I have a rooted Note 8.0. I am trying to use an app (DirectTV GenieGO). When I try to run it, it tells me that it will not work with a rooted machine.
Is there any way to make the app think that the Note is not rooted?

Root Cloak (Versions for both XPosed and Cydia Substrate) will do it. I had the same issue with my cable provider's app until I installed that. Works like a charm.

It is here, so yes, follow the instructions. I haven't actually installed the app but it is available in the market. Try clearing the Framework too, then Market, then reboot. Let me know if that helps and I'll update the instructions.

Tried as well, no go for me either.
Must be something else that has to "reset"
, my stock rooted N7 had this and I can install this app from the market.
Need Microsoft Lync on my Note 10.1. Android market says device not compatible. This is essential for work. Is there a way to side load it?
I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1860950&d=1365187632 give it a try.
I if ya mean https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ync15&hl=en&rdid=com.microsoft.office.lync15I can install it in my device without problem , this is weird
Have you tried sideloading it?
Edit: Nevermind, I see that someone above me has already posted an apk.

My Galaxy S3 shows up and it installs fine. The Note is greyed out. Says this app is compatible with some of your devices. Are you using the 600?

OK, best way is download the latest to your phone, make a backup of the app, then restore it back on your tablet.

Will try that. I have Titanium Backup on my phone, I assume I can export the .apk from there? The Note is not rooted, but I installed the last one posted via Dropbox, so that should work again.

I haven't seen a clear answer on this, so does anybody know what root methods still work after the new update? If they all still do, is there anything I should do differently in the rooting process?
You have to wait till one of the methods gets an upgrade
BAD ASS G3
Well seeing as how the d851 boot loader is shipping unlocked from T-Mobile I think it would be pretty safe to say that once you manage to properly install the 10m OTA, you would simply flash TWRP from purpledrake in fastboot and from there flash supersu.

I used Stump root and mine is rooted again. I had to use the brute force root to get it done in Stump. After that I installed SuperU, TWRP and Busy Box.

Purpledrake probably replaced the M boot.img with the C boot.img. If it did that means your back on the C kernel and if it didn't you no longer have the modded disabled root checker.

I used Kingroot. Even if it says it can't, just tap root. It should root and reboot it.
KingRoot is the answer.

Yes,KingRoot will work. I'm also on 5.1.1 with Unlocked Bootloader and the latest version of KingRoot worked like a charm. Replaced it with SuperSU later and now everything looks good.

What method did you use to to replace KingRoot with SuperSU? I've seen an app on the Play store called Super-Sume, but it costs $4. I was wondering, is there was a better alternative? I've seen some guides online, but they were written in very poor English.
I'm trying to root a T2 Ultra and put link2sd on it to solve the low storage problem. It currently on Lollipop 5.1.1
Thanks!

If you are using magisk for root then you can use the hide root option.
I have to use this for my bank app.

Had to root to solve it. Now I'm using Magisk + Hide and it's working fine.
The problem is Audax rom. The kernel is self rooting, so even if you unroot in supersu, your kernel will just reroot the phone which wont allow magisks to work and hide root from your apps. Your best bet is to go back to a stock rom, flash TWRP, flash magisk and update the app from the playstore. If thats not an option, look for a kernel that isnt rooted. Arter97's kernel comes to mind, but its a bit dated...but allows me to play pokemon go, so im happy with it!

Slimroms is not accepting root. So I can't abandon the ROM i love to play Mario.
can't play super mario run on my samsung tablet. stops on Only nintendo logo.
I didn't look where the topic was located. I own a Mi 5. So i dunno if there is a slim rom for Samsung S6 Edge. But, i changed to RR and it already came with magisk. And it worked. Mario now works on this custom rom with magisk installed.
try to install root
