Not able to flash any ROM after flashing SlimKat - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Community,
I've installed Slimkat 4.4.4 Build 8 some time ago. Now I've wanted to go back to Sense Roms. But now, when I go to the recovery and try to flash a new ROM (after Factory Reset of course) i will be stuck while booting with the HTC-Logo and the red text. But when reflashing the same SlimKat, my phone works just fine after flashing...
I would be very happy, if somebody could help me out of this situation, so I can go back to an Sense ROM.
Greetings,
Michael

Are you sure you gave the sense rom enough time? It can take a very long time for first boot sometimes.
Also, what firmware version are you on (according to bootloader screen, not what Android says)....

Yes, i think I gave enought time. (10 minutes should be enough?)
My firmware version according to bootloader is 3.16.0.0000

Could take longer definitely. Let it sit a half hour before giving up.
And what OS version does bootloader report...?
---------- Post added at 08:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:32 AM ----------
Actually, I'm sure your firmware is outdated. Need to update it to use any 4.4.4 roms for Sense.
If you're s-on, try this thread,

If you're s-off, it's easy.... See this thread,

Where can I get then the firmware.zip? I searched google up and down, i din't find it for my CID...

Life would be simple if you got Sunshine, and if it works, s-off then supercid. Then updating is simple.
Just a thought. ?

check the general section. collection of stock backups ...it has also the ota zip files, firmwares are inside so see if the right one is there

[Q] Stock A510e updating main version is older error

I'm currently running 2.35 on my WFS and I want to reflash my ROM because I have the dialler error and can't seem to fix it. The phone is unrooted, uneverything. It's stock. I tried updating with the RUU and get error 140. When I use the SD method I get the 'main version is older' error. Any tips?
There is are many tutorials for downgrading you software. Please check the index thread at the top of the general section

ahh sorry. didn't realise I had to go through HTCDEV to update my bootloader. So my boot loader is now at 1.090099. I can't post this in simonsutiltiy thread(because I don't have 10 posts yet) but I'm getting stuck when it tries booting into recovery mode. The phone just goes to the red triangle and stops doing anything. I pulled that battery and it's still locked.
Do I even have to unlock it? Or can I just reflash the 2.13 rom?
Ok. New update and I could use some help. My bootloader is now unlocked and on 1.090099 on ROM 2.13. But I still can't update to ROM 2.14 or ref lash ROM 2.13. The RUU gives me the error 155. I went through USB fastboot but still the same error. Could anybody else help me?
You simply Unlock the Bootloader, and again reset HBoot using Supervision(I hope so), Then flash out the RUU file. But the only problm s it will be relocked again, then u need to proceed to unlock(if uy need to break rules) means>>>>>

Is there ANY way of converting an Asia M8 (CID=HTC__622) to a GPE and get OTA updates

I have an HTC M8 running stock (from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376 - HTC_622 1.60.708.2 - TWRP 2.8.1.0 Thanks to bigd4ve).
So from what I can gather, I MUST get S-Off to convert it to a GPE and still receive OTA updates.
I am S-On. Sunshine does not seem to support HTC__622. I've tried firewater and sunshine straight after installing the nandroid backup from that link. No success.
Is there ANY way I can get it working? Can I change CID with SOn? Or maybe flash a different ROM which is supported.
Sunshine gives me: At this time, SunShine can not work on your phone. This is a known issue and we are working to address it. It's been a "known issue" since september. Any alternatives/ways to try it working?
Look at this dude: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development/progress-fuu-m8-t2813792 He starts his thread with "Since all M8’s can have S-Off..." maybe I'm missing something?
bump
What android version does that apply to so we all know.
4.4.2?
4.4.3?
4.4.4?
If it's the 4.4.4 version than you will have to wait till Sunshine developers hack an exploit
All of them. I've restored a 4.4.2 nandroid backup and kept trying sunshine between each update.

Flash a Stock 5.x with TWRP?

Hi Folks,
I've a HTC m8 on 4.4.1 rooted. I'm allover lucky, But for some reasons I wanna upgrade to 5.x
Is there a way to flash ist with TWRP to a Stockrom by HTC?
Thx for helping...
There is no 4.4.1 for the M8. The M8 was released with 4.4.2.
You will run into issues (broken WiFi, extreme long boot times) if you try to install a Lollipop ROM. You need to update the firmware (hboot radio, etc.), also.
Need your CID and main version to know how to proceed. Do getvar all, and post the results, being sure to delete IMEI and serial number, as these are personal data.
Depending on what CID version you have, you can either RUU to update firmware and install stock Lollipop ROM; otherwise you will need to restore you stock ROM (unrooted) stock recovery, then OTA to update the firmware and update to Lollipop.
Uhhh mam, all this just to give n7player the ability to access id3 tags on external SD. But I badly need to.
Thx for helping!

Ah I forgot to say. Due to freshly moved, I can't plug to any PC and can't make a getvar. Sry.
So it looks like you rooted on Android 4.4.3 (software number 2.22.401) and never installed a custom ROM? That sound right?
Does it say hboot 3.17 on the bootloader screen? S-on or s-off?
Depending on your answers the above questions, your options:
1) Restore stock nandroid you made before root (if you made one) otherwise restore the appropriate stock nandroid from collections here on XDA. Restore stock recovery. Once restored to "stock", install official OTA updates to bring the phone up to Lollipop. From there, you can flash TWRP back to the phone, and root if you like.
2) I think there is a 4.16.401 RUU that will work s-on (need to relock bootloader if s-on). That will get you on stock Lollipop firmware and ROM. Then you can re-unlock the bootloader, install TWRP and root again if you like. But be aware that RUU will wipe the phone, so backup any personal data you want to keep before RUU.

Glad you mentioned that. I originally thought you didn't know the difference between what you posted and getvar output, which would be pretty bad!
The screenshots provide some info, but not everything I want, therefore the additional questions above.
I tried yesterday a Cyanogenmod 12.1 by TWRP after Backup. Worked pretty fine. But after all I've been insure about how long it would take to build up a full functional place with all apps and data I already have and need and recovered my backup.
Your other questions I gonna answer as soon.
Edit: HBOOT 3.18 and S-On
Again, thx for helping. I decided to flash CM 12.1 and restored almost via Titanium.
Seems to be a quit good decision.

Want to downgrade to 3.38.x to 3.35.617.12 firmware so that I can install Viper?

Hi Everyone,
I have an Australian HTC One M9 with Telstra (carrier). ATM it has Marshmallow installed, and firmware version 3.38.x, but I would like to downgrade the firmware to 'M9_3.35.617.12_FullStock' (International Version). I would like to do this in order to install the Viper ROM. For me Viper ROM is the 'bees knees' (Aussy Slang for F**king GREAT!). I understand that Viper will not run with the firmware that I currently have installed (both through the XDA forums, and from personal experience; developed by attempting to install the ROM). Is the ADB / fastboot method, outlined in the link below, a safe way to proceed?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/development/firmware-t3068243
FYI - My phone is S-OFF and Rooted...
Any advice or guidance will be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Davo
Just tried a couple of firmware..."Patience, you must have patience!"
Ok, so patience is a virtue, but apparently...not so much one of mine! I just tried to flash a couple of the firmwares that I had in mind - unsuccessfully - and below is a screen cap of my results!

Did you change your cid and mid to match the firmware you're trying to flash?
Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA Labs
You should change cid to supercid or something that lets you flash the international (European) version aka 3.35.401.12. You can flash whatever you like with this fw without running into issues )
Skickat från min HTC6535LVW via Tapatalk
SuperCID allowed me 'to turn the corner'
Thanks guys, Roobwz in particular; my phone is now SuperCID. I have also successfully flashed 3.35.x firmware ('M9_3.35.401.12_NoWipe_TWRP2871b1.zip'). I made the decision to use the 'htc_fastboot' software rather than 'standard' fastboot. Even though the flashing completed successfully I did have to issue the same command (through htc_fastboot.exe) twice - in between rebooting the phone - please see the screen shot below.
I am now running Viper ROM...but will all the effort be worthwhile?
Glad you figured it out
Skickat från min HTC6535LVW via Tapatalk
Could anyone help me out? I flashed Android Revolution HD on my verizon HTC one M9.
I accidentally did not set my CID or MID to superCID. CID is at VZW__001
Could that be the cause of me not having service anymore? Boots up fine but just no service.
Been lurking reading everything...just can't figure out how to go back as my backup got corrupted somehow. Verizon files seem like the holy grail I've yet to find... Please if anyone knows anything shoot me in the right direction. I never had to do this CID stuff flashing my old HTC Incredible.
Hi coldbloodio,
Phone service was definitely an issue for me, until I performed the SuperCID and then flashed the appropriate firmware. The correct firmware was not possible until I had SuperCID, and without the correct firmware I could not receive any signal using a custom ROM.
Good luck.

The RUU linked by ckpv5 is specifically intended for your model, and that is the reason why he is telling you to use it.

The current condition is fine, for unlocking the bootloader. You don't need a working OS to do it. But this is a much more complicated approach than the suggested RUU. You would need to get an unlock bin code from HTCDev.com, unlock the bootloader, install custom recovery. Even then, that doesn't get you a working OS. You then have to get an appropriate ROM or stock TWRP backup onto the phone, then flash/restore it.
So again, the RUU is a lot easier for the given situation (unmodified phone, bootloader locked, etc.). Just download the RUU, and run it per the linked instructions, and it will install a full stock image to the phone.
Thanks, will try in a few hours (just giving some juice (charge) to the phone )
While reading the topic I realized he knows the stuff it was just to confirm as I didn't specify the model

We have magical ways of knowing.
Actually, since the device is not modified, the OS number on the bootloader screen tells is what model it is (the 401 is for Euro version MID op6b100).
But also, he wouldn't tell you to use just any RUU, unless he had a reason to suggest that particular one.
Additionally, even if it was the wrong RUU, it would not damage your phone. With s-on, it would just fail to install and give you a message that it is the wrong RUU. It's with s-off (SuperCID, etc.), you need to be careful about wrong RUU.
I have to say guys: this actually worked! You both were superb!
On behalf of him, thank you!
