My S3 is running CM11 nightly 1/12/14 and I can not send/receive. I have went into keyboard settings and added emoji to my add-on dictionaries and still nothing. Any help would be awesome.

by off chance you have google voice installed and integrated into your sprint account? if you do, there is your problem. google voice does not encode them.
How would I go about taking voice off??

if you do have google voice activated and integrated with your sprint account, you need to log into the google voice on your pc and deactivate the integration with your sprint account. uninstall google voice from your phone, reboot and try your emoji. they should work now.
if you use google voice just for visual voicemail, you can still do that but don't integrate it with you sprint account by download the app again, open google voice and you'll be at the welcome screen, hit skip button, sign into your account is the next screen, hit sign in button, set up google voice is the next screen, hit next, make calls is the next screen, hit do not use google voice to make any calls and hit next button, set up voicemail is the next screen, hit next button, the next screen should say you need to dial a number to activate voicemail, tap on that number and call it, it will make some noise and end the call, back out till you are back at the google app, hit next, a popup will say you need to call that number again but you dont have to so just okay. now you should have google voice setup and use it for voicemail and your emojis should work with no problems.

I need help please. I always use Google Voice just for my voicemails only. Just got my Nexus last night, set it up GV like I always do.
Missed a clients call this morning, and checked Google Voice and nothing, but there is a recorder icon in the notification bar, that would take me into some dial up phone voicemail ? Who the **** uses that in the 21st century.
Anyways, what's the deal here ?
Thank you.

follow this to make sure your number is correctly forwarding to your GV voicemail:
http://www.marketing.fm/2009/05/14/use-google-voice-without-changing-your-number/
Scroll down to the carrier number forwarding
Go into dialer, settings and set your voice mail to Google voice.

Thanks, tried that but some error came up, said my carrier does not support it ? That's not right.
I did just switch from Sprint to Verizon last night, could there be an issue there ?

Log in to voice.google.com and see your number. Or go into the Google Voice app and go to Settings. It will have an entry "My Google Voice Number" that lists your number.

Yes, you have to hook your number onto Google Voice via the website. It will usually entail your GV number calling your actual number and you pressing two buttons on the phone and then it will be connected.. Always how it's been on Verizon

Did you check your sent, outgoing box? I don't think Google Voice is updated to work with Jelly Bean yet. At least the voice part of it...
Yeah its not in the outgoing either

And I just hard reset and its still not working. I don't know what the hell is going on!

Same here, reported it to google a little while ago, only seems to affect GV, the normal messaging app works just fine
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=34175
also, typing 'send text to <contact>' into the search box then selecting GV does send the message, it's just the speaking the command part that doesn't seem to work.
Justin
Well I wish I had seen your post before I hard reset but at least now I know it won't fix it. Thanks for your help hope it gets fixed soon

Hey guys, I also have another issue with Google Now Voice Search. When I ask for weather forecast, it always returns result for Washington DC although my current location is Dallas, TX. The weather card in Google Now main screen displays the correct location, though. Anyone has the same problem?
P/s: I managed to get OTA update to JB 4.1.1 by doing the clear framework trick and restarting my phone several times, does that have anything to do with the above issue? Thanks!!!
is google doing anything to solve this problem ??
I haven't seen any updates to google voice app lately
Is anyone else having trouble using Google Voice as their voicemail provider? I don't care about the rest of the features of it, I have just always used Voice for VM, but each time I attempt to set it up, I get "Could not retrieve and save current forwarding number settings" error. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling/taking myself through the wizard again, but I get the same thing every time. I do not like AT&T Messages even though it has the same basic features, as it tries to take over my entire phone (like AT&T likes to do).
Yeah, the Google Voice app failed to register it as the new voice mail provider for me too. Try to activate it in the dialer instead. Dial *004*1(then your 10 digit number) and last press # then enter (call). That should do it.

Awesome. Thanks, guys. It still does not go to Google Voice when I press and hold the voicemail button. Is that because it's still set up as "my carrier" in settings? I called myself and it worked to go to GV instead, so I'm happy about that. Still can't get the settings to change. Think it's possible to do or just be happy it's working as is?
Try changing the voice mail number in voice mail settings to your gv number

Hmm... so simple. It works. Thanks. Still says My Carrier, but oh well, everything works as it should.
I'm using m.o.a.r mb1 rom and have never used sprints voicemail app. I use Google voice, and have always wanted to completely remove the button from the dialer. I freeze the stock voicemail app and if I ever accidentally hit the vm button it force closes the dialer, so what would I need to do to remove it or remap it to open Google voice or another voicemail app.

The dialer issue isn't a shortcut to an app. So I am not sure how to make it open gv, but to stop the FC...open your dialer, hit the menu key and go and edit your speed dial settings. That's what is triggering the stock VM.
All Battery results are on a 6300mah battery, unless otherwise noted!
Anyone knows how get rid of voicemail notification?
I know in apps/phone/clear data
but after restart its back..
I'm on prepaid with voicemail not active.

I can, but the icon is still there
Call in to your voice mail on the dialer and delete the voice message. Press 7 while listening to the voice message. Once done then set up your preferred voice mail app. I use Google voice

I had this issue on the Galaxy S3 when I first got it with a phantom voicemail icon that never went away despite not having any voicemails. I solved it by getting someone to leave me another voicemail and then deleting it. Might work for you as well.
After disabling it as suggested before, reboot your phone.

Same thing happened on the s3. Call yourself from a different phone and leave a message then delete it from your phone.

Did try the reboot after disabling voicemail, still there.

You need to activate it and do the above, that's the only way.

Well if it's the visual voicemail notification that you're trying to make go away, then long press it in notification, and go to app info, and uncheck notifications. If it's the regular voicemail icon, I would say do the same, but looks like on stock that's tied to the phone.apk and stock doesn't seem to let you disable the notification. I'm not 100% sure on this but I think you can uncheck notifications on CM. Otherwise, yeah just setup voicemail leave a message, and then delete it.
I've tried the above method with no results? Anyone have any other ideas thanks ahead .
[edit] I've put this in the wrong spot I have an e4gt I would think the fix would be the same but I can't figure out how to delete my post sorry folks
clear phone data
on galaxy s7 edge with android 6.0 if you hold the notification until you get to "App Notification" then click on the "i" icon, once in the application info select storage. finally clear data
Root the phone and remove the app from your system......
