I used Kingroot. Even if it says it can't, just tap root. It should root and reboot it.

KingRoot is the answer.

Yes,KingRoot will work. I'm also on 5.1.1 with Unlocked Bootloader and the latest version of KingRoot worked like a charm. Replaced it with SuperSU later and now everything looks good.

What method did you use to to replace KingRoot with SuperSU? I've seen an app on the Play store called Super-Sume, but it costs $4. I was wondering, is there was a better alternative? I've seen some guides online, but they were written in very poor English.
I'm trying to root a T2 Ultra and put link2sd on it to solve the low storage problem. It currently on Lollipop 5.1.1
Thanks!

[Q] Rooting after the new update(10m)

I haven't seen a clear answer on this, so does anybody know what root methods still work after the new update? If they all still do, is there anything I should do differently in the rooting process?
You have to wait till one of the methods gets an upgrade
BAD ASS G3
Well seeing as how the d851 boot loader is shipping unlocked from T-Mobile I think it would be pretty safe to say that once you manage to properly install the 10m OTA, you would simply flash TWRP from purpledrake in fastboot and from there flash supersu.

I used Stump root and mine is rooted again. I had to use the brute force root to get it done in Stump. After that I installed SuperU, TWRP and Busy Box.

Purpledrake probably replaced the M boot.img with the C boot.img. If it did that means your back on the C kernel and if it didn't you no longer have the modded disabled root checker.

Rooting 512

Sorry if this is on the forums somewhere but i have a UK P6. Just gone from 116 to 132 then onto Kitkat 512. Tried to root with Vroot but all the destructions are in chineese even on the uk version!
Has anyone rooted 512 using another program?
I was rooted on 116 if this makes any difference.
Thanks all......
Did you manage to root your P6 since your last post ?
I also have a P6 with 4.4.2 B512 official firmware. I tried a lot of methods with no luck : vroot, eroot, root genius, kingo root... Each one failed.
methods listed here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390491
No not yet. Worried I am going to brick it. I followed guide also.
512 is better don't seem to get the wi fi drop outs.

Maybe the easiest way is to root with TWRP.
Reboot TWRP -> Press Reboot -> System. Now it will promt if you would like to root before rebooting, just press Yes. Now your phone will be reboot and you have root access!
You can restore to Stock recovery after doing this.

Quick question to both of you: do you have the Balance theme applied, or does it look like stock android?
In my experience, when my first boot looked like stock android, I wasn't able to root with vroot or root genius.
When I then changed to the balance theme, I could root successfully.

Stump root (like cliff said) or towelroot.
Towelroot may not work on all models though. It did work on my D850 with firmware 10D.

Well, this is untethered root, so it doesn't have a root app, so I recommend installing supersu from the play store, and supersu has an option to unroot, but there is always the option to just flash back to stock using a tot file or kdz file and LG flash tool

Does flashing kdz file removes the root flag?? Also if I will "unlock bootloader" (TWRP/bump whatever...) is installing kdz file will make it all stock and undetectable?

Rooting w/ Kingroot (if it works) is only temproot, as soon as you reboot the phone root is gone. So this tute doesn't really give you the whole process to achieve perm root on your G3.

You have to download the latest version of Kingroot. I think it's 4.9.something. The links on some of the pages are to earlier versions that didn't work for me either. Search for the latest Kingroot version. I don't think it was on the main website.
To be honest I don;'t like Kingroot at all.
It installs it's self as a system app and puts this purify program on (and btw it's a temp root on the LG G3, if you restart , you have to do it again). And it seems to have issues with SuperUser once you flash the ROM. Some appz would get root access and others wouldn't. It was quite annoying. I am waiting for a Stock.zip of MM to come out before I go back to it. For now I would stick to LP 30E Bloatware free. Very easy to root.
And if anyone that is reading this knows how to get MM to stop asking you if you want to wipe your ass for every little thing tell me how to disable it. Every time I connect it to my PC, it's like "are you sure you want to allow USB connection?". No I slipped and it plugged in all by it's self! Even when doing some of the most basic stuff, it asks 'Allow' or 'Deny'? Extremely annoying. The only thing that is a plus is the Bluetooth function. It doesn't ask you to enter the '0000' or '11111' code when connecting different devices like it does on LP, KK, JB, and ICS.
Edit: The Kingroot version that worked for me was NewKingrootV4.9.6_C151_B329_en_release_2016_09_30.apk. I think the one on the Kingroot website is older and named "NewKingrootV4.9.6_C151_B309_en_release_2016_08_18_105203.apk". Just do a search for the former and it should work to temp Root MM. Remember, if you restart the phone the Root will go away.
Once you temp root it, download TWRP's latest version, twrp-3.0.0-0-d851.img or what ever and put it in the phones main directory. Then download the terminal emulator that has the green android fella on it from the play store and type these commands in:
su
dd if=/sdcard/twrp-3.0.0-0-d851.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
reboot recovery
(Just make sure in the line "dd if=/sdcard/twrp-3.0.0-0-d851.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery" you type the name of the TWRP img you put in the phone.
lg g3 d851 30g not root kingroot.apk
hy guys
plse help me lg g3 d851-30g devices unrooted.
Kingroot 4.1 can root Kitkat/LP but not Marshallow. I tried Kingroot 5.2 on MM did not work either so I end up downgrade to KK/LP and root it. Then can flash custom roms. For MM I seen method on other forum just a bit complicated to do it.

You have to unlock the bootloader too. Unblocking the bootloader will wipe your device.
As a rule of thumb, I always unlock bootloader on day one of purchasing my devices. (mostly Nexus or OP so far). This way you avoid potentially losing data.
Or u can download systemless xposed which will allow to turn on and off to use Android pay

root (access) is obtained via apps like SuperSU
xposed has nothing to do with root access - it is an additional framework allowing for low level modifications (like amplify, etc)
unlocking bootloader is always the first step, from there you can flash supersu (which is NOT just an APK file).
there's a number of threads about it that can explain it better than i.
