XIAOMI is going to give a update of miui 7 on first week of september for redmi 1s
well it has been not confirmed whether it is lollipop based or kitkat probably be lollipop as far as i think

Xiaomi announces the MIUI6 ( KitKat) for Redmi 1s early this year, for March. But the MIUI6 finally was realesed only a few weeks ago.
(And the official MIUIV6 for the Redmi 1S is 2 steps backward in comparison with previous V5, Jelly Bean versions. It's full of bugs, they do not have enough developers to do a good job. That's why I choose CM11.)
By the way, see here how "good" is their latest ROM for the Redmi 1S: http://en.miui.com/thread-129784-1-1.html
So, if they announced MIUI7 for september, well, there's a good chance to receive it next year.
And only God knows that it will be a good ROM or just another useless MIUI ROM full of bugs...

The link you give is not latest miui rom..latest is v6.6.2.0
Doesn't matter. Are you shure that the latest version is perfect? I doubt it.
I am sorry to say but MIUI has not announced that redmi will get the MIUI7 update. This is what I have seen on MIUI China's website. Anyway, we are gonna see.

I am now using CM13("stable") based on Xperia ROM.
A user provided an androidfile link that has uploaded LinOS builds for various device, take a look at it at the Index thread. Also, I will strongly suggest reaching out to some of the developers in your forum.

They haven't updated flyme 6 resources on github yet and also stopped updating git in DEC 2016 so don't hold the breath
