Hi,
I have a desire 820u, as you know, this is unit is direct to Taiwan or China, hence I am stuck on the blink feed of that countries only.
I have got an info that I can only get rid of this a will be able to add the content of another region, if I was able to change the CID.
Would you please suggest to me a global CID or a one for Middle East?
Thanks,
Mustafa

May i ask ,what have you done regarding this issue?
I have the same device but also found a custom rom in which blinkfeed was working .Here : http://bbs.gfan.com/forum.php?mod=v...age=1&filter=typeid&typeid=11382&typeid=11382.
So i guess its not cid dependable.

Hello, I have with me a TP2 with S/N : HT95VLL00XXX. Can anybody tell me what version is this TP2 ? It has Chinese language, but if I use OEM ROM from HK to flash, it said invalid vendor ID. Kindly direct me on what version of ROM to use please. Thanks ppl...
On settings, device information, check the rom version. There are a few Chinese roms out there, and you have a CID issue. Or wait for Hard_SPL.
Cheers
Hi, thx for replying. But I need the OEM ROM to flash it again. Because after that I can create Goldcard. AFAIK, in order to get Card ID and create goldcard, the card must be inserted to the device which wanted to be flashed right ? If it is right, then it means I cannnot create any Card ID since my device is stuck in Bootloader mode all the time. Mtty's Set 16 0 doesn't fix it. It exits the BL mode but stays in the touch Pro writings...Never move further...Thx....
Is this what you are looking for?

in addition, you need to know if it supports Traditional Chinese (CHT) or Simplified Chinese (SC). CHT is used by Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Hi guys, thx for replying..But case closed..Thx to cmonex the hero

After i inserted the SN it says that this update is not suitable for my device.
How is that possible?!?!
I have the EU GSM Version.
PS: Can someone point me to a link where i can download the official 6.5 Rom upgrade?

Have you tried the official post in Rhodium development section? they're same like in the htc official website.
I finally downloaded the 6.5 official update but it says its not a good vendor or something when i try to install it. I guess its not made for my region/country.
Oh well...
Hi, I faced the same problem on HTC official website. What did you do?
Thanks,
I found a good SN on a website so i could download it, but you wont be able to flash your phone to the rom because its not suitable for your device, meaning in EU only Western Europe has an update. Eastern Europe still doesn't have an update to 6.5.
I bought a HTC Touch Pro 2 in Malaysia
I went to the HTC South East Asia site but when i enter the S/N it gives me this error
"Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device."
http://www.htc.com/sea/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=736&news_id=318
Have anyone found a way around this ?
Also had this issue with a UK Orange branded TP2
I mailed HTC and got this reply;
You recently wrote us about an issue that you have encountered with your device.
To clarify your issue, you stated that you have not been able to download an update from our website.
If your device is network branded or locked your network has restricted your access to our downloads. If you wish to download an upgrade to your device you will need to contact your network. They may have customised updates available on their website.
Another possibility is that you have been trying to download a version which is not suitable for your region (as example an Eastern European ROM for a Western European device) which is not possible.
So looks like its Orange that's at fault in my case. I contacted Orange and kicked up a stink as they advertised the phone with the feature of being able to update to wm6.5. They told me that they are working on it and it should be available soon...... :/
When they get it sorted they say it'll be here;
http://www.business.orange.co.uk/servlet/Satellite?c=OUKDevice&cid=1242977836148&extarg1=Phone&pagename=Business&t=SMEDeviceDownloads
Anyone else got it sorted on Orange already tho?

I had this issue too on the SEA Website.
I told them, they fixed it and all good now...

The branded phones need to make their own updates. Thats HTC's rule.
Some mobile operators might release updates, some might not.
Yip...had the same problem today. I brought my TP2 from NZ 3 months ago and wasnt locked to any one provider there.
Now back in Indonesia I've tried getting the 6.5 Rom upgrade on both HTC's euro website and Asia/Pacific website and have come up with the same message....bummer.
I hope it gets sorted cos I was told by the vendor that it was upgradable....
Hi I have Htc touch hd and I am trying to install an update from the middle east region and its telling me the same thing

Hi i;m from romania, but my phone i think is from other country(how can I find out??)
For example Vodafone UK get JB software, but Romania doesnt get JB software...in this situation can I Install the rom from UK so I have to wait until vodafone romania releases JB ?
and another thing I have to wait until the vodafone releases the JB or ORANGE ? because I'm on ORANGE OPERATOR
It's released based on CID
Get it from market "cid getter" and follow the thread. Most likely your cid is from your country or international.
But it's nice to know
Ps: cid = customer id
Sent from my HTC One X
Vodafone doesn't have it. Orange doesn't have it.
Only Taiwan, CID HTC__621 has it. They are fixing bugs, it will roll out in due course.
Please check your CID against the one in this thread, if it doesnt match, you will have to wait i'm afraid
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1924003
it says that i have VODAP102..but i buyed this phone from another person and I dont know from where this phone was buyed initialy.

As others said, first you have to get your phone's CID. There are quite a few ways to do it, but a.m. CID getter from Play Store would be the most convenient for you.
CID will tell you when you can install JB.
You could also get your version-main, where the information of your phone's country/region is described. But, CID and version-main are corellated, so one of the two will do the job.
If Voda UK gets JB, your phone will get it ONLY if your phone's CID matches Voda UK's CID.
And vice versa if Voda Romania gets it - again you will get it if it matches Voda Romania's CID.
Your current operator has nothing to do with JB update, unless you bought the phone from them (I guess you didn't). My case - I have VODAP102 CID (Voda UK), run custom ROM, and use Serbian national operator mt:s. And, I have to wait in a queue like other European users.

You won't be able to upgrade until the carrier releases it then i'm afraid, Branded phones are a pain for this

Do some search on XDA, I've seen a table which indicates countries based on CID. Your case, like mine is fairly simple - its' Voda Germany I think, but it shares OTA/RUU with Voda Uk, I think. Could be confirmed by running:
fastboot getvar version-main

Or, he could wait for a properly cleaned, themed and moded custom ROM (like I will ).
it says
ro.carrier : VODA GERMANY
ro.cid VODAP102
...
it means that this phone is from germany ? I'm in romania
so i'll recieve the update when JB will be available for VODAFONE GERMANY or for VODAFONE ROMANIA?
sorry now i've seen ur posts..
so this means that I'll recieve the update when it will be avaiable for GERMANY VODAFONe..
it good because Germany I think maybe will be first with the update..

Won't this depend on which HBOOT firmware he's on?

Of course, what I meant was that eventually all CIDs will be eligible for JB. I really doubt that HTC will withhold JB for long time.
Until then, there are plenty of custom ICS ROMs out there...

If you're on stock ROM, you could share the information once you get OTA.

And until Vodafone releases JB, he won't be able to install them due to the required updated hboot.
Unless somebody does something pretty special with the kernel. I wouldn't hold my breath for that.
Hey all,
A month ago I bought the M8 in NYC (unlocked, WWE).
I'm currently living abroad (middle east), and for some reason I don't get software updates.
I'm running the 1.12.422.19 version, and I know that there is an update (includes the extreme power saving mode),
but every I check for updates I get "there are no updates available for your phone".
Why is that?
Is there anything I can do about it?
Thanks!
Unlocked wwe is *.**.401.**. Never seen a 422 wwe......
401 is the European unbranded phone,1540 is the US unbranded phone, pretty sure 422 is that funny South American one that doesn't have any updates...could be wrong though
EDIT: Could be the Verizon build going by results when Google-ing 1.12.422.19...
Thanks guys!
So say I want my device to get updates (OTA), I should flash a 401 or 1540 firmware?
Should I change the CID (HTC_017) as well?
Thanks!

You could check the threads on converting your M8...
Hello can anyone please tell me the difference between them ? does m8x come with unlocked bootloader or rooted is it a Chinese version ? is it safe to buy
please explain every detail you know thanks .
They're just different models for different regions. If you're in the UK, you want the M8_UL, model number 0P6B10000, so you get full GSM/4G coverage
So nothing comes with unlocked bootloader unless its developer edition ?
That's correct (unless you buy second hand and someone has already unlocked it)
