app that offers both cloud messenging (meaning your conversation stay in cloud as to access via computer, phone, tablet) or self-destructing messages. also, comfortable after reading their privacy policy.

its a secret! I am so sorry.
Textra. Fast and no fuss but plenty of options.
And so it was
Hangouts
Hangouts because I have several friends and we join groups on top of using sms.
Hangouts still remains sluggish, though the interface is admittedly nice.
Recently, I've been trying out Hello SMS and like it a lot. Fast, sleek and very pretty to look at.
The real question is WHEN IS HANGOUTS incorporating Google Voice?!
Textra the best of them all

I use stock. I like how it looks like traditional online forums, where other's "posts" are highlighted and your reply to them is down there line by line, if you know what i mean.
