I have a ls980ZVE that was previously updated to ZVE through OTA. I don't know if it was rooted previously or not, so in order to root it i installed stump. but grind button was disabled and it says device is rooted, so i thought i might be rooted already so i installed supersu from playstore and it displays message "There is no SU binarry installed, and superSU can't install it.
now can anyone tell me what do i do? i just want a clean rooted device, but would not mind custom recovery if there would be no problems.
any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Doesn't sound rooted to me. Try towelroot.com. I've used it a lot and it has always worked for me. Su should work after that

If it were me, i would try downloading the lg flash tool and the back to stock ROM tot files and return it to the original stock and root the phone at that point. You can then install a custom ROM. Sounds like they are blocking root with the zve update. I use the cm 12 lollipop resurrection ROM and I love it
I use rr also, but from zve. I used stump root.
You have to use the "brute force" method with Stump root if you are on ZVE. Haven't done it in a while and don't remember where that option is in Stump root but it is there.

Maybe try a factory reset and then try to root again if you haven't tried that yet

Hi guys I have some questions about the new Firmware and KitKat in general and you may have answers I'll try to update first post with your answers!
-Will I loose root when I flash through Odin? --> Yes
-Is the new firmware rootable, or is there a way to keep root when I upgrade from rooted 4.3?
-->For upgrade yes: If you are rooted on 4.3 you can restore root by flashing a custom recovery and flash superSU manually.
-->chainfire autoroot works but you need to update the superSU app through play store after flashing.
-Will KitKat restrict access to my SD card? -->Yes but fixable through an app or editing a file (needs root), there is already a thread about that.
-Can I still use flash with KitKat? How?
-->Yes, there is a hacked version see 2nd post for link.
-How is the touchscreen driver? Is the stuttering fixed? Do touch and hold actions still drop after ~23sec?
-->Pretty much fixed. To about the same state as the improved Kernel we had a while ago.
-Are there any apps that are not working (root apps too)?
-Gesture Controls? --> works
-Xposed framework app settings? -->works
-Is Hancom Office included or does it still work? --> not included but does still work.
Thats about what I can think of a the moment.
Hi,
If you are already rooted then all you have to do is re install TWRP and then flash SU zip then you have root.
For flash player, download hacked version here, it works I tested it on new software :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/go...e-how-to-play-flash-video-android-4-t2548001
Also, xposed works. Tested it on new software

Chainfire's Auto Root does work, once you flash it thru odin and reboot, go to the Play store and update the app.
- Please update OP
Here's a question: I'm already rooted. Is flashing the stock KitKat image via Odin and rerooting the only way to upgrade?

If you are already rooted, I assume you have TWRP too. Just download this KitKat rom, full wipe and install.

I formatted my 4.3 before flashing it maybe thats why?

Not sure... I installed KK on the tablet via Odin, then rebooted and setup, then rebooted into download mode and flashed auto root thru Odin.
Upon reboot I got an error selecting SuperSU, but once I updated it thru the Play Store its been fine.
Using ES Explorer I removed the items I don't need and removed all of the Knox stuff.
There are a few of us this worked for so I don't know what went wrong for you.
If you don't succeed then try again, and again, and again....Good luck.

Thx for the response from what i can see you never fully wipe your data before installing 4.4 KK but i did so i believe i lost my root like that. So when i updated the supersu never carried over from 4.3

Both ways work equally well I was already rooted with 4.3 but either way has been confirmed working so it doesn't matter.

KDZ back to your jb release, root it, freegee it, get into your recovery, install the 4.4 release, install supersu zip, boot into 4.4, freegee it and you're done.
At this point, this is your only option. I was stuck here and no root methods seemed to work on this release.

So I was a happy camper following the purpledrake rooting method for my LGG3 (D851) and then made the rookie mistake of upgrading to 10r. Now it seems my SuperSU doesnt work (no binaries found). Root Checker says Root access denied. Xposed Installer is not up to date as it doesn't have root permissions. How do I get out of this? Tried looking for downgrading from 10r, but couldnt find anything solid. Should I downgrade or wait to re-root 10r?

I have an LG G3 on T-Mobile, running android 4.4.2 and my software version is D85110r. I downloaded and installed Stump Root and when I load the app it says "Device is already Rooted". Then I remember I had previously rooted the phone last summer when I got it. But I'm having issues with several apps not working because of root permission. So then I download and install SuperSU and when I run it, it gives me the message, "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it." It then says something about if you have android 4.3 you need to re-root your phone. How do I proceed? Do I need to un-root my phone and then re-root? Thanks for any help you can provide!
Anyone?
same here. I am not on 4.3 but still getting the same message. Fix?

Hello! I had no problems rooting my F400k with this root tool.. I also tried rooting with Stump but it failed many times.. I suggest format your phone then try this root tool. Look at number 5 of this post.

You've flashed other root tools like Stump, etc.. right? It probably left some files behind after unrooting.. Factory reset and try that root tool again.. I've always used it and rooting was a breeze!:fingers-crossed::good: If you have updated to the latest firmware then maybe rooting isn't possible at the moment. Try downgrading to the previous version you had after you've factory resetted and used that root tool.. Good luck mate!
I just got this phone today and it came pre installed with 4.4.2 firmware. Now I can root it which is not the issue. the issue is no matter what I use, I cannot install custom roms. freegee does not work, I can use CWM via g pro kitkat but installing anything always results in an error 7.
what are my options considering this?

Which method did you use to root the phone? It's said that stock 4.4.2 can't be rooted correctly. The best thing to do, if you want to go through the trouble, is to flash back to the stock JB, which is v10g if you're using e980. Follow the guide line giving in the posting below, and you will get the best result.

That's why because towel root and freegee doesn't work on stock 4.4.2. I think you have to use universal root and then flash cwm6.0.47 to give you both recovery and unlock the bootloader. Flash back to JB is much better approach .

I did. I am on 4.1.2 and I used kingroot as opposed to towelroot, and used freegee to install 6.0.47. I grabbed CM11 from the website, went to flash it and was hit with an error 7.
Something may be wrong when you flashed back to JB, is it booting normal? You install busybox too right?
