Hi all
I've seen a few threads relating to LTE Nexus signal issues but none on the GSM.
I got annoyed with waiting for the OTA for the volume fix and 4.0.2 update so I flashed both of them manually.
Since the volume fix update I have noticed that my signal drops quite frequently during calls at my home and at my GF's house regularly dropping the call. Signal is normally 2-3 bars of edge. During a call this will drop to 1 bar with choppy audio and will drop the call almost everytime. Once the call has terminated the signal will then jump back to 3 bars allowing my to call again straight away.
My carrier is Vodafone UK, i'm wondering if anyone else is experinencing something similar? This only seemed to have happened after the volume fix update and 4.0.2 hasn't improved the situation. Before the fix was released my signal never dropped in my home but obviously the volumegate issue was apparent since i can only get GPRS/EDGE in my home.
+1
I have the same problem with my h3G galaxy nexus and it's pretty annoying.
What baseband do you have? Setting/about phone/baseband version... im on vodafone uk and had problems after a flash so flashed the KK6 version and now its fine.
Lol there are plenty of GSM poor signal threads on here. Including mine

I have the KK1. Is there a way to flash the baseband without wiping the device?
I thought the signal problem was also lte. Anyone else expierecing the problem for the gsm unlocked and running on tmobile?
My signal keeps dropping every 30 minutes or so. Loosing the complete mobile network for about 10 seconds. It is really annoying.
Noone replied to my thread on the biggest German Android board. Started to think that I'm the only one until I found this thread.
Having tmobile.

I am on ARHD 2.1.2. With XXKK6 base and, when I make call the person on the other end can only hear me very faintly sometimes not at all. This from is 4.0.2. I had the same problem on custom 4.0.3. I don't know what to do next. I have tried going back to XXKK1, which didn't work so I went back to XXKK6. Anyone else with this issue?or suggestions on how to fix would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all, this is my first time posting in these forums.
I've recently purchased a used rogers model i317m galaxy note 2 and used the dialer code so I could use it on Telus.
Since doing so, I have experienced intermittent, unexplainable signal drops, especially going into indoor areas. I have a friend with the same model phone, but Telus stock, and we have compared signal strength over the last two weeks. In a friends basement, he gets full reception on his note 2, while I get nothing.
In dealing with this issue, I have perused these forums for weeks. A variety of threads in the various note 2 forums all point to something fishy going on with galaxy note 2's that have been unlocked with the dialer code, and no conclusive evidence or answers regarding what the problem is, or how it can be fixed. It seems like those threads simply die because people cannot provide an explanation.
I have taken the phone to multiple repair shops, but their answers were all varying and they were more interested in trying to sell me on replacing the main board for $300 than helping me (no idea if it would actually fix anything if it's software related). I originally thought it could be a hardware antenna issue, but looking online and inquiring at the shops, antenna problems are so rare they don't even have stock, and have never been asked to replace one.
I doubt it's a hardware problem, and the other loose threads regarding this issue seem to confirm that it is software related, and only happens to dialer unlocked note 2's. And since I am getting reception (3bars and let outside, 1 bar and no data inside), the antennas do seem to be working.
ive tried a variety of solutions suggested on* the forums, but to no avail.
1) factory reset, no results
2) new sim card, no results
3) flashing a stock Telus rom, changing csc code, nothing
4) flashing new telus radio (even though I know rogers, Telus, sasktel all use the same radio), nothing
5) flashing aws band, made reception worse (maybe)
6) using *#*#2236# code, changing options, nothing
7) calling Telus, explaining the situation, having them make sure everything was fine on their side. Everything checked out and the Telus guy was equally confused by the problem.
8) main Samsung tech support, same issue. The representative was confused as well, and started cruising xda to try to help me!
This has been incredibly frustrating. The signal drop is so bad it basically renders the phone unusable. Right now I'm sitting in a house on the main floor on wifi next to big windows, and I'm getting one bar of reception and no data at all. On my nexus in the same room I was getting full signal.
The only thing I haven't tried is flashing modded baseband radios, but another person with the same problem on xda tried that and it didn't work for them at all.
I think I'm out of options. Planning on selling it to a used store for cheap and buying one fresh from Telus, or ordering an international model so this won't happen again.
Can anyone help?
Thanks so much.

I had the same problem, reset flash counter to zero and returned it to Samsung for warranty. They fixed it for me. I am on my phone now so i can't link to the thread, but if you Google reset flash counter to zero gn2 xda, you should find the answer. Hope this helps.

Thanks. Was it confirmed to be a hardware problem? Will they accept used phones under warranty?

Try flashing this rom and flash your modem/radio before you reboot system. I am using it right now and my signal increased with this stock rom. I am using Ma3 modem with it and works great.

Yes, they told me it hard ware, and yes, it was used and still under warranty. Try contacting Samsung through online chat via their help center.

It's a hidden menu, that's within the phone. Same way you unlock it by using the hidden menu!

I was having the same problem on my Note 2 i317 and seem to have fixed it with the latest modem i317UCAMH3. It still fluxuates, but now I get a full 5 bars of reception and it lasts much longer. I also downloaded an app call OpenSignal, that seems to help...cannot image exactly why, but when I get low reception, I open this app and watch it jump to at least 2 bars and then I can make a call again (this was before flashing the newer modem), now I just use the app for visual purposes, as the Beanstalk image for reception is hard to see, OpenSignal has nice big green bars that are easy to see. Try the new modem and give it at least 15 minutes to connect, then it seems to stay connected for me...except when it locks and goes to sleep...it still loses reception when that happens, but that is an issue for another day.
Cheers!
First I want to say to all of you moderators - I'm looking on this site and other for the past week - and there is no similar posts for this problem.
Now for the issue itself:
I just bought my brother the LG G3 D855. It has been working great for about 4 months, but than he flew to NY and when he got back, the signal strength got down to 1-0 bars.
after a week of test, and changing ROMS, and also talking to technical support from the currier (ORANGE) , I narrowed down the problem to this:
the problem only happens when in 3G network, thus going down to GSM or catching the right antenna with LTE, the phone works fine - the minute it connects to a 3G antenna it looses signal and gets stuck without switching to other antennas. I've been on the phone with orange for hours, and since we live in Tal Aviv, there is no way we don't have sufficient coverage. Tried different ROMS and no luck with none of them. Finally today I gave up and send it to the lab.
I'm posting this because I haven't found the proper discussion here for this problem, and also wanted to know if anyone have more experience than I have with this issue.
thanks guys
Thanks for sharing this with us. I am really interested in final results! Waiting them and crossing fingers for resolved issues!

hello guys, i need advis, regards with signal dropping and low signal reception of my phone, even i locked with gsm signal
i guess this is not software issue, as i recently reprogram the device, and installed lot of different roms, still the problem do exist,
now im planning to open the device and reconnect the ppossible methods, please anyone here knows where is tthe signal hardware receptor or any signal related hardware so i can try to clean it, and any possible ways or advise to overcome the issue,., dropping signal even the area is quite strong, is so annoying, , thanks guys hope u can help me
currently im using fulmics rom 7.6
I live in Sweden and 4g works on no carriers. 3g/H+ is super slow (at maximum of 1mbit/s). I've tried to solve it by going through different ROMs and kernels, asked help from carriers but the end result is always the phone. No issues with simcard or the carrier, the phone is at fault.
I'm trying to figure out if it's solvable since i HAVE to get another phone if i cannot fix this.
MMS/SMS/Calls works fine.
Appreciate any help
