After creating a Nandroid backup, I flashed the KT747 kernel on my Galaxy S3 I747 (Bell). The flash seemed to finish without any errors, but after rebooting, it just gets stuck on the Ktoonsez "kernel domination" logo screen. I wiped the cache and dalvik cache like the guide told to do. I tried doing this before the kernel install and after the install. The soft keys flash and vibrate on touch, and the notification light flashes, but it just stays on this screen for a few minutes until it turns off.
Am I using the right version of the kernel for my device/rom? I can only seem to find the kernel listed below from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756776 . Details are below. If I am using the wrong kernel version, could someone please give me the correct link. If it is the correct version, what could be going wrong?
Thanks in advance.
Attempted Kernel: KT747 AOSP KK ATT 07-10-2014
Currently installed kernel: [email protected] # 1
Rom: CyanogenMod 11-20140226-snapshot-installerxnpq09q-d2att
Recovery: ClockworkMod 6.0.4.7
Android version: 4.4.2
Build number: cm_d2att-userdebug 4.4.2 KOT49H InstallerXNPQ09Q release-keys
I see two potential issues and they are:
you are running an older version of CM11 and the kernel was released a few months months after your version of CM11; and
the kernel is for use with AOSP and TW ROMs, not CM ROMs.

Hey all, mega n00b here
My story; I was running Froyo on my P1000 until last week, Kies told me there was an upgrade available to 2.3.3 GB which I undertook.
I took exception to the navigation button lights always on. I looked and searched all over for fixes and tried in vain to root my tab. I even installed a new Kernel that was supposed to be rooted - it installed but no root!? PLUS my WIFI was now f***ed and either would not connect or continuously dropped.
Anyway, the installed kernel had CWM Recovery in it.
I found another post that led me to the Overcome ROM & Kernel.
I installed the Kernel first and was shi**ing bricks when all that happened was the word "andriod" flashing on the screen!
After friggin about with CWM I found I could load the ROM from the external SD which I duly did and Voila a working Tab, and boy is it slick.
Now, I have two questions - any and all help greatly recieved:
1.) What is up with the website for the install guide and other files?
2.) What do I need to do to install a modem and which one is most suitable for my tab I am in UK on Vodafone.
Device Details:
Model Number: GT-P1000
F/W version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: P1000XXJPZ
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7 Overcome-v4.0.0 #40
Build number: Overcome 7 Series v4.0.0
IDK and no
OK
So, no modem needed? ...I've not tested the 3G data on the Tab yet.
I found the issue with the w/s...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18751328&postcount=131
...from the horses mouth so to speak.
EDIT: Tested 3G and all is perfect!
I flashed to LiquidSmooth v1.4 for GSM from the thread here, but when I check About Phone, it says:
Build Number: Liquid ICS v1.35
Kernel Version:
3.0.8-franco.Kernel-Milestone3
Mod Version:
liquid.maguro.042612.193406
Could be a build.prop error. Check the 1.4 changelog from the thread and see if the new features are evident, might be a place to start.

Have you tried to just re flash and see if that was the problem? You shouldn't lose any data.
Okay, so, I'm running ASD's Slimstar 2.2 on my T989 Hercules, and I was awaiting RC1 of Ayysir's latest 4.2.2 ASDK.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2111871
[edit] This is the first time I've ever tried to flash a kernel, so I do not necessarily know wtf I'm doing. [/edit]
I downloaded RC1 Fixer and dirty flashed the kernel using Cyandelta, but got stuck in bootloop. So then I went back to TWRP and clean flashed SS2.2 and then flashed RC1 Fixer again. Still got stuck in bootloop. Am I making a mistake? Is this ASDK not compatible with SS?
I would ask this there, but I'm not allowed to post in developer's yet.
ok
Not sure if you got this sorted out yet, but if not, slimstar 2.2 is based on android 4.1.2, whereas the ASDK kernel you are flashing is 4.2.2. So they aren't compatible.
Try flashing his latest 4.1.2 kernel instead from the same thread
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2111871):
4.1.2 Final Fixer
Size: 7.7 MB

Hopefully that works for you.
I currently have a phone running PAC man ROM and the stock kernel it came with. Im looking for ANY kernel to run on this ROM that increases battery life and overclocks but everytime I install a kernel, they always successfully install but my phone boots up without the boot animation and leads to a blank screen. The lights work and I can hear the volume controls and notifications, but nothing ever comes on the screen. I did this for 3 different kernels with the same result. I usually just reflash the PACman rom and all is good. What could the problem be?

You could be installing the wrong kernel for your ROM. For example, the BMS kernel has a 3.0.x version and a 3.4.x version. With the PACman ROM, the 3.4.x version only works on the latest (4.3) nightlies, and the 3.0.x only works on the latest stable or 4.2 builds. That's the first thing I would check. Next, make sure you're flashing the correct kernel for your carrier (eg., d2spr, d2vzw, d2att, etc). But other than that, I don't know what could be causing your problems.

If you're using a 4.3 AOSP ROM, this is the version of dkp you wanna flash: http://d-h.st/05V
Hope that helps...

When I try the kernel, the boot animation disappears and I still get the blank screen while the phone is on.

Try a different kernel? I don't know what else to recommend.

Damn I was gonna say that. I had the same problem.. I had a JTAG done cuz I goofed and I was on the LEN bootloader.
In case anyone doesn't know how to check:
Open terminal emulator
Type: su
Type: getprop ro.bootloader
the last three are your radio
eg. L710VMD4
This is the best way to check because sometimes(like my problem) under settings>about phone my baseband said md4 but my boot loader actually was LEN so when I tried flashing I got the same blank screen.

You need to update recovery. I'd say the best bet is twrp 2.6.1.0. Though I haven't flashed my s2 in awhile....maybe a newer version is better? Last I checked 2.6.1.0 was best.
Then the newer ROMs should flash fine.
Make sure to follow the ROM flash instructions to the letter.
I'd say nandroid first....but you'd have to flash twrp first, then do it. But I'd have Odin and a stock 4.1.2 image ready just in case. In fact....I'd Odin 4.1.2 first. Then flash twrp and root. Nandroid backup after. Then flash ROMs.
Read up good though....I'm not there, so I don't warranty this advice. Lol.
Good luck.
