I can confirm 100% issues with GPS on my AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4. I bought it Sunday (12/28/2014) and noticed instant GPS inaccuracies, teleporting, not updating correct route information, etc. I got home, OTA'd, tried again the next day, same issues. Took it into AT&T yesterday (12/30/2014), guy instantly swapped, I stood right there and showed him exactly what was happening on the brand new, fresh out the box phone. "Hmmm, I'd give it a couple of days to.....uhhh.....calibrate, then bring it back if it doesn't work." Screw that, wtf is going on? Why do a select few of us have the problem and why does it continue to happen to the same people?
In another forum, a guy took his back not 1, not 2 but 3 TIMES, same gps issues everytime......... Add me to the list of people who've had multiple phones and the same gps issues. SIM related????? Maybe? I can't have another phone, I absolutely love this thing.
Had a Note 2 for close to 3 years, not one GPS problem. Using the Otterbox Defender, tried with and without case.
Not experiencing this personally...
Might try the 'supposed' fix here and see if that helps you at all.

Lucky you, I tried everything under the sun before I tried to get a new phone. I'm almost 98% positive it's a sim or AT&T software issue, most people started experiencing this after the update, I haven't had the phone long enough to know that information though.

As many, many other users of the galaxy nexus have reported, I am having some miserable signal problems. Obviously, CDMA nexus here.
I wish the issue was only that the signal on my phone is bad, but unfortunately it extends beyond that: my entire signal is lost at times. Usually it's intermittent and will happen 4 or 5 times a day for only 30 seconds at most at a time, but sometime (Usually late at night), it will lose its signal for even an hour or two, and I'll watch the battery plummet from as high as 54% to 0 as it searches for a signal the whole time.
I realize this is nothing new for some, but I almost feel like the problem went away for the whole world except for me, due to the low volume of threads related to the issue at all on the boards here. At least, recent ones.
What are my options? I don't really like the idea of trading in my nexus for a refurbished phone. Is 4.03 supposed to solve this problem? I had also read that rooting and flashing radios doesn't make much of a difference. To those of you with the CDMA nexus, what have you done to alleviate this problem? Or are you waiting patiently for an update?
Thank you in advance.
If bought new then return as faulty. Easiest solution.

The problem didn't go away. Most people had to make the decision to either live with it or trade it in on a RAZR or Rezound.

You could:
1. Trade it in for another GNex, on the "hopes" that yours is defective.
2. Trade it in for something else.
3. Live with it & wait it out on the hopes that someday Verizon will ship updated radios that will help. Current rumors say that could still be a couple of months away...
I am on the option 3 plan.
The leaked 4.0.3 radios have had limited & mixed results. For those who they do help, they don't seem to do a whole lot. There are a couple of people who had really good luck. Pretty much the same story for those of us who got Hardware version 10 phones - Haven't noticed any appreciable difference between it and the 9 I got on opening day.
Good luck!
strongergravity, thank you, that was extremely helpful; I was curious to how my fellow Nexus bretheren were dealing with the issue.
If a potential update can fix the radio, then I too will stick with number 3 as you have. Call me a masochist, but this thing is just too nice to part with.
Thank you very much for the detailed response.

I just saw your thread right after I created the exact same one today! I was just wondering what you ended up doing. No one has answered definitively as to whether or not this is happening on all phones. If an exchange will fix it, I would gladly go tomorrow. I know most phones are having trouble with the 3g/4g handoff but that is not the same issue we are having. What do you think!?
Mike
Same problems I've experienced. I'm on my second gnex, same issues.
Also I pulled speed tests next to other Verizon 4g phones (razor, rezound,TB) they all had significantly higher speeds than mine . I did multiple tests around our site, they had at least twice the speed as mine.
The razr pulled three times my speed most the time. 30+mb/s vs 10
The thunderbolt was around twice as fast downloads but uploads were even.
And the rezound was double on both uploads and downloads
I used the speed test app and speakeasy online.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Another comparison I did was turning on airplane mode on and off on all phones simultaneously. And switching 3g only on/off. To see which phones would latch on to 4g first.
Again the gnex was the slowest.
I really wish we received an update to fix this I love this phone!

I posted this earlier on another thread hoping it will get more views here.
So, I'm having the same exact problems but i did a log cat to see what might be culprit.
I have narrowed it down to this:
02-08 11:21:51.912 E/IMSFW (415): IIL: Disconnected from '7467' socket
still have no idea what can cause it yet.
also if you switch to 3g it seems it doesn't happen so maybe its a sim problem on verizons lte network end?
11:22:40.029 E/IMSFW (415): ImsSMSInterface: Registration failed, go for retrying if isim nounce present
that's what i found so if anyone can clarify and maybe see if it is really on Verizons end as this is the 4th phone that has had this problem
I will be going to verizon tomorrow to "try" and get a new 4g sim card and see if that helps somewhat.

I just went to the store and swapped out my 4g sim card... I dropped two calls on the way home from the store so I'm not sure it helped at all. Hopefully it didn't make it worse though!
I also checked my speeds and service against some other phones in the store and the Droid Razr destroyed my nexus and some other stock nexus that were there usually 12mpbs vs my 8 and 1mbps upload vs their 3.
Well I got my issues fixed today I was on tech support for an hour and he suggested to go to a store and get the sim card replaced. And that solved all my issues
Another problem I had was when using the headset for calling the person on the other line would here themselves. This has also gone away, I am so relieved I love this phone and did not want to abandone it.
Well, I did a bit of a test.
I kept my phone on 3g the whole day: Signal did not drop even for a single MOMENT in the entire day. Sure, there are times where it was bad, but my connection never entirely dropped. This leads me to believe that the problem lies with transitioning between 3g and 4g, or perhaps is just entirely related to 4g.
With the LTE network, I will have anywhere between 3% - 50% time with "no signal." It's extremely annoying and I'll always watch as my battery tanks extremely fast.
Maybe it's worth replacing the SIM card or at least, pulling it and putting it back in. Posting this here for others that are troubleshooting this same problem. I'll report back.
So normally I run my phone on Wifi because it saves battery when i'm on my university campus all day. So last night I headed off campus and so I turned off WiFi, and it didn't want to connect to data. Just sat there (with full service) but no data connectivity. So I rebooted the phone. still no connection, turned on airplane mode and then back off, now it worked but only for about 3 minutes I had 4G with blue sync and everything, then it dropped off. I went out into a rural area and I kept having full signal but no 3G. So I thought it was the rom. I was running AOKP b25 (Team Kang) so I just updated to Milestone 4. Everything was going well in initial setup of the phone, I had 4G signal, then halfway through setup the 4G dropped off. So I turned on Wifi and got everything setup. Turned off Wifi and it hooked to 4G almost immediately. Then about 3 minutes later, it dropped again. So at this point i'm really hoping it's not my phone and it's Verizon. I've never had a single issue before (i've had the phone since December) with data not connecting like this. It just started last night, which made me think it was Verizon and maybe it had to do with the Solar Flares or something? Has anyone had a similar issue and have any idea of what I might try?
Hi
I was just about to post the same thing. I'm experiencing the same, Data and service keeps dropping, I just got the phone Wednesday and since then It's been doing it. It's very frustrating, and I'm also on Verizon.
Someone else experiencing the same? Could Verizon be the responsible here and not the phone?
And if it helps, i'm located in Norman, OK

It's the phone, there's numerous threads about it (the Verizon version.) There's an expected software fix supposedly coming out this month sometime to fix it, that's all we know.
If it's the phone and an update will fix it, then why is it still doing it with a custom ROM? Do the custom ROMs not have the fix in place? I was under the impression that most of the things Verizon releases OTA to fix issues dont' happen in custom ROMS.

Samsung is going to hopefully release a radio update that fixes it, which isn't found in custom rom's because it hasn't been released outside of samsung yet.
It's kinda weird though that this JUST happened last night suddenly, the signal has been flawless since I bought it so that's why I thought it was Verizon because I guess I figured if it was the phone it would have been doing it all along and not stop working all of a sudden.
It's the phone and a software update won't fix it. I've tried every radio out there, none solved the issue. I got the phone swapped over a week ago, it is still stock, and the issue hasn't returned. Theres an ongoing thread over at rootz about this.
I can't post the link but it's there. many members are reporting that replacing the device solves the issue.
this was verizon. it happened to me, went away by itself.
that being said, ive had the best handoffs using the 4.0.4 and 4.0.3 radios. try one of those, or a hybrid package.
I went to the Verizon store and they gave me a new SIM Card. Now it works!

First of all you don't know what you're talking about. It may be a hardware issue it may be a software issue. There is no way to tell at this point. You are trying leaked radios, good job that proves nothing. If Samsung is aware of the issue and working on a new radio you haven't tried it yet. Sit back and relax until the update comes out. Then we can go from there.

Wow dude, no need to get insulting. I was merely sharing my experience with a frustrated OP. If you want to blindly believe that there can't be anything wrong with certain devices, until the manufacturer comes out and says it, then more power to you. You are the consumer that ever manufacturer loves. Myself and many others over at Rootzwiki have found success by having our devices replaced. When I tell you that it is night and day difference, it is not a lie.
I agree with you about the leaked radios. If they don't work then it proves nothing. They are leaked and probably not finished. The reason I mentioned them in the first place is because many people tend to suggest trying them to solve signal issues. I was explaining that I have tried them and it did not work. What worked was swapping the defective phone.
I have a galaxy S4 with latest update, not being modified or rooted, everything is original.
Here are the symptoms:
1. When someone calls me, I can't hear them, but they can hear me.
2. Never had problem when make calls from my galaxy s4
3. No difference on Wi-fi calling being enabled or disable.
These are the phone models that I had experienced the problem with.
1. Iphone 5 ---- AT&T; My friend's phone, he calls me about once every week. I did experience the problem once like 2 months ago.
2. Iphone 4S ---- AT&T; my gf's phone, so I have tested with it for many times (about 50x), at around 55% failure rate. Same issue when using it to call my T-Mobile galaxy S2.
3. Galaxy S4 ---- AT&T; The first time it calls my phone today, no sound right after I picked it up, but works again on the second call.
Has anyone had the same issue before?
I came across a post that someone had the same problems. He stated he finally called T-mobile and ask for his line to be "refresh". He said that fixed it for him.

Galaxy S4, it's in this forum I just can't locate the post.
To call Tmo and have your stuff reset is the same thing as rebooting your phone and it reconnecting to the tower.
I'm little unsure why you started 2 threads about the same issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2411397&nocache=1
Better to keep everything centralized in one thread imo.
With the above being said, and taking into consideration my previous response in your other thread, and your updated info, I suggest to:
Do a Factory reset and don't install any apps.
See if the issue persists.
Since the issue is intermittent, if the issue is still there, it may take awhile for it to show itself.
Since you have easy access to test for the issue with your gf's phone, that is suggested as it will speed up the troubleshooting process.
If the issue is still there, and you have tried the suggestions in the previous posts, you most likely have a hardware issue, and insurance or warranty exchange or repair is suggested.
Anyone have GPS Issues. I drive 5 hours a day and notice my GPS loses signal a few minutes and gets it back at least once an hour. I started having GPS issues after I did my update.

Same here, even more frequently than that
I am having same exact problem after lollipop update.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using XDA Free mobile app
I'm having the same issue after the Lollipop update.
I've had these issues with kitkat, lollipop, and over 6 or 7 replacements (lost count) on both T-Mobile and ATT variants. I've tried using a GPS repeater in my car, I've tried all the software/app fixes, resetting the GPS, etc etc. My suspicion is that it has a weak antenna and loses signal frequently.
It seems Samsung phones are a bit prone to GPS issues. I feel like it's Groundhog Day.
I may have to give up on Samsung and find something different.

I actually called att and I told them my GPS was going nuts ( mine would say I was in a different city ) and they sent me a replacement right away. The replacement works great and haven't had any problems with it. It came with android 4.4.4 and I upgraded to 5.0.1 and haven't had any GPS issues at all.

It was brand new like not a single scratch at all and it had the stickers like when u get a new phone. Now it didn't come with a battery or with the s pen or the back cover because when u call att they actually tell u " hey make sure u just send the phone back and that's it, keep the pen, the Sim, the micro SD, battery and the back cover."
Hmmm....from what I'm reading here, the GPS issue is not related to the OS upgrade, and that possibly exchanging the phone will result in success.
I was thinking I had red that this started with the OS upgrade. I hadn't used my GPS enough before the upgrade to know.
I guess I'll see if AT&T will exchange mine.
I have the exact same issue. Every 10 minutes or so it just stops updating and takes a minute or two to start tracking me again. It's really frustrating when I'm driving around a city and I can't see the next step in my directions because I'm a mile ahead of it.
We have two Note 4s in our house. One of them has the correct time, and the other one is suddenly off by 1:07. Both of the phones are set up exactly the same way:
Automatic Time Zone - Check
Automatic Date and Time - Check
Both of them show the time zone as GMT -6:00, Mountain Daylight Time
Both phones are running 4.4.4, N910VVRU1ANI1. I haven't taken any OTA updates on either phone.
I have installed nothing on either phone in at least a week.
I've tried rebooting the phone a couple of times, but it hasn't made any difference.
Both phones are sitting right next to one another, so they're on the same tower.
WiFi is on for both phones. Both phones have location with high accuracy turned on. I have tried shutting off wifi and location and rebooting, it made no difference.
I've run out of ideas. Anyone else have any ideas for me to try?
Thanks
Also tried battery pull and safe mode. The time is still off. I've noticed that when the phone boots, the clock will flash a couple of times and then set itself to 8:41am. It's now 10:03.
Never mind. Apparently this is a Verizon issue. I just rebooted the phone that wasn't having the problem, and it is now 8:49 on that phone. In the meantime, the one that was having the problem is now working correctly.
Whatever, Verizon. At least it's happening on my phone, instead of my wife's. I couldn't care less what time my phone says. I never even pay attention to it.
Ok, now it's happening on both of the phones on my account. It is 7:09am on 4/21, but my phone thinks that it's 5:58am on 4/20. Yesterday, my wife's phone was bouncing all over the place. After trying everything to fix this, I called Verizon. Because I'm not on Lollipop yet, they refused to help me. I mentioned that I always wait for a few months after an update comes out for any electronic device and that I've seen a lot of people with battery issues, and he said that there's an easy fix for the battery issues and that he couldn't help me any further until I do the update. Probably because he can't get to the next page in his script until he clicks the button that says that I have the latest updates installed. Ridiculous.
The so called easy fix for battery issues is wiping and restoring the phone. Unless I'm missing something, that's not an easy solution to anything. I've spent hours getting my phone where I want it. I don't want to start over again because Verizon can't put out a good update.
In any case, this isn't a PHONE issues, it has to be a service provider issue. Otherwise it wouldn't be happening on all phones on my account.
So I guess I get to have unreliable phones until the find and fix the actual issue on their own.
The issue is not the phones it is the tower. The phones on a CDMA network set the time be the tower that's why normally you don't have to worry about setting or updating the time on your phone unless the tower is screwed up. If you take the phone somewhere else where it can hit another tower it will most likely fix that. I do see something like this on my wifes tablet but that is because she turns off the LTE radio and only uses the WIFI so it can't synch.
I havent had any issues, but a guy here at school mentioned the same thing with his Verizon phone (not a note 4)
So maybe Verizon is having issues?
When I contacted Verizon this morning, that's what I told the guy. If it was only happening to one phone, then I could see how maybe something on the one phone was somehow screwing up the clock. But both phones? The Verizon rep asked me if I was on the latest update. I told him that I wasn't. He asked why and I told him that I never update anything when an update first comes out. I wait a couple of months. Plus I'd heard that there were battery issues with it. He refused to help me until I was updated. He actually laughed at me and told me that there was a simple fix for the battery issues - resetting and restoring the phone. Yea, that's so simple. Anyway, as I was walking out of the room, I caught sight of my network extender. That little box that has been plugged in and working just fine for over two years. The GPS light was flashing purple. I restarted it, waited for all lights to go blue, and then restarted the phones. The time has been perfect ever since.
So yup, it was the tower - the little tower in my house. That thing has been so reliable since I got it, that I forgot that it was even in the equation.

It's this one:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/accessories/samsung-network-extender-scs-2u01/
It was a refurb, but I got it for free. When I first started with Verizon, I had all sorts of issues with dropped calls at home. They said that they could give me this, or I could cancel. Where I used to live, Verizon was the only real reliable choice, so I stuck with it and took the extender.
