Is it possible to root LG's version of lollipop? I upgraded and then tried purpledrake and stump root, both of which failed. Phone is useless to me like this!

For now there is no root options for Lollipop. Go back to KK, root phone and install already rooted version of lollipop.

You can not root Lollipop. You have to downgrade first on Kitkat, root it, and then flash some prerooted Lollipop rom.
is there a way with out having to go back to an older version of the d851

So I was a happy camper following the purpledrake rooting method for my LGG3 (D851) and then made the rookie mistake of upgrading to 10r. Now it seems my SuperSU doesnt work (no binaries found). Root Checker says Root access denied. Xposed Installer is not up to date as it doesn't have root permissions. How do I get out of this? Tried looking for downgrading from 10r, but couldnt find anything solid. Should I downgrade or wait to re-root 10r?

I have a ls980ZVE that was previously updated to ZVE through OTA. I don't know if it was rooted previously or not, so in order to root it i installed stump. but grind button was disabled and it says device is rooted, so i thought i might be rooted already so i installed supersu from playstore and it displays message "There is no SU binarry installed, and superSU can't install it.
now can anyone tell me what do i do? i just want a clean rooted device, but would not mind custom recovery if there would be no problems.
any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Doesn't sound rooted to me. Try towelroot.com. I've used it a lot and it has always worked for me. Su should work after that

If it were me, i would try downloading the lg flash tool and the back to stock ROM tot files and return it to the original stock and root the phone at that point. You can then install a custom ROM. Sounds like they are blocking root with the zve update. I use the cm 12 lollipop resurrection ROM and I love it
I use rr also, but from zve. I used stump root.
You have to use the "brute force" method with Stump root if you are on ZVE. Haven't done it in a while and don't remember where that option is in Stump root but it is there.

i think you can try rooting with kingroot, then flashing twrp, then flash cm13. Though I have not tried this method before. From what I read kingroot only gives temporary root which lasts a reboot so you gotta download everything, root, install autorec from play store, then reboot into twrp and flash.
Don't try Autorec method on Marsmallow rom. It will hard brick your phone (it's hard to repair it for inexperienced user).
What I recommended is tot method for retrieving stock lollipop. Then you can try root and Autorec.

Which baseband do you have?
Try first method in this thread: click (with ADB on)
It's worked for me even on V21C.

Hi,
I just upgraded my phone yesterday(via LG PC Suite - didn't get the FOTA) and obviously my phone isn't rooted anymore.
Looked around here for a method to re-root it and didn't find any solution for my version...
Already tried the latest KingRoot and no support yet.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

V30D is rootable with Kingroot. If you upgraded to V30N, you'll have to downgrade to 30B, C, D or F.

What version of Kingroot? I tried the latest(NewKingrootV5.0.4) yesterday and it said no support...
Last time I used version 5.0.3 and it worked perfectly.
If not, try to follow the guide bellow:
