So I was a happy camper following the purpledrake rooting method for my LGG3 (D851) and then made the rookie mistake of upgrading to 10r. Now it seems my SuperSU doesnt work (no binaries found). Root Checker says Root access denied. Xposed Installer is not up to date as it doesn't have root permissions. How do I get out of this? Tried looking for downgrading from 10r, but couldnt find anything solid. Should I downgrade or wait to re-root 10r?

Try the TOT method. Haven't done it yet but will be doing it later today.

You will get the updates but you might not be able to install them via your phone. If you use lg pc suite on your pc you will be able to update and then root again afterwards.

More than likely, but it might also mess up your root.
So, you might want to deactivate the OTA updates and wait for whoever did your root to read/examine the OTA update and work it into their next root update.
I used purple drake and just updated to 10g ota, and root persisted. All is working well.

Good to hear it hasn't caused any problems for you!
I'm with the 851 variant and I know with the thread for PurpleDrake T-Mo rooting, thecubed mentioned the OTA's and how they might affect root and to just wait on any OTA updates until they could get a read on them and work them into their root.
But, I'm not sure if that was specific to the 851 or so.
What is the latest version of firmware on F400K?

I am on the VS985 on 10B.
I am rooted with IOROOT -- So if there is an update, I can use the LG PC Suite to update and I will keep root? or will I have to re-root again.
EDIT: Also, I am on http://www.lg.com/hk_en/support/pc-suite and do not see the download for the VS985. -- NEVERMIND. IT IS THE D855 ON THEIR SITE

Some keep root and some don't, seems like a lottery. Also if you do lose root you will probably have to use purple Drake to root.

Sounds good -- Now would I loose any of my app data or anything like that in this process, even if i loose root? or would it just upgrade, loose root, then I re-root it with PurpleDrake as you explained?
AFAIK LG blocks OTA installs (it will download and you'll have that annoying notification however) if you're rooted, I could be wrong though.

[Q] How to root LG G3 D855 on Lollipop.

I was wondering if there was some method for rooting the LG G3 on Android 5.0 (Lollipop). I've searched far and wide on the internet but have found nothing so far. I did see that there were methods for the Nexus devices but nothing for LG.
Would like this as well. I thought I could live a while without root.. Seems like I just can't. :crying:
I think that you can find already rooted lollipop version on the forum.
For now, i nowhere found any root options.
Sent from my LG-D855
now it's impossible to root lollypop via purpledrake, ioroot or other programs but you can flash a rooted bumped rom.
I'll wait for this.
Same situation here.
Planned to use the pre-rooted lollipop but to use it you need twrp on the phone. To get twrp you need first root. So its a dead end, a points on b and b points back on a, both needing the other present first.....
Maybe if you flash an older kdz, root it with any of the previous methods, then get twrp on the phone and then flash the pre-rooted lollipop. Im just gonna wait for a lollipoproot without twrp needed.

I am on 5.0 and tried purpledrake (since i used it with 4.4.2), but it did not work, i also tried Stump and got an error too. With 5.0 the structure has changed and the methods for KK are different to Lollipop. So far, even with Nexus, the only way to root is through bootloader/kernel.
Hopefully soon we will see a method that can bypass this.
This is the method that works on the d855 by skin1980 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-lollipop-rooted-rom-skin1980-t2936022

Yup, thats the reason why i downgraded it to KK. Downgrade, root and you can install rooted L.
Sent from my LG G3
Does that work then? I'm on Lollipop 20a on the D855. If i install the KK kdz, will it make the phone rootable again? I read something to do with the boot loader not reverting back to how it was before lollipop

Use this guide to downgrade http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
(you can flash almost any KK KDZ, v10x of course, but make sure it's for your device)
Root it with your preferred root method (i prefer Purple Drake)
BUMP it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2900614
Now you can flash the bumped roms you'll like. Just make sure, it's for your device.
lg g3 d855 5.0
Had the bumped 5.0 twrp flashed the wrong superSU so went back to stock took the 5.0 OTA update now searching for root solution, tried purple drake no joy puts it in the mode but fails as expected, so i guess i will also wait

Rooting stock lollipop

Is it possible to root LG's version of lollipop? I upgraded and then tried purpledrake and stump root, both of which failed. Phone is useless to me like this!

For now there is no root options for Lollipop. Go back to KK, root phone and install already rooted version of lollipop.

[Q] Help with rooting phone

I have an LG G3 on T-Mobile, running android 4.4.2 and my software version is D85110r. I downloaded and installed Stump Root and when I load the app it says "Device is already Rooted". Then I remember I had previously rooted the phone last summer when I got it. But I'm having issues with several apps not working because of root permission. So then I download and install SuperSU and when I run it, it gives me the message, "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it." It then says something about if you have android 4.3 you need to re-root your phone. How do I proceed? Do I need to un-root my phone and then re-root? Thanks for any help you can provide!
Anyone?
same here. I am not on 4.3 but still getting the same message. Fix?

Hello! I had no problems rooting my F400k with this root tool.. I also tried rooting with Stump but it failed many times.. I suggest format your phone then try this root tool. Look at number 5 of this post.
Attached is the root tool. Good luck

You've flashed other root tools like Stump, etc.. right? It probably left some files behind after unrooting.. Factory reset and try that root tool again.. I've always used it and rooting was a breeze!:fingers-crossed::good: If you have updated to the latest firmware then maybe rooting isn't possible at the moment. Try downgrading to the previous version you had after you've factory resetted and used that root tool.. Good luck mate!

[Q] cant update SU binary?

I have a ls980ZVE that was previously updated to ZVE through OTA. I don't know if it was rooted previously or not, so in order to root it i installed stump. but grind button was disabled and it says device is rooted, so i thought i might be rooted already so i installed supersu from playstore and it displays message "There is no SU binarry installed, and superSU can't install it.
now can anyone tell me what do i do? i just want a clean rooted device, but would not mind custom recovery if there would be no problems.
any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Doesn't sound rooted to me. Try towelroot.com. I've used it a lot and it has always worked for me. Su should work after that

If it were me, i would try downloading the lg flash tool and the back to stock ROM tot files and return it to the original stock and root the phone at that point. You can then install a custom ROM. Sounds like they are blocking root with the zve update. I use the cm 12 lollipop resurrection ROM and I love it
I use rr also, but from zve. I used stump root.
You have to use the "brute force" method with Stump root if you are on ZVE. Haven't done it in a while and don't remember where that option is in Stump root but it is there.

Maybe try a factory reset and then try to root again if you haven't tried that yet
