Hi i;m from romania, but my phone i think is from other country(how can I find out??)
For example Vodafone UK get JB software, but Romania doesnt get JB software...in this situation can I Install the rom from UK so I have to wait until vodafone romania releases JB ?
and another thing I have to wait until the vodafone releases the JB or ORANGE ? because I'm on ORANGE OPERATOR
It's released based on CID
Get it from market "cid getter" and follow the thread. Most likely your cid is from your country or international.
But it's nice to know
Ps: cid = customer id
Sent from my HTC One X
Vodafone doesn't have it. Orange doesn't have it.
Only Taiwan, CID HTC__621 has it. They are fixing bugs, it will roll out in due course.
Please check your CID against the one in this thread, if it doesnt match, you will have to wait i'm afraid
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1924003
it says that i have VODAP102..but i buyed this phone from another person and I dont know from where this phone was buyed initialy.

As others said, first you have to get your phone's CID. There are quite a few ways to do it, but a.m. CID getter from Play Store would be the most convenient for you.
CID will tell you when you can install JB.
You could also get your version-main, where the information of your phone's country/region is described. But, CID and version-main are corellated, so one of the two will do the job.
If Voda UK gets JB, your phone will get it ONLY if your phone's CID matches Voda UK's CID.
And vice versa if Voda Romania gets it - again you will get it if it matches Voda Romania's CID.
Your current operator has nothing to do with JB update, unless you bought the phone from them (I guess you didn't). My case - I have VODAP102 CID (Voda UK), run custom ROM, and use Serbian national operator mt:s. And, I have to wait in a queue like other European users.

You won't be able to upgrade until the carrier releases it then i'm afraid, Branded phones are a pain for this

Do some search on XDA, I've seen a table which indicates countries based on CID. Your case, like mine is fairly simple - its' Voda Germany I think, but it shares OTA/RUU with Voda Uk, I think. Could be confirmed by running:
fastboot getvar version-main

Or, he could wait for a properly cleaned, themed and moded custom ROM (like I will ).
it says
ro.carrier : VODA GERMANY
ro.cid VODAP102
...
it means that this phone is from germany ? I'm in romania
so i'll recieve the update when JB will be available for VODAFONE GERMANY or for VODAFONE ROMANIA?
sorry now i've seen ur posts..
so this means that I'll recieve the update when it will be avaiable for GERMANY VODAFONe..
it good because Germany I think maybe will be first with the update..

Of course, what I meant was that eventually all CIDs will be eligible for JB. I really doubt that HTC will withhold JB for long time.
Until then, there are plenty of custom ICS ROMs out there...

If you're on stock ROM, you could share the information once you get OTA.

And until Vodafone releases JB, he won't be able to install them due to the required updated hboot.
Unless somebody does something pretty special with the kernel. I wouldn't hold my breath for that.

Now available in Hong Kong on Three, anyway. Will try it later, it's just shy of 30MB
Also available now in Australia......
Haven't installed yet...

Nothing on Three UK yet, but no surprises there
Just updated. Testing now^^

The Indian Update
Just got the Indian Update. Updating.... Will let you guys know if there is any difference.
You people do know that the OTA update will most likely update your HBoot?
Which in turn means that it may not be possible to SOFF as soon as the solution comes out.
(Just throwing that out there...)
It did update the HBOOT. Now on 0.94.

If I haven't rooted it yet (nor have I with my HTC legend of old) then I doubt it will happen before the soff is resolved. My one x's are all business phones phones so I don't like messing with them.
Thanks for making people aware tho!

I'm still in 1.28.401.9 in the UK with Orange.
Can someone screen shot their phone if they've got 1.28.708.10?
Anybody know the changes? Cheers

This is a thread for the Asian OTA - 1.28.401.9 is the latest for UK handsets so you will NOT get this...
If an update has anything other than x.xx.401.x then you won't get it - it's not a hard concept to grasp

Thanks for the heads up... just updated and testing it out now. For those unaware, the firmware version is 1.28, the next 3 digits after that (e.g. 708) is region-specific. In this case, 708 is specific to Hong Kong. So don't worry if you're already on 1.28.xxx.

It's not so much UK-only - it's the EU vendor code. But yeah, we only get x.xx.401.x updates unless you bought the handset from somewhere outside the EU

A simple thanx would be nice
Hey all,
A month ago I bought the M8 in NYC (unlocked, WWE).
I'm currently living abroad (middle east), and for some reason I don't get software updates.
I'm running the 1.12.422.19 version, and I know that there is an update (includes the extreme power saving mode),
but every I check for updates I get "there are no updates available for your phone".
Why is that?
Is there anything I can do about it?
Thanks!
Unlocked wwe is *.**.401.**. Never seen a 422 wwe......
401 is the European unbranded phone,1540 is the US unbranded phone, pretty sure 422 is that funny South American one that doesn't have any updates...could be wrong though
EDIT: Could be the Verizon build going by results when Google-ing 1.12.422.19...
Thanks guys!
So say I want my device to get updates (OTA), I should flash a 401 or 1540 firmware?
Should I change the CID (HTC_017) as well?
Thanks!

Ee in the UK is notorious for not giving software updates. And this is concerning especially with Android L on its way soon! Anyone have any experience dealing with them at all?
They will update the phone, they have to. Not sure where these worries come from. Or s-off and convert the phone to unbranded wwe and have the fastest updates.....
Kinda useless to speculate on this topic, they must update but when they do .... that's something you have to wait for. Patience is the word you need i guess

hello, did it work?
did you see the update after a factory reset?
I have exactly the same problem as you: new HTC M8x, turned on for the first time, language was chinese or something, started the update on my mobile data plan, I cancelled it, and after that no new software update whenever I check (it's been 3 days).
My phone has 1.54.709.12 (4.4.2) software version and I'm very frustrated because I don't know how to trigger a software update.
My phone has CID: HTC_621

Well, the updates are gradually rolled out by HTC. Thats their way. No worries. You can call up HTC to find out whether an update for your model has been released in your REGION. I had the same issue. They told me to check for the updates in the next 5 days. I received the update within 4 days ! The update process not only depends on the continent, but also on your local region, as they have to put the update on your local server... :good:

Good point. I can't answer that, because I never tried it. It's obvious that once an update for Taiwan variant has been rolled out, you can get it, since you don't have an OTA available right now even if you're in a region which got the first update; May be you will get it once it's rolled out in the region, where you bought the device. Anyways why don't you call HTC and have a talk over this issue ? Go ahead...
No it's being pushed out by cid. Mocking a location does not change that !
If you have s-off you can change the MID + CID + Firmware and stock wwe rom and then get the ota from Europe.

I chatted with HTC support in Europe and US, but they all suggested that I contact HTC Taiwan for my problem (because my phone is for Taiwan).
I've sent an e-mail yesterday to HTC Taiwan and HTC Hong Kong. HTC Taiwan doesn't offer English support in their chat, only Chinese.
And I'm waiting for their answer.
I'll keep you posted about their answer. In the meantime I'm just frustrated because I have a phone that will probably be the last to get future updates.

Yeah, I thought about doing that, but I have two concerns:
1. Render my device unusable, because of the different radio version.
2. Loose my warranty, which I will loose at some point, but not just yet.

Yes, there was a software update released at the end of July for Asian (Taiwan) version phones.

Sorry, I think you misunderstood me, I'm not being sarcastic, I'm really asking why. The thing I have found difficult is that that I haven't found enough resources for ROMs and firmwares and which ones exactly I can use without bricking my phone (maybe is my fault for not looking)
By the way I have already done all that, but I guess I will read a little more before flashing.
